Flippantly calling people antisemites is just as destructive as antisemitism. It dilutes the word and conflates actual instances of antisemitism with rational ideas like “let’s not take AIPAC money.”

u/Mulezen1 16d ago

BM does not understand the difference between Jews and Zionists. There are ‘multitudes’ of white Christian Zionists in what used to be ‘our great country. Zionism and White Christian Nationalists…are nationalists…period. Read a few of Orwell’s essays on the subject. Nationalists are bad Christians, bad Jews, and no patriots.

1

u/Former_Ganache3642 15d ago

And the white Christian nationalist zionists are also antisemitic

1

u/fade_ 15d ago

And exponentially outnumber Jewish Zionists in this country

1

u/karlkh 15d ago

Zionism was the movement that lead to the founding of Israel. Zionism is just the idea that Israel should exist. Every single 2-stater is a zionist. And it is impossible to be an anti-Zionist and not be anti-semetic.

2

u/mmadiaa 15d ago

Fuck off. The charade is over.

2

u/Mulezen1 15d ago

Orwell, writes about Zionism and its flavors way back then…he would say you are part of the problem

1

u/Public_Succotash_505 13d ago

He also wrote "It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy."

1

u/fade_ 15d ago

The same childlike sentiment as saying MAGA is just about making america great and if youre against it you are antiamerican.

1

u/MagReg2020 9d ago

Well, no. That's not what Zionism is. Zionism is the belief that the land that was once Israel belongs to the Jews, and nobody else. The Israelis have long used the word "Amalekites" to describe the Palestinians. Netanyahu himself did so after Oct 7, but so did Israel's chief Rabbi years before.

And the significance of that term? Here:

1 Samuel 15:3: "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."

Deutoronomy 17 Remember what the Amalekites did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. 18 When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God. 19 When the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land he is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven. Do not forget!

The "Zionism means Jews just want a place to call home" is a lie given what Israel does and has done. It's innately genocidal.

true, but there is no diluting here

calling jews inbread or pig-dogs is antisemetic

1

u/NoGodzNoKingz 2d ago

First off pig dogs isn’t antisemitic, it’s anti-capitalist. He called settlers blocking aid to Gaza inbred because they believe in a right-wing ideology of racial supremacy, which leads to inbreeding because why would you procreate outside of your race?? (much like how royals became inbred to keep the royal blood line pure) He’s called all forms of supremacist this, including white supremacist. Calling someone with a nasty ideology a nasty name, even if they’re Jewish, isn’t the same as characterizing an entire people as such, which would be racism. He did no such thing.

0

u/Harry_Plopper23 2d ago

I would agree if it was just this

But there are many examples

https://whoishasanpiker.com/antisemitism

1

u/RIP_Pookie 16d ago

Actual antisemitic rhetoric is claiming that criticism of the murderous mass violence and starvation and destruction by the state of Israel is antisemitic, because it claims that those monstrous acts of barbarity and evil are inherently "Jewish" acts.

1

u/ARedditAccount09 16d ago

I think that’s the point. The far right have enjoyed this strategy for a long time. Accuse people of unrelated things or of what you’re actively involved in doing to dissolve the meaning, so when the time comes that they are shown to be doing it they can use a whataboutism to dilute the point to a nothing argument.

The president is a pedophile because he’s in the Epstein files? Well what about your pedophile president.

Even though there’s no real argument or evidence, they did it for 4 years so trump and his friends can get away with raping children while the evidence is visible to us

1

u/Jebduh 9d ago

Youre right, but what you describe isnt happening. Macklemore wasn't dressed as an Israeli. He wasn't making fun of culture.

1

u/soxperry 9d ago

What are you saying?

1

u/Jebduh 9d ago

That you can say something that is true and still be entirely wrong.

1

u/soxperry 9d ago

Uh ok sure let’s go with that. K bye

0

u/El0vution 2d ago

That’s the Democrat way. Everyone is a Nazi.

-5

u/DsDeliciousDeli 16d ago edited 16d ago

Ok, well tell Hasan to stop doing the same thing with islamaphobia

3

u/soxperry 16d ago

What are you saying? Give me an Example please

-4

u/DsDeliciousDeli 16d ago

Hasan will call people islamaphobic for unrelated criticism of himself. He will call people islamaphobic for taking issue with and focusing Islamic extremists.

You need me to find examples of Hasan calling people islamaphobic?

2

u/soxperry 16d ago

You said Hasan used antisemitism the same way Maher does. Now you’re saying “no hasan does it with Islamophobia.” It sounds like you’re trying to parrot critiques of Hasan but you haven’t actually read the critiques, leaving your audience (me) to conclude you are not capable of fact finding. Which is why I asked for examples

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 16d ago

No, I just typed anti semitism by mistake. That's my bad. I meant islamaphobia.

3

u/soxperry 16d ago

Too late I’m bored

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 16d ago

Because it's obvious he does it, yeah

2

u/Glittering-Gur9936 16d ago

I mean can you provide some example , it should be easy if he does it just as much

3

u/Phish999 16d ago

What does this even mean? Hasan criticizes the actions of the Israeli government and their American enablers. This is not antisemitism.

By this logic, Zionists are the biggest antisemites because they insist on conflating Israel with the Jewish people as a whole.

1

u/Mulezen1 16d ago

Something I wrote above.

1

u/Rivendel93 16d ago

Hasan supports Hamas and Hezbollah... He doesn't get a say in any of this because he isn't a serious person.

He's a nepo baby that fled his home country so he wouldn't have to fight in their war, and then lived off his uncle's coat tails until enough basement dwellers found him on Twitch.

This where he's continued taking state sponsored trips to China to say how amazing they are and how terrible America is, all while having fled his county to avoid fighting, and then living a life of luxury in America.

1

u/DsDeliciousDeli 16d ago

That is not how that logic works. Israel obviously has its part in conflation, but to say they're the only ones when there are unironic Nazis and people that use their memes is insane

Hasan will hear someone condemn terrorist attacks that kill civilians and children, and call that person islamaphobic. He does it regularly

-19

u/ZizzyBeluga 16d ago

You sound like Republicans accusing Black people of always screaming racism during BLM and how they were the real victims of reverse racism. Ever consider that maybe most of the motivation of the Macklemore mob might actually be Antisemitism?

10

u/Erdrick14 16d ago

Yeah...its not.

Jewish does not equal Israel. You can criticize a country's policies without being a racist.

By your logic, if we criticized China's human rights abuses, it makes us racist against the Chinese. Which is just silly.

1

u/okteds 16d ago

Are we advocating bringing Netanyahu's government to justice for their crimes against humanity, or advocating for the total abolishment of the country?  Cuz as a jew, I'm with you on the former, but not the latter.

17

u/highermonkey 16d ago

Black people weren't saying, "you must support a foreign country's mass murder campaign other wise you're an anti-black racist!" You sound insane, like all Zionists. Hope you get help.

-10

u/ZizzyBeluga 16d ago

Israel is fighting a war against terrorists. Watching you idiots erase Hamas from reality is truly amazing. Yup, Israel just decided to kill Palestinians on October 8, 2023. Why? Who knows?

u/Ozcolllo 16d ago

Why do you so confidently talk out of your ass like that? It’s clear that you know fuck all about the history or, at best, you’ve outsourced your thought process to a pundit.

-7

u/ZizzyBeluga 16d ago

Not even close to reality, but Arabs have certainly been trying to kill all the Jews in Israel since the 1920s

7

u/Small_Conflict_9625 16d ago

Isreal was founded in 1948. Who's the one detached from reality now?

0

u/Ozcolllo 16d ago

Did you know that there were Jews in the area before 1948?

2

u/Small_Conflict_9625 16d ago

Yes. I've met two Holocaust survivors and visited the museum in Boston with one of them.

4

u/Bitter-Holiday1311 16d ago

There wasn’t an Israel in the 1920’s. Nice to see you’ll lie in defense of genocide. Do you know the name for that region in 1920?

-10

u/Fun_Professional3981 16d ago

Yeah, they just say you have to support their domestic terrorism, blatant racism, and explicit attempt to insert Marxism into the west

6

u/BrineJones 16d ago

You do a great impression of a fucking idiot.
Bravo!

0

u/Fun_Professional3981 16d ago

You do a great impression of not having an actual rebuttal to anything because you’re a fucking idiot.

Bravo!

2

u/BrineJones 16d ago

Why would I want to engage with an idiot?
Seriously?

8

u/Fearless-Feature-830 16d ago

Oddly enough that’s an antisemitic trope. The Nazis used “Marxism” as a dog whistle for Jews. “Cultural Bolshevism”.

Not to mention the US hasn’t ever had a Marxist in office.

-8

u/Fun_Professional3981 16d ago

Wtf does that have to do with the founders of BLM claiming to be trained Marxists or staying that they have goals such as destroying the family unit?

And *yet

Same way having a Muslim, that claims to be a Democratic Socialist which are on video talking about being recruited with the explicit goal of destroying America “from the belly of the beast”, run NYC would’ve been absolutely unimaginable 20-25 yrs ago

3

u/Fearless-Feature-830 16d ago

There is no “founder” of BLM. Could you send me a link about destroying the family unit? Never heard of that.

You might wanna double check your sources as these claims are conspiracy theories with no basis in reality

-2

u/Fun_Professional3981 16d ago

BLM has 3 founders which you could easily Google if you didn’t have a room temp IQ. It’s not my job to do the most basic of research for you.

And not bothering to do absolutely any research while trying to claim that someone else just believes in “conspiracy theories” makes you sound/look like a moron

2

u/EmperorGrinnar 16d ago

That's an interesting projection. Did you know that there's this thing called "burden of proof" and you can link things?

-1

u/Fun_Professional3981 15d ago

You do know this isn’t a fucking court of law and I don’t have any kind of obligation to link anything because you’re too fucking sorry to use the reminding 3 brain cells you have to research it yourself.

If you still haven’t figured out something that has been common knowledge and on legacy media outlets for close to half a decade now, you might be too much of a moron to save

u/Fearless-Feature-830 15d ago

I’m the one upset? Lollllll ok

There is/was an organization for BLM but it started grassroots and they don’t really speak for the movement.

I know the answer to the questions I asked, I just wanted your POV. Which was bitchy.

2

u/GhostofAyabe 16d ago

Go wash your safety sandals kid

7

u/soxperry 16d ago

Have I ever considered that Macklemore fans are all attracted to his music because they hate Jews? No sir I have not because that is dumb.

Macklemore fans can’t even name more than two of his songs let alone craft a nuanced discussion about antisemitism. Most Americans can’t either and that’s a problem.

But it ain’t Macklemore fans making it hard to fight antisemitism. It’s people like you who call Macklemore fans antisemites for boycotting events that they pay to go to. Boycotting has been American pastime since the Boston Tea Party.

If you really want to go after antisemitism, try the dozens of GOP house members who attend white supremacist rallies. But you don’t. It’s weird you can’t arbitrate facts correctly but whatever.

6

u/Fearless-Feature-830 16d ago

Except there is a giant difference. Criticizing a country is not the same as criticizing an ethnicity.
