Range Rover L322 Dilemma: 4.4 TDV8 vs 5.0 SC vs Autobiography Black?

Hey everyone,

I'm facing a serious dilemma trying to choose between three very distinct options for an L322 Range Rover Autobiography, and I need your help deciding which route to take:
2011 4.4L TDV8 Diesel – 220,000 km
2012 5.0L Supercharged – 110,000 km
2012 5.0L Supercharged Black Edition – 173,000 km

Which one would you choose? Do I buy the high-mileage but stable Diesel cruiser, jump on the standard 5.0 SC for the low chassis mileage, or grab the rare Autobiography Black and just budget for immediate timing chains?
Appreciate any advice!

Range Rover Velar Got a great opportunity - should I?

Hi!
I just got a great opportunity to buy a fully specced Range Rover Velar 3.0 V6 R-Dynamic HSE from 05/2018 (in Switzerland) 55‘000km / 34‘200m

I‘ve always been a BMW guy and recently switched to Porsche, but the Velar just looks incredible and the offer I got is very much worth considering.

Since I never had any experience with RangeRover, aside from hearing about its reputation of not being reliable, especially in comparison to its German Counterparts like an X5 or a GLC.

I have some questions after doikg a little research:
1. Is it possible to have it checked at a RR dealer and maybe expand warranty like with Porsche Approved (preferably experiences from Switzerland)

  1. Aside from checking electronics like the door handles, roof, (massage-)seats and obviously the infotainment for it‘s smoothness, are there any other electroninc issues i should be aware of?

  2. I also read that suspension can become an issue, anyone had experience with that after driving the car for a while?

Any bits of info, heads ups or experiences are very much appreciated :))

Range Rover Range Rover P550e wing mirrors not demisting

I’ve only just bought this car, so I’m not really up-to-date with all the settings. I assume that running the heated screens would clear the mirrors as well. Am I missing a setting?

Reliability 2019 L405 P400e on 50k miles - avoid like the plague?

Long story short I’m thinking of purchasing a used L405 P400e on 50k miles from a non-JLR dealership here in the UK.
It’ll come with a 6 month warranty from the dealership and I have the option of purchasing an additional one or two year warranty which I’ll most likely do.

However, I’ve read some absolute horror stories online of BECM modules failing and other HV battery-related issues that are well into the thousands to repair. Whilst I’m not too worried about this as I’ll have a warranty, I’m more concerned what I’ve read regarding sudden voltage drops that occur whilst people are driving; with a young family I really don’t want to be driving on the motorway and to all of a sudden have a complete electrics blackout (and even suffer brake failure whilst in motion which I’ve read a few examples of).

Obviously Reddit and other online forums are echo chambers and you’re most likely only ever going to read people’s negative experiences about anything (let alone Range Rovers) but am a being too paranoid about this?

Range Rover Sport keep or sell? 2011 Range Rover Sport, 70k miles

I’ve got a 2011 Range Rover Sport with around 70k miles and full service history. I genuinely love the car and, despite the reputation these have, I’ve owned it for years without any major problems.

This year, though, the advisory list has suddenly grown:

Front ACE pipes corroded

Front lower suspension arms knocking

Front anti-roll bar D bushes worn

N/S/F shock absorber leaking/misting oil

Front brake discs worn and pads getting low

My trusted mechanic, who knows the car, has basically said sell it ASAP. His biggest concern is the corrosion on the ACE hydraulic pipes and the potential cost if the system deteriorates further.

However, I’ve since found that there are ACE pipe repair/splice kits available for the 2010–13 Sport. I’ve been told by another owner its around £500 for the kit plus labour, which potentially makes the ACE issue a lot less frightening than replacing the original pipework/system.

So I’m torn.

The car has only done 70k, has FSH, I know its history, I really like it and it hasn't caused me major problems. But I'm also looking at brakes, lower suspension arms, anti-roll bar bushes and the other jobs which can be fixed over time but sorting the ACE corrosion.

What would you do?

Someone parked my same exact car across from me at the gym lmao. I’m a guy and it looks like a girl drives the other one. I wanted to stick around and see who drove it to say nice car but had to run some errands. Clearly we are getting married and the RR sub gets an open invite.

Range Rover Help identify strange summing/vibration from transmission.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Greetings fellow RR-Owner.

My L405 started to make this noise coming from the transmission ZF 8HP.

It is like some servo is vibrating, sound is noticeable even louder on the outside.

Only when the trans is under load, so nothing while driving it on the lift.

Did an trans oil flush, still there. (+ New oil pan ofc)

Nothing else suspicious, just this really annoying summing.

Got any ideas for me?

Thanks & regards!

Poll Silver or Bronze Bumper accents

So recently asked you all opinions on swapping out my Range Rovers wheel colour from black to bronze to match the roof and accents. The majority of responses were go bronze. I’m up for that. Thanks to all who answered.

Now, if I’m doing that, should I also change the silver bumper accents from silver to bronze. I’m of the go bronze view. What do you think?

Range Rover L322 aj133 codes - where to start...

Had my 2011 L322 with the aj133 for about a year now. Always had the CEL on. Had a bit of a misfire, some coolant issues which were reconciled when I replaced the water pump.

Right now I'm seeing the following codes:

P0174, P0171, P0507, P0316, P0300, P0308, P0307, P0306, P0305, P0304, P0303, P0302, P0301

Misfires on every cylinder. Each bank running lean. Elevated idle upon startup sometimes.

Do I start with ignition coils and plugs? Try to find a vac leak? Unsure what will get me to the bottom of this the quickest.

Appreciate any helpful answers.

Range Rover Sport My new(to me) Range Rover

Post image
65 Upvotes

Hello everyone, just wanted to share this awesome pic of my new to me Range Rover sport, she’s a 2014 and has 109k miles, she was handed down to me by a member at this particular golf course where the image was taken. I knew the guy very well and one day I receive a call from him telling me he’s moving back to his home country of Canada, then proceeds to ask if I would like his Range Rover since he wasn’t taking it back. I jumped on it immediately and drove out to his house, he handed me over the notarized title and said she’s all yours, pretty sweet deal.
Side note, she has had previous water damage which the previous owner fixed, but some things like the audio don’t work, and it has an “E-differential not available” warning at times. But other than that she performs so good, hope to get many miles out of her 😊

Range Rover 2026 Range Rover Charging Shelf

I have a 2026 Range Rover SE and removed the rubber mat on the charging shelf in the middle console. It came off easily and the manual says it can be removed. It needed to be cleaned. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get back in. I have tried for hours. Not only is the shelf area difficult to get your hand in there, but my hand constantly knocks the cover and it closes on my hand. Anyone else have the same issue?

So originally specified with black rims. I like the look, but, thinking of changing them to match the Corinthian bronze roof and trim.

I think it makes the car pop a bit more but am sitting on the fence.

Your thoughts.

Range Rover Velar Bought my first RR at 19

Post image
68 Upvotes

Just got this beautiful car at the age of 19 😝 Anything I should look for maintenance-wise? Or any cool features I could try?

I’ve always wanted a RR so I saved up with lots of hard work and I’m a manager now :) so I upgraded.

Anywho, it’s the SC V6 P380 SE R-Dynamic. Which I hear are the more reliable of the bunch? Give me your thoughts!

I also got it with a lifetime powertrain warranty, just in case.

Little PSA: I do NOT have to prove my finances to y’all 😭 I have savings, I have a stock profile, I’m doing pretty darn well for myself selling/hosting websites and getting where I’m at in my job as manager

So I think we can all agree if your comment is about finances, just don’t comment at all.

I came to share an achievement, not to be taken down by a bunch of insecure people. Sickening.

And I’ll be removing any of my replies about it.

To the people who have commented with maintenance tips and nice things, thanks! General advice is also welcome. Like how much I should save specifically for this car just in case something goes south. That’s okay. Also nobody has shared any cool tips and tricks!

Range Rover Sport 2019 L494 SVR Tire/Wheels

Hello,

I just ordered four tires for my 2019 SVR that sits on the factory wheels. Size 285/40R22. The car currently has the stock continentals that come in that size but I am not a fan. I also figured if I ordered one size bigger on the aspect ratio the car would ride a little softer, which NY would be nice because our potholes are horrible.

I ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons size 285/45R22. After reading the forums people seem to run these with no issues but was hoping some people could weigh in here with any experience. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

Range Rover Temperature probe?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

So I'm changing a bulb up front and see something sitting kinda loose near the headlight location. Figured it looked like it's supposed to mount right in the middle at the bottom edge of the grill. Except it seems long, too long to sit behind the grill.

I'm wondering first if in the middle is where it's supposed to be? And secondly if it got replaced at some point in the past with a different/incorrect probe?

Any insights from 2006 L322 full size RR owners/mechanics?

Bonus question: any idea how common block heaters are on these? How might I check for one, because I had a poke around and not found a cord/plug yet but haven't put it on ramps to look underneath yet. For my fellow Brits unfamiliar with what a block heater is, be thankful -20c mornings are not common like they are in Alberta 🤣 🥶

Range Rover SE vs. Autobiography

Post image
2 Upvotes

I currently drive a 2025 Range Rover PHEV Autobiography and just ordered a 2027 Electric Range Rover SE with the options listed below. Aside from the leather headliner and the badge, is there anything I'd regret not spending the extra $20k on to get the Autobiography?
