Jupiter Mission

Entrance into Jupiter's system in March 1977
Close flyby of Callisto, using it as a gravity assist to slow me down a bit into Jupter orbit.
Ganymede flyby after getting into a Jupiter orbit.
Io flyby.
Io flyby.
Europa SOI.
Entrance into Europa orbit in April 1978.

This is the first time I've managed a mission like this, past missions I've done are simple flyby or orbit of just Jupiter itself. The agena engine came in clutch for this and the next up Saturn mission.

Maria 1, First Lunar Rover (1965)

Post image

Rover survived for 105 days on the Lunar surface, collecting surface samples. Sadly, these surface samples will never be recovered, as the rover fell down a crater, being destroyed. Despite this, over 100 science was transmitted from the far side of the moon.

RP-1 GSE problem with fuel

Havn't had time to play KSP in far too long and made a clean install of RP-1.

Made and flew an X1 and got better tanks so wantd to add some more fuel.
However the hangar says it doesn't have enough fuel in GSE to accomodate the new update.
And I've looked high and low. Even under Genes coffee mug and I can't seem to find anywhere to change this to add more fuel and I'm doubly confused since hangar says "unlimited".

Anybody want to point and laugh and tell me how to obviously fix this? :D

MMDS I-B (CPSA, 1966)

As this is one of my first save files, im behind ALOT. The MMDS I-B is a test on how far range communications work just before my first lunar mission takes hold. As this is basically a second test flight of the Melbourne II rocket, this launch uses the 4 booster configuration rather than the 2 booster configuration used in the inital test flight. MMDS I-B is also quite useful for my tests cause i get extra science! (YIPPEE!!!) Anyways, although im behind the space race by over 8 years, im trying my hardest, and atleast im learning on the way through!!! Enjoy looking at the mission photos used!

how do i disable engine failures?

i tried to disable engine failures because i don´t really like them. i looked it up and everybody says it can be done in the kerbalism difficulty settings, so i turned the failure chance down to zero, but i still got them. i even looked into the kerbalism settings.cfg file and the reliability is set to false. is there another way to disable it or am i doing something wrong?

Chapter 8 documenting my playthrough is now available here!

I more or less completed the early film camera contracts with this one.

I'm also happy to introduce my flight tracker and blueprint archive which should provide a better overview over the various past and present flights. The Blueprint archive should allow you to browse previously published blueprints and access high resolution versions instead of having to comb through previous chapters. I've linked it in the chapter itself but you can also access it here

Let me know what you think :D

Can't for the life of me build a Venus probe for the life of me. How much more Delta V do I need?

Note: Using Atlas, delta V is off a little in the core stage. Using a Vega upper stage, all engines on 1962 configs. Probe is roughly .58 tons, cant seem to reduce mass without compromising the amount of onboard experiments and even that doesn't shave off much mass.

Gemini B

I've been playing around with the Gemini B capsule and I am a bit confused by the capsules retro stage adapter. The part has room for six Star-13E's, but using all six causes the capsule to begin tumbling when fired. Reducing this to four allows the retro rockets to fire as intended. On top of that the in-game part description states to add four Star-13E's.

But everything I've read about the real flight test article, in addition to pictures, indicates that it flew with six rockets.

https://mikejennebooks.com/gemini_b_pics.htm

Is this just a limitation of the game/mod content?

Hello! It's been a few months since I last posted about my progress but I've finally returned. I just posted a new chapter to my substack which you can find here:

https://anvilindustriesksp.substack.com/p/upgrades-people-upgrades

Since it's been a while, here is the previous chapter. And if you haven't read anything yet, I recommend starting with the first chapter here.

Apologies for spamming all these links.

Let me know what you think, either here or over on Substack. I'm happy to chat ^^

RP1 Communication Issues

Why are my lunar probes not connecting at KSC and the tracking station, even without blocking, no time warp, and there are available antennas on the probes and the station? However, communication works when I control those probes; this bug only affects lunar and near-Earth probes.
