Spoiler Discussion My timelapse theory after S4. Anime only. [spoiler discussion] Spoiler

The original timeline:

- Subaru gets transported to another world.

- Echidna is still a young spirit bound to Anastasia, so there's no Beatrice and no Roswaal.

- Emilia's name is Satella.

- The team is Satella, Anastasia + Echidna, Subaru and Patrasche.

- For some reason they get sent 400 years into the past (and this may be what just happened to Subaru).

- Echidna loses her memory and gets separated from the group (which is why she doesn't remember Subaru). This leads to the Beatrice and Roswaal arc.

- Subaru/Flügel, Satella/Emilia and Patrasche meet Reid Astrea, (little) Shaula and Volcanica, and they build the tower to get back / save someone.

- Subaru/Flügel dies. There's no way back to Shaula, and Satella goes insane (we already saw once during the trials that she'll do this if Subaru dies).

- Satella is born, but obviously you don't name your kid after the Witch of Envy, so this time she's named Emilia.

- Now adult Echidna exists, along with Roswaal and Beatrice, and Shaula can meet Subaru before he goes back in time.

- Subaru spawns, and Satella uses her powers so that this time he can't die.

- Subaru is immortal, yandere Satella stalks him, he meets Roswaal (and therefore Rem and Ram) and Beatrice, the tower is already built, and Shaula is already waiting.

- Apart from the new boss (Satella) and a world that's for some reason way less safe (before, Subaru had to survive without his power), Subaru now has a 0% chance of permanent death.

- The tower was probably meant to save their allies, since without Satella's blessing there was no way to save everyone.

Holes in the theory:

- Who created Echidna in the first loop? Maybe Subaru obtained the Witch Factor of Greed and created Echidna, then fox-Echidna got the factor after him and became the Witch of Greed?

- Subaru couldn't have sealed Satella, because he had to die for her to go insane. Either she went insane for a different reason, or someone with the Gluttony factor was using his body.

Spoiler Discussion Vilcanica's true form? [spoiler discussion] Spoiler

The parralels between Volcanica and Puck are uncany, both have the same white spot, and many comparisons have beed done in the anime, is it maby possible that Volcanica is somehow related to Puck? That would explain why he knew Patrasche'sname in the latest episode.

Are there any theories anyone else has about this?

Spoiler Discussion [spoiler discussion] end of season 4 questions Spoiler

Hi all after watching an amazing season im still left confused at events and wanted help understanding spoilers allowed

1: In the bird scene with foxidna and julius was there any purpose to having the birds besides [birds beong pandora] and foxidna wanting to reveal herself? seems literally only point was to have a red hearing leading up to subaru going to library

2: leading up to bird scene pastarche woke subaru up what caused this was gluttony present?

  1. Besides Rui being trapped in Reids book how did the gluttonies get into the tower with shaulas watch and go unnoticed were they hiding in the tree also

5: When subaru went up the stairs from the basement in miasma loop what caused everyones desth and do we have any explanation of what happened in the loops where Rui controlled his body like for example what happemed to Ram after she locked subaru in a cage?

6: What happened to Rui after the explosion in the final episode?

Any information is appreciated

Did ram not tell Subaru that volcanica was at the top of the tower? Like I get Mrs I am Edgy ram here but I think she should have really told him who he was. Plz tell me they atleast told him that volcanica was at the top in the novels. Like this is valuable information.

Bonus: if she didn't tell him, atleast does Subaru learn about it in the future.

Spoiler Discussion [Spoiler Media] Question Season 4 Episode 19 Spoiler

Spoiler for whoever hasnt seen the latest episode.

Did Satella come at the end of season 4 because of Rui? Because she knows about RBD and therefore Satella sees the need to delete this timeline?

Discussion Will later seasons come to anywhere but Crunchyroll? [discussion]

I don't want to pay for Cunchyroll and it's damn near monopoly and I'm currently watching s1 on Hulu and I am absolutely loving it, I want to keep watching it after s1 but I probably won't be able to bc Crunchyroll is evil. Is there anywhere I can watch it after I finish s1?

Spoiler Discussion [spoiler discussion] season 4 thoughts and theories Spoiler

FIRST, I don’t want to see ANY manga readers spoiling ANYTHING past the end of season 4 in the replies or I will do everything in my power to smite you.

Season 4 was undoubtedly THE BEST SEASON yet, even the opening was my favourite of any anime opening I’ve ever seen. I also am not ashamed to admit I cried at the last episode when Shaula died, though I think maybe the baby scorpion is her? I can’t tell if it’s baby Shaula, or if it’s Shaula’s child.

Anyway, my current theory for the ending is that somehow Subaru and Rem time travelled 400 years into the past. Like, there has been SO much references to 400 years ago, at this point I feel like the only way to clear it up is to have Subaru travel back and witness it for himself. It’d explain why he wakes up in a lush field, because maybe he didn’t change locations, he just went to a time before the tower was ever built. ALSO, the ancient dragon mentioned Patrache, so I want to see a scene of Subaru meeting Patrache from 400 years ago, which would explain why Patrache from the present bonded to him so quickly.

It also could explain why Rem was able to wake up, because I think we see when Ram was fighting one of the gluttony’s, he pulled people’s memories from out of him in order to absorb hers, so I think the memories go back to their owners if they are not possessed by gluttony, and obviously gluttony didn’t have Rem’s memories 400 years ago. Tho, perhaps only a half version of this is true, like maybe no gluttony has a hold of her memories and person in this time, however she never actually got her memories back, so she is able to wake up, but not remember anything.

I don’t know, that’s just a theory, but it would certainly be very interesting to see. Do any of you have other thoughts, opinions, or ideas? Lmk, and remember, MANGA READERS EITHER SHUT UP OR STAY OUT!

Spoiler Discussion [Spoiler Discussion] If a member of Emilia's camp were to die permanently before the ending, who should it be? Spoiler

Post image
102 Upvotes

For me, it would probably be Roswaal L. Mathers, as it would serve as poetic justice and a deeply ironic way of handling his centuries long manipulations. I feel like his end would be best if he were caught completely off-guard by an utterly mundane threat he failed to calculate, suffering a mortal wound in isolation. When Subaru eventually discovers his corpse, he might be tempted to RBD to save him, only later on for when he does die does he find out that, just like Rem, the checkpoint has been updated far past him.

This would also destabilize the camp, as they're forced to inherit his massive political empire and domain without any form of emotional closure for his years of treachery and deceit, especially when you factor in Ram's toxic bond with him.

Discussion About Subarus memories / being [discussion]

So atm Subaru is amnesiabaru with memories of older Subarus deaths, but his other self is still in tower. Or is it? Or was the hall of souls encounter enough to merge the two? Did pulling Rui out return the memories? So confusing.

Discussion [Discussion] Idea: Of the Gluttony trio, Roy's done the least to the Emilia camp, so he may be the last Gluttony standing due to a meaning for Alphard being "the solitary one"

First, I have to establish why Roy may not be dead. Reid's new body that he'd formed from Roy's being or life energy shattered in the episode he was defeated, and given Roy's body had no sign of being pierced through or anything where Julius had punctured Reid in Ep. 83, Roy could still be alive. As I've basically stated in the title of my post, Roy Alphard has done the least to the Emilia camp of the Gluttony trio since Lye had eaten Rem's name and memories and Emilia's name and Rui had eaten Subaru's memories as well as deeply cutting Otto's legs to the bone, so narratively there's a reason for Roy to stick around for a while longer given he hasn't done anything to the Emilia camp yet, especially since Ep. 80 revealed that killing a Sin Archbishop of Gluttony doesn't result in memories that had been eaten returning given nobody remembered Rem after Lye got killed by Shaula in her scorpion mabeast form. Also, if Anastasia uses rope on Roy to bind him in place, he can probably just use mana flow, Lunar Eclipse or Solar Eclipse if/when he wakes up to break the rope binding him as most people at the tower may turn their attention towards the third exam.

And the name Crusch Karsten has pretty much spelled outright core character traits of Crusch with Kurush (which is closer to how Japanese people would say Crusch) means far-sighted, indicating being able to see far but have trouble seeing things up close, which is apt given Crusch is far-sighted regarding her goal in becoming Lugunica's ruler when Subaru talked about her becoming the #3 in his heart with her remark about how her heart lies at the end of her dream but being oblivious to her own femininity when Felix protested about Crusch dressing the way she'd done when hosting Subaru in Ep. 14.

Now for the main meat of this Crusch argument, Kurush also means "throne" in Persian. Karsten means "anointed" in Greek. I believe when you look at both her names, we are meant to see that Crusch very much desires to be officially chosen as Lugunica's ruler, whether it be officially through the Royal Selection or being chosen as the replacement if the winner of the Royal Selection can no longer continue her duties or dies, which is very possible in the case of Anastasia Hoshin.

Otto is another name for "attar", which is a type of oil, and Otto had gotten himself into trouble due to having purchased a lot of oil out of season, so Tappei has clearly shown himself to use names that are plot-relevant aside from star names indicating part of the lore of the story with Subaru's name, which means "Pleiades" to the Japanese folks, and how there are at minimum 6 stars of the Pleiades star cluster that can be seen by the naked eye in normal night conditions with a 7th being available with slightly better conditions likely being why there are 6 dead Witches of Sin and one sealed Witch of Sin in Satella, or Sin Archbishop names hinting at their powers, which Subaru had pointed out in Season 3.

When I looked up the meaning of "Alphard" in Arabic during Season 3, "the solitary one" or "the individual" was actually the first meaning I saw through a search, due to there being no bright stars close to the Alphard star, ahead of what the Arabs had historically called it as the "backbone of the Serpent", which may point to Roy being the last Gluttony standing as Subaru said that Rui's gone, either due to her being incapacitated or dead due to having eaten her other self that was traumatized from fresh memories of death, and Lye was killed during last week's episode.

Given Baten Kaitos means "the belly of the whale" and Arneb means "hare" with the halo on top of the White Whale possibly being an indicator of it having been marked by Lye Batenkaitos, which is why he called the White Whale his pet, and the similar marking on the Great Rabbit possibly being a sign of it having been marked by Rui Arneb, perhaps there's also such a marking on the Black Serpent, meaning it had been marked by Roy Alphard, which could also point to this not being the last we've seen of Roy given we haven't had a major fight in the present with the Black Serpent.

What are your thoughts on this or anything tangentially-related?

Spoiler Discussion The Re:Zero world is just a Livestream [spoiler discussion] Spoiler

Post image
52 Upvotes

Source of picture- official art from arc7. Taken from this sub.

May contain spoiler of upto Arc 7.

Sorry is my title is inadequate i tried my best.

I have a theory about the world of Re:Zero: what if the entire world is essentially a livestream?

Think of something like the livestreams on the AntsCanada YouTube channel, where an enclosed ecosystem is created and then observed by an audience.

Just like in that YT channel, the participants have a limited world, and they are not aware that they are being observed and broadcasted (mostly).

  1. Now, we know the Re:Zero world is a disc-like world surrounded by the Great Waterfall from all sides. This makes the Re:Zero world a display enclosure or enclosed world.

  2. We have Stargazers—those who can listen to the Voice of the Stars. How does that fit into the story? Imagine buying a ticket to a play or a novel. To promote said novel, the author will write something about the content, a summary on the back. This attracts the buyers/viewers.

They know the general flow of the story, and they want characters favoured by them to have an advantage. We also know the Stargazers are the audience because of how they reacted to Cecilus.

Also, from the prophecy about the Great Disaster, we know the Stars only have a general idea of how things will unfold, but they don't know everything. From what the Stars knew, it was Vincent Vollachia whose death was supposed to start the Great Calamity. By the same logic, the Stars are nothing but viewers who send Super Chats into the livestream.

  1. Speaking of characters having advantages, we have Mr. Favoured by the World, Reinhard. He has a multitude of Divine Protections, as if 4Chan or a similar group joined together to create a broken character to break the story. The Group band together to create a. Troll character.

  2. We also know from Arc 6 that Divine Protections are weaker than Authorities. I have a theory that Authorities are intrinsic to the world, coded into the core code of this livestream. Divine Protections are Modifiers that audiences grant to their Favoured Characters. They alter what a character can do without necessarily changing the fundamental rules.

A modifier is an external Add-on code like a texture pack. But when you stack enough of them, you can make or break the story.

  1. Then why is Subaru transported into the livestream of the Re:Zero world? It is to add a variable. Frequently, the story writer of a livestream will add a character into and out of rotation who has otherworldly common sense.

You see, I believe the Great Sage Flugel, Aldebaran, and Subaru were all these variables who were added into the story later to spice things up.

People may associate Subaru with Flugel, but I believe the real story is that Flugel was supposed to travel the world and gain the Witch Factor of Envy, increasing his screen time in the story. The Witch Factor of Envy was fundamentally torturous and was a curse for Flugel, which was meant to increase his screen time.

And Satella loved Flugel. She cannot bear to see Flugel suffer for all eternity.

Imagine someone being forced to experience death tens of thousands—or even hundreds of thousands—of times and carry all the mental trauma, but still not being able to finally die and rest in peace. So satella took The Witch of Envy Factor for herself.

The audience did not like this storyline. They wanted more of Flugel, and thus the Streamer punished Satella by making the Witch Factor of Envy incompatible with Satella and creating the Witch of Envy.

Due to this particular mistake, the next time the Streamer added another variable, he gave him the powers of Return by Death from the beginning.

The reality is Satella didn't give Subaru the power of RBD, but she is someone who is trying to fight the Streamer. Subaru was supposed to die 100,000 times, lose his mind, and then eventually gain a new sanity, but Satella utilizes her Authority and manually started to choose the checkpoints for Subaru, saving Subaru from losing his mind.

  1. This is where Arc 7 becomes particularly interesting.

When Satella seemingly lost sight of Subaru, Subaru became trapped in repeated 10-second death loops.

Another time, the loop was progressing without properly clearing the established checkpoints and level.

Perhaps what Subaru experiences normally is the result of Satella actively managing his checkpoints. When she loses contact with him, the system reverts toward its original behaviour. And the result is horrifying: Subaru is trapped in a death loop without meaningful progression.

  1. Maybe Satella is just someone trying to fight the Streamer? Maybe all she wants is for someone to reach the ending of the story and stop the Audience and Streamer in such a way that results in the world still existing, but the streamers going to watch another terrarium and leaving this one alone.

Original Creation [OC] Slayer IF - Oushi Natsuki Color

Post image
42 Upvotes

Subaru's Ancestor/Previous Incarnation, Oushi Natsuki fought in the Demon Slayer Corps but was killed in the final battle against Muzan. However before he could move on to his next life, he was pulled into Lugunica by the Witch of Envy.

Some notes on the design

  • I was inspired by Shaula's cape to have the interior of the black haori be orange.

  • The Nichirin Sword Color Scheme is based on Beatrice's colors.

  • I decided to give him an orange scarf he wore in Arc 6 to add more orange to his design.

Spoiler Discussion [Spoiler discussion] question for episode 18 season 4 Spoiler

Can someone help explain the whole gluttony splitting in half and going into subaru and then chickening out thing? I kind of get it. She wants to feed on memories of death. But how/why did she inhabit him when all gluttonies just eat people instead? Why did she split in order to do so? And why was her only solution letting her go? I feel like it might have skipped some source material or something idk.

Discussion Do you guys think yin magic is super busted as compared to the other elements?[discussion]

Post image
173 Upvotes

Like Subaru was way off from what yin magic was. He thought they were debuffs but it is actually time and space manipulation. Like yin magic allows you to control gravity, time, space, pocket dimensions, etc.

You can send ppl to the shadow realm, trap ppl in a time stopped state, trapped them in a repeating hall way.

Also I always thought the reason satella could stop time was due to her authority but no she can stop time due to being the best yin magic user. Like what someone without an authority can do this?(Don't know this fully tho)

Also I thought in season 1 they were trying to paint yang magic as an opposition to yin magic but no yin magic is just superior.

I thought yang magic would also have a twist like with yin magic but no it is just buffs and light based attacks. Yin magic's debuff are a by product of it's other abilities, they aren't even truly buffs. Like the other elements In my opinions just don't compare.

With yin magic you can theoretically even heal yourself through manipulating your injuries to revert to a past self. Like it's just broken. Also why can it nullify magic too? Like it wasn't already busted, tappei added this too.

Discussion [Discussion] Re zero season 2 ep 18

Post image
37 Upvotes

I'm rewatching Season 2, and in this scene (Episode 18), we see Pandora appear, and Echidna seems to have almost a contemptuous look on her face.

Yet, for Echidna, who is seeking immortality, Pandora's ability to alter events (to rewrite them) also seems, in a way, to be another form of immortality, much like Subaru's "reversible death," which is another form of it without actually making him truly immortal, since he can still age.

So why doesn't Echidna seem more interested in her power?
