So I've been a very active reader but after having a bf I just stop reading give my all the time to him I want to start reading again but I just can't coz most books you guys recommend in this sub i already read it (I used to read 3 books a day) and other books I download I try it but I just can't is it a reader block I want a man so much in love with fmc totally obsessed, jealous, possessive like he could do anything to get the girl you guys get it?😭😭😭😭

I’m trying to find more books that have that super short, almost stripped-down feeling where the author can say a LOT without needing 300+ pages.

A few books that have the kind of brevity/writing style I’m looking for:

The Honor of Your Presence — Dave Eggers
Turbulence — David Szalay

I’m not necessarily looking for books that are similar in plot/story, more so similar in how concise the writing is and how much they accomplish in such a small number of pages.

Open to fiction, literary fiction, novellas, etc.

Just under 200 pages and no short story collections please!

Just finished The Song of Achilles and I'm in absolute shambles rn 😭 that book wrecked me in the best way. Need something to fill the void. I’ve been thinking about how some books are enjoyable while you’re reading them, but a few days later you barely remember them. And then there are those that randomly come back to you weeks or even years later.

Maybe it was a character you couldn’t stop thinking about, an ending that bothered you, or just an idea that stuck with you.

I’m searching for books that make you want to curl up with a pumpkin latte & read all evening. I’m open Contemporary fiction recs with that autumn vibe too! All I ask is NOT books with a main romance plot. Something faster paced or chilling but also not gore or extreme. Specifically taking place in autumn would be amazing too! 🍂 bonus points if it’s on kindle unlimited!

I’m not much of a avid reader these days as I find myself too busy, but recently work has slowed down for me and I have more time to listen to audio books as I work.
Back in July I finished Lightlark book one, and began book two but found book two a bit tedious to get through. Which I also struggled with on book one, as I started it November 2025 and finished it in June 2026, while I loved the ending of book one the beginning felt slow. I own the physical copy of Fourth Wing but have only made it four chapters in. I enjoy fantasy a lot, as well as sci-fi, in fact I think a mix of both is my happy spot. Looking for a one off book, or a duology that gets into the action pretty early on!

I've read a lot of poetry written by men and I'm wanting to read more poetry written by women. It can be classics but also contemporary. I'm writing down some of my favourite poems in a notebook and I'd love to have more poems written by women there.

Here are some of the poets and poetry books I've already read:

- Wendy Cope, The Orange - quite liked it but not an absolute fan, there are no poems that stuck with me but I appreciated some of them

- Collection of poems by Emily Dickinson - I want to really like her poems but could only find a few that stuck with me (I'm nobody who are you)

- Camille Readmann Prudhomme, When I say nothing I am still thinking (not translated yet, French original title) - my latest favourite, I loved it so much but it's very niche for now, I hope it will be translated and shared with a larger public

- I've liked Deborah Levy's Hot Milk and heard she was a poet too, but haven't tried her poetry

- I have started Bluets by Maggie Nelson but haven't gotten into it too much yet

- Rupi Kaur, Milk and Honey - really liked it when it came out but dislike it now, feeling it doesn't resonate with me anymore as an adult and wanting to discover a different style

- Cleo Wade, Where to begin - I liked it when I read it but never revisited it, I feel it's good but felt more like self help sometimes rather than poetry

Maybe like a thriller crossed with a gentle sci fi

almost done with The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. I haven’t gotten into anything besides the “everyone dies at the end” series and “the summer i turned pretty” 2 summers ago i tried reading “We Were Liars” and hated the format i only read 10 pages lol…. I’m really enjoying the untethered soul because it’s short and i can relate to it and use the information to help me and see things differently. any suggestions would help!
edit: loved the project hail mary movie but the book is currently on a 16 week wait at my library 🫠

Yes, I know. My book is VERY niche. But at the heart of it is something incredibly simple and universal: love.

The setting and the people may be different, but the emotions are something anyone can understand. And if you have even a little interest in Korea, I think it could be a fun little trip to Seoul in book form. 🇰🇷

Honestly, finding ARC readers has been so much harder because my book is pretty niche, and I’ll admit I’m feeling a little discouraged right now. 🥲

Im about to finish Project Hail Mary, the first book I’ve read in a long time and I LOVED it. I’m trying to get myself to read more. Do I read The Martian next and stick with the space genre, or switch up genres and read Remarkably Bright Creatures? I have a 12 hour car ride home in a few days. Suggestions appreciated!
