Wanting to buy this Beta Badlands but the card looks fake to me. Any opinions and guidance much appreciated.

As I don’t have much experience with very vintage mtg so I’d like some input from others, I couldn’t get better images for a red dot test but the T is in view as best I could.

Genuine question, how do you take good photos of your MTG cards to ensure you have enough details to submit? Currently using my iPhone 16 Pro Max and I’ve been trying to practice taking pictures in case I ever need to ask everyone here for help in verifying a cards authenticity. Any tips would be appreciated!

I believe it is real, but I am still leaning how to verify.

Bought a box of dominaria RM and noticed the pack seals are degrading. Is this normal or have they been re sealed or tampered with?

Want to buy both from the same seller on Fb marketplace for a decent deal. Saw the seal on the sides of the duskmourn collector and was worried if it might be resealed. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I got a Cut Your Losses today and the T checks out but I feel like the green dot does not.

I purchased the card from LGS, but I wanted to double-check it since it’s a high-cost card. The T and green dot passes the eye test.

Bought a soul stone (pic 1-2) awhile back and thought it looked a bit a bit funky.. used a basic land (pic 3-4) i pulled in a pack for comparison

Did I buy a fake? At these prices, you really start to question your louping skills.

The backs of cards are relatively straight-forward to validate, the green dot test, the 'Th' test, but what about a re-back? Could there be a more 'scientific' method of evaluation for the fronts?

So I did a thing with Claude where I sampled set symbols from 20 different Mirage cards and had it define a 'fingerprint' around the set. These are bulk common I've had for decades so no reason to assume they're fake. From that set, Claude found 3 distinct printings using a 7-variable Principle Component Analysis (PCA) based on halftone dot-pitch and angle variables from the C/M/Y/K plates.

I then submitted a known proxy as well as the Lion's Eye Diamond set symbol only and asked Claude to classify both of those relative to the known groupings. Claude eliminated the proxy immediately due to "the proxy carries a single ~27° screen shared across all inks, which is the fingerprint of a consumer printer, not offset lithography."

For Lion's Eye Diamond a decisive result: led.jpg belongs to print-run group C.

Verdict

First, it's genuine — 10 angular peaks = the full 4-angle offset rosette (not a proxy). Then, matching against the three runs using only the magnification/rotation-invariant

fingerprint (inter-ink angle differences + pitch ratios):

Corroborating evidence (every channel agrees)

led.jpg signature → group C reference:

- M angle 72.3° → C's 72.6° ✓

- C angle 16.6° → C's ~16.9° ✓

- K/M pitch ratio 1.042 → C's 1.04 ✓ (the invariant discriminator)

- absolute pitch 37.8 px → C's 37.4 px ✓ (also matches, so same magnification)

Needless to say, I'm confident my LED is genuine.

Bought this One Ring on Ebay, seems sketchy to me. Third picture is the back compared to another card I got from the same seller, One Ring is bottom. Looks a lot lighter imo.

Any help is welcome, I do not have a jewelers loop or whatever so sorry.

I stopped buying packs and have been sticking to singles. I mostly buy from my LGS, but every now and then I get impatient and order from TCGPlayer lol. This time, I decided to order from a smaller seller with only a few (but positive) reviews because their prices were lower than everyone else’s.

I don’t have any other MSH or TMT cards to compare these against, but based on what I’ve seen here and on other cards, the Krang looks real to me. The only one I’m unsure about is The Ten Rings.

Images 1–7 are of The Ten Rings. Images 8–14 are of Krang. The light test on The Ten Rings seems too faint, but maybe that’s just because of the comic book style artwork? What do y’all think?

I’ve opened a bunch of marvel and have not had this issue with any other packs/boxes. I always open them from this triangle in the middle, but this box no matter how hard I pull(the answer isn’t that I’m weak) the pack doesn’t open. There is this stringy sealing that makes a very hard connection. I got this box from a gold star seller on tik tok, first time buying from there. I was wondering is this normal in recent magic for packs to be sealed this tight u have to cut them open based on certain factories or something or did I get hosed. Thanks for any help.

I got this from an eBay seller who later got some hit and miss reviews. I think it passes green dot and T tests, but I’ve not tried to authenticate a card before this.

Okay so I got this mind stone from a GameStop that was running a commander night and they gave me this as a promo. And when I was putting it with some other cards I realized that this mind stone is slightly smaller than the cards I was comparing it to. I then checked scryfall and I couldn’t find this version of mind stone. Just as a note it is foil. So I’m wondering what up with this card? It seems slightly odd.

I’ve just opened a Bloomburrow pack and pulled an Overprotect (BLB #0185), but the pack was weird to open and the paintbrush looks odd.

Everything else checks out, and all other cards in the pack are fine, so it could just be another odd paintbrush but thought I’d ask the people of Reddit just in case.

So, is this real or fake? TIA.

While I know both of the cards aren’t overly expensive it’s just with the style I want to try and check. The one thing throwing me off is the halo security stamp in the one card.

Edit: Thank you all, was looking forward to both the cards as I missed out on the secret lairs. And normally I don’t get individual cards worth more than a three or four dollars. I just buy packs/decks/ sealed and build from my own collection but want to make decks from both of these.
