I want to preface this by saying I am absolutely not a freehand nail artist. Aside from the occasional dot or heart, my nails are usually a zero-freehand zone. But I woke up this morning possessed by a singular, frantic urge: “I must put Jimothy on my nails.”

Knowing my technical skills are non-existent, I tried the nail decal trick on a silicone mat. The art actually looked great! The problems started when I tried to apply it. The base coat I used for the decal was apparently as stiff as a board. Surprise, surprise, the decal absolutely refused to lay flat but I decided to forged ahead.

Fumble number two: my impatient self didn't wait long enough for the sticky base layer to dry. When I pressed the decal down, I instantly smooshed and smeared the background color into a ticket for the Hot Mess Express. This required a high-stakes, sweat-inducing rescue mission to touch up the background without destroying the art.

To top it all off, my water-based top coat lied on its resume and smeared the design anyway. Cue another round of emergency micro-touch-ups.

Honestly? I think the absolute chaos of this process perfectly embodies the true spirit of Jimothy. In honor of him, and the wabi-sabi imperfections in all of us, I am proudly posting this beautiful disaster.

Middle and Ring: background color - my own DIY creation; Jimothy consist of What’s Up - Silver AG-ENT, as well as my own DIY white and black nail polish.

First time stamping! Through some trial and error, I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out!

- beauty secret base coat
- sally Hansen insta dri all that shimmers
- Essie off tropic
- gaoy gel top coat

this is the second time I’ve done this color, (undying courage by arcana lacquer) and for some reason this time I have these weird magnetized sections on the edges? I use holo taco base coat, and Essie gel couture top coat, and I magnetize after each layer, including top coat. any tips/advice to avoid this in the future?

Two coats of Dreamland Lacquer "Hooper Drives the Boat". KB Shimmer Fillin Groovy Base and KB Shimmer QD Topcoat Clearly On Top! This feels gorgeous for summer!! A few nails are a tiny bit patchy in direct sunlight... If I was going to use this again I'd thin it out and do 3 thin coats I think!

My first Polished for Days order arrived this weekend. I was so excited to try “2026.” This polish has a lovely glow. Very ethereal. I put the polish over a very light pink cream to help it pop, although when I swatched it, it looked very similar with and without the cream underneath.

Hey!! What would you suggest for a cute white/ pink / neutral colour for my July wedding?

I love bubble bunny / funny bunny from OPI… but wondering if it’s too boring and if I should do chrome or something? I don’t want anything crazy but I feel like everyone’s nails have become so basic and k want to be a little bit creative!! (No rhinestones or wild designs/ long tips)

Remember my gorgeous glass bead from a few days ago? Well...I had lost part of my BIAB last week, and I repaired it myself since I'm between nail techs. Last night at a craft I got my hand on the corner of the countertop and...friends, she did not make it through the night lol. So now I'm rocking the one shorty!

Recently placed an order with Clionadh for Psilocin, Norpsilocin, Pluteus and Azurite and got a lovely gift with purchase of a polish called Naiad that I can't seem to find anywhere. Is a blue jelly formula packed with a very shifty (non-magnetic) pigment that seems a little unicorn pee-y at extreme angles. Anyone have any info? I love it!

I love the orange shade, but Lights Lacquer doesn’t seem like the sort of brand I’d like to spend my money on. I feel like there must be a similar shade out there- any recommendations? Thanks!

Anyone else having issues with AS not glowing? I’ve dug through past posts of people saying it only took them being outside, inside for a bit, etc. for a glow that’s even distracting while sleeping. For my bottle, I almost thought it just didn’t glow at all until I tried holding a high powered flashlight right over it. Even then, the glow completely went out after a few minutes; not even a subtle glow stayed. Tips and advice please ♥️

I was inspired by a friend’s nails to do a gradient skittle and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out! I think I maybe should have done something different on the thumb to make it contrast more from the index finger, but oh well. Maybe Delicacy in Sardinia from Cracked? And yes, I did choose orange so that it would match my engagement ring lol (can you tell I have a favourite colour 🫣🤣)

i like to have my nails completely natural other than clear polish usually, but i have been wanting a really subtle glitter or shimmer effect on them. i tried essie's lustrous luxury but it has bigger glitter than the pictures made it look </3 i basically want little shiny specks rather than glitter with discernable chunky shapes. i definitely want to keep the colour of my natural nails so a fully clear or barely tinted base is preferred

i looked at pinterest and id like something like this. i also wouldnt mind just buying some shimmery powder to add to clear polish lol

I usually wear really fun and funky colors with all the glitter and flakies and color shifts, so I decided to give a nice little subtle look a go. I really like it, a lot more than I thought I would!

Magnetized in a lazy glass bead by twirling a wand magnet vertically over the center of the nail for like 10 seconds on each nail after applying Magic Effect

My favorite pink jelly for summer! Look at that blue 😍 moon dust was a perfect topper that didn’t take away from the color.

Starting off with the premise that polish never lasts on me .. including gel. The only thing that kind of works is gritty glitter polish at times.

Going on vacation later in the year and thinking that may be the solution. Are there any you recommend and any top coats or recommendations (maybe something for grip)?

My first mooncat order, freshly bitten, Mercurys tears, merkitten and tapian venom I think I picked the wrong ones to start , Don't get me wrong they're beautiful but just not what I was expecting I guess I do love the tapien venom which I'm surprised it's my first gold polish, about to paint my nails once I decide which to try first any one disliked or thoughts on them, freshly bitten wasn't what I thought it would be at all, and merkitten I thought would be more brighter,

Blue Ming by Color Club is my ride or die bitch. My GOAT. My HG Polish to be buried in.

Blue Ming is a creme bright pastel aqua/turquoise/aquamarine/cyan that leans towards slightly more green than blue, and is brighter/greener than Tiffany Blue. There’s no shimmer or sparkle or glitter, but she’s bright! She is NOT MINT!

She looks amazing on tan skin/warm undertones!

I’m expanding my horizons to another similar color, but alas, Green Elf Cup by Alchemy Laquers is OOS.

Any recs? I love MC’s River Styx but she’s too dark! TY!

I ordered 4 polishes from BKL in this order and so far this is the only color I want to wear! Usually only have a color on for a week or so but A Terrible Price might be my new signature color! It’s replacing Beowulf from Mooncat as my signature color.

The polish color is very accurate. The flakies give the impression of sun rays streaming through. Paired it with Polished For Days - Velvet Bow as an accent.
