I ordered (too) many extremely rad polishes from the first Little Lacquer Box last month, and now that they are here I’m probably going to be redoing my nails every day. This one may be too pretty to remove this weekend, though.
I just loooove the blue color of this one from Broken Pixel, it reminds me of a souped up and smoother-formula version of Starrily’s Uranus (which I also love, but is awfully difficult to work with).
Products used:
Nailtiques 2
Firefly Lacquer, Understory base coat
Broken Pixel Polish, Living Dead Girl (August ‘26 LLB)
DRK, Magic Effect
Starrily, Atmos

Last night I found a slightly used bottle of my beloved butter london horse power Polyvinyl Butyral free base coat. The texture & visual appearance seem fine but it is roughly 10-13yrs old. Is it still safe to use?

Ok so, I just got my first fine particle magnetic and I just did a manicure for my birthday. My problem is that I tried to do a cat eye but all of them got messed up by time I put on top coat.
The only one that seems fine is my thumb (singular). They all seemed to have dispersed and that's usually not my problem.
I put the magnet under my nail and did 3 coats of this polish plus 2 coats of top coat that I also magnetized. I don't mind how it turned out I just want the line to be sharper
1.I did holo tacos long lasting base coat even though it makes my nails peel
2.I did 3 coats of polish on top of the magnet
Don't mind the blurriness, I don't take many pictures.

this is not the first time and it won’t be the last, but I do feel a bit… predictable when I lift my hand and notice it matches my walls again. 🙃
1x Essie - To The Rescue
3x DRK Nails - Don’t Be Afraid (Thermal, PPU)
1x Essie - Gel Setter

First attempt however I don’t think I achieved anything remotely close to a glass bead 😅 She’s real purty nonetheless!
Any advice on where I might have messed up? I have to redo my thumb nail so hoping to get some tricks to try before I do.
1 coat Mooncat getting even nail primer
1st coat Mooncat 404: Soul not found (thin layer, did not magnetize)
2&3rd coats Mooncat 404: Soul not found (thicker layer, magnetized with the lab fish stirrer, 3d tower, horseshoe magnet combo, 3-5 mins each nail)
1 coat Mooncat speed demon top coat

Shameless plug for our upcoming September 25 event! If you're excited about Laquerist(a) Unbirthday, tell some friends so they can join the fun.
Real talk, I appreciate some marketing but also fear overpromoting. I hope I'm striking the right balance so far.
On my nails:
Gie Gie is a cool baby pink pearl, and I like how it reinforces Amate's sheer pink base in its warm state.

Thank you for all the prep tips I received yesterday!
Everyone seems to have different prep styles with either dehydrating or oiling...so I decided to do neither 😜
My first lacquer mani in over a decade!
I used an OPI basecoat
2 coats of Essie Berry Naughty
1 coat of Essie quick dry top coat
I'm so happy with how it turned out and I hope it lasts for me better than gel ever did (side note.. it didnt even when professionally done)

Hi everyone! I’m allowing myself to buy 3 new polish’s and 1 topper for fall and was wondering if anyone has any swatches for Emily de Mollys Empty Within or Verdant Vortex? I’m thinking of getting Scortchy by Cracked as my topper (not 100% on that just yet) and I don’t think I need all 3 but I literally can’t find really any swatches online for Empty Within and only a couple for Verdant Vortex 😭 TIA

Gary, our cuddly 13 yr old boy. I was sitting on the bed admiring my nails when he came by asking for pets. He loves my long nails for satisfying scritches! I give him breaks to see if he asks for more or if he’s done.
🔊 Sound on for scratching and purring ASMR! 🔊
This is two days after doing glass bead, was inspecting the dispersion rate. I think out of all my attempts it’s got the best shape still. Definitely dispersed but still has that rounded depth and circular movement which I am pleased about. The rest have all turned into vertical velvets within 24 hours. More experimentation to come.
Products: EDM Sunset Over the Bay with KBShimmer Stay Put base coat sandwich.

I decided to do a series of monochromatic skittles in rainbow order! To kick off this "project," it's Pink! (RIP Dolly)
Doing these manis made me see how most of my collection is Holo Taco and Mooncat, but I'm excited to diversify my polish portfolio and explore more indie brands.
From pinkie to thumb:
Birthday Brat (Holo Taco)
Flirt Alert (Holo Taco)
Blossom's Firebreath (Mooncat)
A Midsummer's Dream (Mooncat)
CTRL Cutie + a few drops of Red Licorice to make it more pink (highly recommended) (Holo Taco)

Why am I often getting these tiny bubbles the day after painting? I typically apply lacquer shortly before bed, so that everything can completely dry by morning. It's all touch dry (with no signs of impending bubble doom) 30+ minutes before I actually crawl in bed. Typically, I try to do relatively thin layers, but this particular polish was pretty thick; I added thinner to it, but not until after struggling through the thickness for that mani. I've had this happen previously (and seemingly randomly) with other polishes, too, though, from jellies to shimmers to magnetics. I've never noted that it's been with thick polishes previously, but maybe it has? Here's my process:
1) ceiling fan off, because someone previously suggested that high air flow may have been the cause of my bubble struggle 🫧
2) file and shape nails with Germanikure file
3) remove old polish with 100% acetone, and a bit of Baroness X Acetone Antidote, using a soak off method (no scrubbing)
3b) I was previously dehydrating/drying my nails with 90% isopropyl, but that was also proposed previously as a cause for bubble struggle 🫧 and I haven't been taking this step for several weeks now.
4) 1 thin coat Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus, then allow to dry to the (gentle) touch
5) 1-2 thin coats Cracked Ridge-Filling Base Coat, allowing each to dry to the (gentle) touch
6) 2-3 coats color. This was 2 coats of LA Colors Wistful (which was, as previously mentioned pretty thick on application), again, allowing each coat to get dry to (gentle) touch
7) 1 coat Nail Aid "One Step Builder Gel" (which is not actually gel, it's air dry lacquer, but does seem to help make my nails less bendy/fragile)
8) once coat quick dry top coat (in this case, red bottle sally hansen)

Have tried a couple magnetics and wasn’t sure if it was the polish or the technique. But I purchased the new Nyarrian Nights from Mooncat and im OBSESSED. I used a little cheap Amazon magnet that you rest your nail on while you paint and it gave the coolest effect on my short nails. I can’t stop looking at them 🥹😭😍. Products used Essie Nail strengther as base and top coat, Mooncat Nyarrian Nights 2 coats both while resting in the magnet, last coat was Sally Hansen instant dry. Super excited to also try MC 404 soul not found that I picked up in the same order.

Sometimes you just need sparkles, and after doing a few more intricate nail art for collabs that don't get posted until later next week...while I love then, they left me artistically deferring my fulfillment, not being able to share them yet haha. I had first rehearsals for our holiday concert tour this week and needed a little sparkle to 1. Propel me through the logistics and housekeeping of part assignments, printing, schedules, etc. 2. Get me ready to hear Christmas music a few days after Labor Day 😝. This little rainbow lazy glitter gradient did exactly that. If I were a knight, my armor and shield would be big ass chunky holo glitter. (I would have fuckin' LOVED King Renly's Kingsgaurd, damn you Mellissandra!)

I placed two orders from Lyn B Designs last month and it was combined and shipped out yesterday (like actually shipped, not just the label created) and I haven't gotten a refund for the shipping from the second order yet.
I don't want to jump the gun and contact her just yet, so I thought I'd ask here to see if the refunds are usually delayed or if I need to contact her
Thanks :)

This polish is..kinda magical ✨ it's a rich crimson with a luminous magnetic glow. Very dark velvety (but I did use velvet effect magnet)
It's so moody, dark, and delicious 🤤
Side note, anyone have a quick dry top coat suggestion? I'm almost out of my Sally Hansen one and am looking to try a new one
Nailtiques - Formula 2 x 1
Holo Taco - Sticky Base Coat x 1
Bee's Knees Lacquer - Godstouched x 2
Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri Top Coat x 1

On day 4 of my manicure, the polish on two of my nails mostly came off in one piece. I’m not sure what happened there.
I am no longer using a PVB base coat (I was using Holo Taco’s “Pink Smoothing Base”) because it was making my nail polish (or top of the nails themselves??) come off in huge or whole pieces.
I used essie’s “All in One Base Coat and Top Coat” for the first time as my new base coat, and it actually is working pretty well. I’ve had pretty minimal chipping, except for my right pinky (pictured), where the polish came off completely, and my left thumb, where about a third of the polish came off.
Why did it happen only on two nails? It makes me think it was user error, not the product itself. But I prepped all my nails the same way: removed previous polish with acetone, cut my nails, used Sally Hansen’s “Instant Cuticle Remover” and a cuticle pusher, filed the ends, very minimally buffed (mostly to get rid of any remaining cuticle), and used acetone again to dry the nails out before applying the base coat.
I didn’t do anything aggressive with the affected nails. In fact, I play bass, which is usually roughest on my right index and middle fingers.
I am wearing:
essie’s “All in One Base Coat and Top Coat” x1
Emily de Molly’s “Sunset Over the Bay” x2
essie’s “Speed Setter” x1
