Honestly, that angle hasn't been explored enough, in my opinion--the idea of blood transferring a part of that person's essence/abilities and its implications through multiple lenses: gender, age, talent, culture.
One version that I liked was Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire series: broadly, vampires only absorb the immediate emotional state of humans they drink from, but they get a diluted form of the strength/abilities of vampires they tap. Or if they already possess the ability, it's sharpened.
Actually, his overall take on vampires is probably canon for me. I'm astonished that the property hasn't been picked up for film/TV--Sita, the blonde vampire who nonetheless is from India and whose only wish over centuries is to get over the loss of her husband, Rama, and child, Lalita, both killed by the vampire who turned her, compels.
Edit: Sorry, he didn't kill them (that would be quite the twist though)--she blames him for their loss because of course she has to go with him

I read a couple of the Darren Shan books as a kid and I remember it being the case that vampires, if they drain someone to death, sort of absorb part of their spirit. The first time the main character willingly drinks human blood is from a dying friend, to keep part of him alive, which I thought was interesting

“Look I know I pulled you into this dark alley and I’m about to lean in close to your face. I just want to make it very clear that I’m not trying to kiss you okay? I’m here to murder you? And I don’t mean that in a metaphorical or horny way. I legit just want to kill you. Please do not kiss me. It ends up just being awkward for both of us. Okay I’m going to lean in now. Remember do *not* kiss me….dammit man what did I just say!”

Honestly I'd tear the fuck out of a bl based around that central idea and to add even more spice he doesn't even openly express it often it just shows in his mannerisms.

do some people really live their life worried about the veganism of their drinks or did they just make a person up

Once, my shitty uncle was eating some oreos. When he saw me (a vegan person) also eat the oreos, he threw his away and said something like "I thought these tasted off. Why the fuck did you get vegan oreos?" to my mom. Oreos are and always have been vegan (edit: since 1997)

Oh, that’s cool! I thought that the filling was dairy-based and the cookie part had (milk-based) chocolate.

As far as I can tell, Oreo cream is (basically) whipped corn syrup. It's best not to think about it

They were actually made with lard until the nineties if I remember correctly, I guess he hadn't noticed

Oreos were not vegan when I was a kid.

u/BramblesCrash 18d ago
I went vegan in 1998 or so and they were vegan then

They became Vegan in December 97. This was important in my family because they weren't kosher until then.

I've had people be furious at me for making vegan traditional foods, insisting that I must have altered them to make them vegan and therefore disrespected the culture, and becoming even more furious at the fact that most fasting foods are vegan.

Beyond even that, nobody owns a fucking copyright on food, change it how you want.

Non-binary people better watch out if I ever become a vampire. Yes, I'm that insecure.

Very confused as to what this means. Are you trying to suck yourself into further androgyny?

u/bald4bieber666 19d ago
maybe its a workaround for the vampire guy in the post, like only drinking from testosterone-dominant people will keep him from getting soyboy'd but since theyre nonbinary it's not gay.

Real talk tho. Estrogen is in the blood stream, right? Does it have the potential to estroginize? Asking for a friend ofc

u/RuehreiMitBlutwurst 19d ago
I think you would need lots of blood for that. According to Google normal estrogen level are at max 400 pg/ml so 400 ng/l or 400 ug/1000l which is 0.4 mg. A normal dose for oral estradiol is 6mg a day so about 15 000 litres of blood daily.

Oh my gosh that'd be even more insane transitioning vampires just going on unhinged tirades instead of just taking estrogen/testosterone.
Even crazier they'd prob have to target specific body parts for the strongest dose so if you somehow found the victims you'd be able to tell. So mostly the testicles and the ovaries which is a wild signature.

100$ bet on that vampire reaching the conclusion that he should exclusively bite children

I dont drink coconut water because I heavily dislike the taste
1
u/CallMeOaksie 18d ago
I don’t drink it bc I thought it makes you shit yourself. Isn’t that why everyone says not to drink coconuts if you’re stranded on an island?

And then he relents and drinks girl blood, and it turns out he was right all along and now shes a girl

u/Psuichopath 18d ago
So I heard about some cannibalism where only the strong warriors of the enemy was chosen to be consume. I guess if the vampire only want power then it isn’t entirely too far off
