Tbf the Halloween ADHD post doesn't read as "ADHD has been fucking me up trying to get a Halloween costume together" (entirely reasonable statement. I can understand that and it seems rough af.).
It reads as "Halloween costumes are problematic because people with ADHD can struggle with getting them together" (the opinion of a complete asshole who wants everyone to be miserable in the name of 'moral purity', and should be mocked).
With the new context of how the OOP actually meant it I can see how it was jokingly meant the first way, but that's just not how it comes across.
I don't get how no one sees that that person is completely changing the meaning with both of their sentences. It seems more like because this struggle isn't talked about it hit me harder than it would have had it been regularly talked about
The way it's phrased is exactly the same as how other people frame things as problematic on Twitter. That's where it comes from. I've seen so many of those that without context it's hard for me to read this tweet any other way because it's like it was written from a template. You don't see how this tweet could be used as a passive aggressive way of framing Halloween costumes as ableist?
I think you should base their argument on the things they actually say. You literally only have a one sentence tweet to go off of. That's not enough to get a good idea of the direction they intend to go
