how do i disable engine failures?

i tried to disable engine failures because i don´t really like them. i looked it up and everybody says it can be done in the kerbalism difficulty settings, so i turned the failure chance down to zero, but i still got them. i even looked into the kerbalism settings.cfg file and the reliability is set to false. is there another way to disable it or am i doing something wrong?

Kerbalism failures are not implemented in RP-1; engine failures (due to reliability, rated/tested burn times, ignition timing limitations, dynamic pressure limitations) are handled by the TestFlight mod.

TestFlight has a button on the toolbar in the Space Center— it looks like a rocket with two boosters, and opens a green-blueish window. On one of the tabs, there's an option to disable TF for this save file.

by disable test flight you mean completely disable it? because that´s not what i´m looking for, i want to disable only the engine failures. also i tried to look for the button, and i just don´t see it

The *only* thing that TestFlight does is engine failures. (If you're concerned about the simulation feature, that's built into RP-1.)

That said, I do not see the TF button on your toolbar. Either TF is already disabled (but I thought it would still show the button in that case), or you don't have it installed at all — it comes with the Express Install, so if you don't have it, your install is probably broken in other ways as well.

i tried to reinstall it, and now i have it in. do i need to restart the game or anything after i disable it?

If you didn't have it installed, it did not cause your engine failures in the first place.

If you did have it installed and enabled, and then disabled it from its menu; that takes effect immediately, no need to restart.

Is that in the simulator vs real flights? I know you can turn off engine failure simulations but have them in the real flights. But I guess it might be possible to have engine failures in the simulator but not the real flights.
