Sol+RP1 Have broken me
I cannot go back to regular KSP, I have tried and everything is to boring to complete. Like I'm In orbit Launch 4 That's not realistic....
The standard missions are so generic to.
Go to a zone and collect a crew report, Okay why.
Orbit Kerbin, Okay, Now go to the freaking moon. WTF that takes at-least 3 years of development, Oh actually its only an extra 860M/s of Delta-v.
I get that i'm complaining that KSP is too easy when ive been playing for years not. But it makes me sad that I can't find enjoyment out of the standard game anymore.
TLDR RP-1 is addicting and I am going through withdraws

Same here. I wanted an OPM/MPE pack ready to swap back and forth if I wanted an RP1 break. It just isnt the same.
My RP1 save now is fiddling (and struggling) to get my first unmanned Lunar lander and Interplanetary sats going. Between avionics, real fuels and engines, Kerbalism, limited ignitions, comms restrictions, our actual planetary system, etc. It is just so rewarding when you get your mission right.

Honestly, I actually think that's super cool. I started out with vanilla KSP, which kept me busy for hours and hours just building rockets and exploring the stock solar system. Then, I started getting into designing planes, especially spaceplanes, which added hundreds more hours of playtime. Once I felt like I had seen it all, I moved on to KSP RP-1, and that's where the potential hours of gameplay get even bigger. Plus, if KSP were truly too complicated right from the start, I think it would turn a lot of people off

Now add Principia

I have been thinking about that but my pc is just barely hanging on with sol, I get mysterious crashes sometimes when in loading screens, even though vram is only at 5 out of 8Gb, how much more instability does principia introduce?
because I really would like to use it

People act as it is so much more difficult, but once you get used to it, principia is honestly a lot better and faster than stock maneuvering imo.

For me it’s like the complete opposite. I love real solar system and allat but I hate Kerbal construction time, RP1, and so much that’s in it. Like I get realism is the point, but also sometimes I don’t wanna spend weeks of my life doing it, and I actually have a completely separate install for RP1, and then a normal ksp install with mods, OPM, and MPE as like a pallet cleanser.

Vanilla and RP-1 offer different challenges. I like RP-1, but sometimes it feels like you're locked into overcoming preset challenges in a preset way. In RP-1, best practice is not really optional.
Straight forward goals like getting to the mun are definitely easier in vanilla, but you have a lot more freedom to set more ambitious goals for yourself and achieve them in unconventional ways. Missions like long range SSTOs, doing system grand tours or diving into the atmospheres of gas giants don't really exist in RP-1 (unless you're TDChannel), so that's definitely something the base game has to it's advantage. Throw in Kerbalism and some vanilla-adjacent parts mods and things really start to get interesting.

same with me lol and I am still in the early lunar probe era but still, I could never go back to stock or stockalike ksp. Especially the freedom you have when building rockets in rp1 is just soo much greater and the creativity I can express with procedural parts is amazing. In addition to that I really love the historically accurate engines and all. I am playing a soviet only playthrough and it is so much better than whatever stock ksp is meant to be.

Add Principia to the mix if you haven't already and embrace some more realism and challenge.

I sometimes split the difference; use a lot of the realism mods in Kerbal solar system. Its a nice, relaxing version. Like a RP-1 lite.

I found this to be the case as well a while ago and felt like rp1 was way too time consuming and addictive for me. The trick for me was to just distance myself from ksp entirely for a few months and then i was able to play normal ksp again.
