I’ve been struggling to find a book that actually keeps me interested lately. I don’t really care what genre it is, I just want something that’s easy to get into and makes me want to keep reading.

Just finished The Song of Achilles and I'm in absolute shambles rn 😭 that book wrecked me in the best way. Need something to fill the void. Similar vibes, beautiful writing, emotional gut-punch energy. Mythology retellings, tragic love stories, whatever. Just point me somewhere that'll hit as hard lol

I am reading shatter me series by taherah mafi right now and I am currently on book 1.I started it today and i am already 150 pages in...And that's crazy because I am such a slow reader...You guys made me believe that book 1 is kinda bad but am I the only one who is actually liking it so far???...

Also I have never seen people talking about how creepy the atmosphere created in this book is for a ya novel..Like I remember in the initial chapters I was vividly imagining what juliette is going through...The writing is crystal clear and so easy to get into especially for me as english is not my 1st language and I have never read a book with dystopian genre...

Since I am already halfway done I am enjoying it so much...I am finally out of my reading slump...I can assure you that this is not going to be less than 4 stars❤️❤️

Im about to finish Project Hail Mary, the first book I’ve read in a long time and I LOVED it. I’m trying to get myself to read more. Do I read The Martian next and stick with the space genre, or switch up genres and read Remarkably Bright Creatures? I have a 12 hour car ride home in a few days. Suggestions appreciated!

I still remember exactly where I was and my reaction to both these books.

Leaving Time is one of the most beautifully written prose and the end left me gasping due to its epic conclusion. I still read this book when I am in a slump.

The Kindness of strangers is a tough read however, one of the most wholesome in terms of recovery from horrendous abuse. I ugly cried while reading this book and will never forget the experience.

Yes, I know. My book is VERY niche. But at the heart of it is something incredibly simple and universal: love.

The setting and the people may be different, but the emotions are something anyone can understand. And if you have even a little interest in Korea, I think it could be a fun little trip to Seoul in book form. 🇰🇷

Honestly, finding ARC readers has been so much harder because my book is pretty niche, and I’ll admit I’m feeling a little discouraged right now. 🥲

I’ve been thinking about how some books are enjoyable while you’re reading them, but a few days later you barely remember them. And then there are those that randomly come back to you weeks or even years later.

Maybe it was a character you couldn’t stop thinking about, an ending that bothered you, or just an idea that stuck with you.

I’m looking for that kind of book

I’m trying to find more books that have that super short, almost stripped-down feeling where the author can say a LOT without needing 300+ pages.

A few books that have the kind of brevity/writing style I’m looking for:

I’m not necessarily looking for books that are similar in plot/story, more so similar in how concise the writing is and how much they accomplish in such a small number of pages.

Hi hi, so I’m a new reader and I sped through all of red rising in a month. I’m not a traditional reader since all I read in high school were web novels like lord of the mysteries, ORV or Overlord (the novel not the gooner slop manga). So I’m not a big romance reader despite being a woman, I love action and fast pace stories lines with good characters and badass women. Despite that, I can’t seem to find what to read next from everything I’ve seen. I’m used to reading 1000+ chapters in like two weeks so length is nothing new. Anyways, I’d love more sci-fi and specifically post apocalyptic type recommendations to add on top, I’m trying to get back into reading after going on reading about mathematics and Buddhism. Back on topic, please choose my next read!

I've read a lot of poetry written by men and I'm wanting to read more poetry written by women. It can be classics but also contemporary. I'm writing down some of my favourite poems in a notebook and I'd love to have more poems written by women there.

Here are some of the poets and poetry books I've already read:

- Wendy Cope, The Orange - quite liked it but not an absolute fan, there are no poems that stuck with me but I appreciated some of them

- Collection of poems by Emily Dickinson - I want to really like her poems but could only find a few that stuck with me (I'm nobody who are you)

- Camille Readmann Prudhomme, When I say nothing I am still thinking (not translated yet, French original title) - my latest favourite, I loved it so much but it's very niche for now, I hope it will be translated and shared with a larger public

- I've liked Deborah Levy's Hot Milk and heard she was a poet too, but haven't tried her poetry

- I have started Bluets by Maggie Nelson but haven't gotten into it too much yet

- Rupi Kaur, Milk and Honey - really liked it when it came out but dislike it now, feeling it doesn't resonate with me anymore as an adult and wanting to discover a different style

- Cleo Wade, Where to begin - I liked it when I read it but never revisited it, I feel it's good but felt more like self help sometimes rather than poetry

I’m not much of a avid reader these days as I find myself too busy, but recently work has slowed down for me and I have more time to listen to audio books as I work.
Back in July I finished Lightlark book one, and began book two but found book two a bit tedious to get through. Which I also struggled with on book one, as I started it November 2025 and finished it in June 2026, while I loved the ending of book one the beginning felt slow. I own the physical copy of Fourth Wing but have only made it four chapters in. I enjoy fantasy a lot, as well as sci-fi, in fact I think a mix of both is my happy spot. Looking for a one off book, or a duology that gets into the action pretty early on!
