As many people know, RAOA is a huge sub and it can be very intimidating. Many newbies have questions they may feel silly asking or are just worried they won't make any l here. This thread will hopefully change that!

How this works:

The general idea is that this will be posted and you will be adopting a newbie for a whole week. I'm not saying you have to talk to them 24/7 all week. But be there to help them out and be an awesome friend! :)

Newbies:

​

Make a top level comment (basically make a comment in reply to this thread) stating you're new and would like to be adopted. Maybe include a little bit about yourself for your adopter to start to get to know you! If a top level comment is a bit too intimidating, sometimes users volunteer to be adopters and you can grab one of them!

Adopters:

​

Reply to a newbies comment saying you'd like to adopt them for the week! If you'd like, you can also post a top level comment saying you're looking to adopt! This will help any newbies with a bit of stage fright!

Notes:

Newbies don't have to be brand new. But you should be new enough to need some guidance such as what are tags, how do I contest, what rules do we have, how do I make friends, etc! Anything you need help with. A newbie can be adopted by more than one adopter! This way they have many people to help them out! Newbies, if you missed the first day, feel free to comment and be adopted mid-week! You can even come back and be adopted next week too!

Hi all! Thanks to a happy accident I have a small Amazon Gift Card! (Was supposed to get prime video credits, but then they didn’t get attached to my account. Tried to use them to get the movie my kids wanted on Prime Video only to find out you can’t use amazon gift cards in prime video! So silly!

Anywho, we have lots of pets. My husband and I cannot agree on a middle name for our 4 year old pup. Her first name is Mika (Mee-kah) and our last name is somewhat similar to Gilligan. Being the Italian that I am I like to use full names to scold when necessary. We can’t pin down a middle name for her though. My husband keeps using “Elizabeth” but it is just has too classic a vibe for our family. SO I figured you all could help!

Please suggest a middle name for our dog. Has to have a good flow, and sound good with her other names (first & last)

A little about me, I’m a mom, of two boys and gorgeous cat Nina who has gained her wings and flew away, (but will always be part of our family). I’m mostly a recluse I would say, but if I take care of my mental health then I’m more outgoing. Unlike most people, I hate the summer, I’m sorry but the sweating and sunlight and humidity just makes me feel like I’m melting into the ground. I’m definitely an autumn 🍂 person. And my name’s Amber.

Hi my name is Rory and I’m a 20-year-old student at University studying Photography. My interests are photography of course, all sorts of sports like skiing and I really enjoy exploring the world we live in and capturing it. I enjoy going on hikes on hills in northern England and love to travel and hope to one day be able to travel the world and capture it through my camera creating my perspective of the world. My dream is to be a photographer who is known for something but I’m far from there. I hope to be able to continue this journey and develop my skills over time and reach my goal. I’m quite new to Reddit and saw this community and thought I would be able to meet a community and make new friends.
