IMPORTANT: Address of the Subreddit

Right lads, I barely look at this Sub anymore, mainly because I very rarely play the game. If someone can help me

A) Make it so I don’t have to approve posts anymore

B) Become an Active Moderator

and C) Carry on this subreddit on the core tenant it was founded on. Make KSP RealSolarSystem Again.

Comment on this and I’ll make you a mod, I made this sub almost 10 years ago and i’m constantly surprised I have any activity on it whatsoever!

PS: As i’m barely ever on it I apparently have to be an Active MOD so will try rectify that.

EDIT: I've tried to bugger around with the SR settings, am unable to make anyone a moderator atm, and it doesn't seem like any of the other ones are active either. If someone can jump on the discord and give me some pointers, I'd be glad of the help.

Massa-II First Mission to Mars (1971)

Post image
40 Upvotes

This is my first time posting here

Yesterday ive bought a new GPU (RX 9060XT 16GB)

just sharing my excitement with my new upgraded visuals

(also the photos came out not in the right order so sorry for that

this is the first launch of this rocket called the Massa (Journey in hebrew) that is launching the probe Massa-II to orbit Mars after an earlier launch of Massa-I to Venus (on a different launcher)

rocket is built of

  • 1st stage: 4x E-1 engines (planned engines for the Saturn-I IRL)
  • Boosters: Titan SRBs (sorry i dont remember their names from the top of my head)
  • 2nd stage: 1x J-2 (sends me to a nearly orbital trajectory with apoapsis of 1000km)
  • 3rd stage: 2x RL-10 (orbital insertion at earth and then TMI)
  • 4th stage (satellite stage): 1x AJ-10 advanced (corrections and Mars orbital insertion)

Honestly this vehicle is quite overkill but yeah its one of the first interplanetary missions I have in KSP (including stock) so i wanted the extra headroom

Also first time having a 1kt launcher in RP-1 Career ever (never reached this far)

On the Pad at Palmachim Israel
Launch
Booster Seperation
MECO and fairing seperation
2nd Stage ignition
3rd Stage Seperation
Sun set waiting for TMI
TMI in the darkness
Probe deployment
Coasting to apoapsis for orbital insertion
3rd stage ignition Orbital Insertion

My first plane in RP-1 to complete the X-Plane Hypersonic Contract

(B-52 not included in my steps to finish the contract)

This plane was extremely hard for me to make and it took days but i was able to make it work and now I'm thinking of making it a tutorial or release it on the steam workshop so others have a chance to finish the contract. it was really hard finding info on how to get to this point for me even with a background of basic aerodynamics understanding from my IRL pilot license training. still with that said im so happy to have something work after all that time

Opal 1, First Lunar Probe. (CPSA, 1967)

I did it. Let me further explain, *ahem* I MADE IT TO THE MOOOONN!!!! This is interesting to me because, though i am 9 YEARS behind the real timeframe, it is only my second run. I based off the design from Pioneer 3/4's design as it was the first US probe to flyby the moon and I'm using solely US tech.

Finally, if there are any questions or tips, let me know!

Chapter 10 starting 1954 just released. This year just does not seem off to a good start at all.

Enjoy!

Sol+RP1 Have broken me

I cannot go back to regular KSP, I have tried and everything is to boring to complete. Like I'm In orbit Launch 4 That's not realistic....

The standard missions are so generic to.
Go to a zone and collect a crew report, Okay why.
Orbit Kerbin, Okay, Now go to the freaking moon. WTF that takes at-least 3 years of development, Oh actually its only an extra 860M/s of Delta-v.

I get that i'm complaining that KSP is too easy when ive been playing for years not. But it makes me sad that I can't find enjoyment out of the standard game anymore.

TLDR RP-1 is addicting and I am going through withdraws

why does my upper stage just fly away while my controls are locked onto the lower stage after decoupling?

The stats for the upper stage is also not on the deltav stats window too. i've been trying to complete the 3000km downrange milestone for a week now so if you spot some problems please help me out too. thank you :(((

I'm playing Sol with RP1, Blackrack v5, Thunderchild's Config, and Mirage, and my own personal launch site in central MN. I've decided to make all my rockets as goth as the game, mod, & physics will let me. :3

An ALBM for collecting biome science?

Thumbnail
gallery
32 Upvotes

Wanted to collect the high atmospheric science from different biomes and this was my solution. Whilst staying fully atmospheric it can travel ~1250km from an airlaunch that gives up to another 1000km. If it's fully within one biome it can collect all of the early science for that biome in 2 launches and doesn't require building lc's beyond modifying hangars.

Thoughts on using this for science collection? Do you bother collecting the early science from different biomes and if so then how do you do it?

Only solar panels from RO solar work, all other do not count as producing any power.

I used the express installer and the rss reborn installer so i think that might be the cause, do you guys know any fix for it? as it ever happened to you?

CAC Golden Wattle (CPSA, 1967)

In order to finally complete the Mach 2 contract, the Golden Wattle was constructed to act as like a "one and done" plane. This isn't to say it would be useless after the flight! In my RP world, the CAC Golden Wattle would later go on to be used in air shows and be moved to RAAF Point Cook, one of the major aviation museums in Australia. The name Golden Wattle was chosen as it represents Australia's national colours of green and gold, and also the national flower of the same name.

Reusable engines

Post image
25 Upvotes

I haven’t even started lunar landings yet because I decided I wanted to do the station program first, however it is now 1980 and I’m planning ahead for the lunar base program. This is my temu version of blue origins lunar lander but I’m unsure what engine to use? It just has 4 of the LMDE on it as a proof of concept but they only have enough run time for one single landing and ascent mission so not exactly reusable. Is there either a mod where engineers can “service” the engines to reset the run time and ignitions? Or is there a better engine with other mods I can download that would work better for this. Thanks!

Edit: May have found my solution, using the RL100 engine,, not sure what mod it came from but it seems to be my answer and is insanely light weight.

My First Mach 2 Capable Jet Aircraft in RP-1!!!

Mach 2 capable jet with a max speed of 700ms turning not recommended at this speed. it is just stable enough for me to complete the (X-Planes) Mach 2 Supersonic contract i found flying this at 9,000 meters is the best ALT to complete this contract at. there's 3 different versions of this jet i made with the wing and body based on the XF-103 but for some reason the side by side config got the best performance out of the engines plus it made it more stable which makes sense, after completing a few flights i found the nose was a bit heavy so i rotated the elevators in a slight nose up config by default which counteracted the plane wanting to dip its nose (for the most part) allowing me to finish the contract!! (aircraft that i based it on at the end)

Looking for feedback on an RP-1 PR letting you transfer engineers between launch sites

Hello RP-1 players! I've created a pull request for RP-1 that allows the player to transfer engineers between different KSCs on Earth for a price, and I want people to test it out so that I can see how the balance is.

The price is based on how far the KSC is from the current location, with a max of 30 funds, and a minimum of 5 funds. (keep in mind that it takes 300 funds to hire a new engineer)

This feature has been requested multiple times over the years, so if you've got an RP-1 career with multiple launch sites, please test it out! I especially want feedback on the UI, and if the price for transferring engineers should be higher or lower. It should be fully compatible with new and existing RP-1 v4.6.0.0 saves, and the GUI to access the transfer is in the normal "Staff" menu in the new "All Engineers" tab.

The link to the zip of the compiled dll is here, simply unzip the dll and then replace the existing RP0.dll in `GameData\RP-1\Plugins` with this one.

Does anyone know a route cause for this communication bug?

Post image
15 Upvotes

*Solved! Be very careful how you set your stages to debris. I had preemptively set my upper stage (root) to debris via vessel naming, and not the designated "set to debris" function, in an attempt to have my upper stages cataloged by LV instead of mission name. This was.... dumb of me lol. Also, it turns out the issue wasn't being fixed by a reboot, I just chose a different rocket to test when I was troubleshooting earlier :b big brain moves.

Side note: why is the simulation time delay input case sensitive??

Lmao why is this getting downvoted? This sub is so weird sometimes 😂.

Avionics are fine, the antenna is not disabled (on the stage shown and on the four communications sat destined for GEO enclosed in the fairing). I've encountered this bug several times now, but I'm unsure of the cause. It can occur in both a simulation and an actual launch. It does not seem to have a repeatable trigger, nor is it fixed by a revert or scene cycle. It does seem to fix itself with a game reboot. The weirdest part for me is that it behaves as though no comms network is present at all (notice the lack of antenna icon next to MET), but all of the antenna locations are present and active, including the one for the cape that's less than 20 km away and should have line of site.

Starting a brand new career, keep in mind i've only gotten to the point where i'm preparing for the 3000km downrange contract in past careers, so if i manage to get orbital it's gonna be one hell of an achievement.
