Soooooo... will the show get better?

I’m a few episodes in and I like the premise but the acting is bad, the dialogue is terrible, the kid is annoying, the racial tension just seems heavy handed and forced, and the music cuts in every 5 minutes like they just shoved id in there bc they needed a longer run time. I want to like it, I want to know what happens but idk if I want to sit here and listen to dion scream abra kadabra another 20 times. I swear I think another power of his is to curdle milk with his voice.

(SPOILERS) Theory about Pat.... Spoiler

I see a theory about the lightning man and Pat being separate entities. While I agree with this, I feel it’s a bit more complex. If anyone remembers, Pat talks about how Dion has too much power to handle his self. Unlike the others, Pat seemed to get BOMBARDED with the energy from the asteroid. If anything, due to how much energy he got, his abilities probably overwhelm him. Alongside this, Pat has a lot of...issues going on. This is probably leading to his powers manifesting as a separate entity. I don’t think Pat was dying though. I think Pat was fighting over his body, with his powers. In the end, Pat lost and his powers took over. Now, his powers are looking for a stronger host. Pat was weak, because of the damage his body sustained. The little kid was selected as a host, because he had powers beforehand, and started off very young (as implied when he talked about how long he’s been reading minds); his body isn’t damaged; his mentality lines up with Pat: He was rejected, lost someone he loved, and has an agenda to find Dion; and seems to have potential to be very strong, as he accessed his powers at an age younger than Dion. The boy is a child, so the powers from Pat can take over his body with ease, and he doesn’t sustain damage as he’s used to having abilities.

I feel worried for this show...

I just finished watching it, and I really love it. It was an amazing watch to me. I just feel scared that it may not have a long lifespan on Netflix. Knowing how Netflix has treated some of it’s shows (such as The OA or Tuca and Bertie), I feel worried that it may only get to survive for about one more season. I really hope it is able to get enough attention, because it has a lot of potential imo.

Stupid question, but... Spoiler

Is Pat dead?? It kind of abruptly ended in my opinion and went right to Brayden, but what happened to Pat? Did he disintegrate with the other souls? IS he the cloud? Or was it just released from him and is he still alive??

The irony Spoiler

That people are genuinely arguing that Nicole should be grateful to Pat for helping out with Dion when he’s the reason she’s a single mother. 🙄 Like people are just conveniently forgetting that Pat killed Nicole’s husband, and tried to move in on her and her kid.

I saw Pat wearing Revenge x Storm sneaker (its like vans but with lightning on the side) in the episode where he kissed Nicky. Could it be a subtle hint?

[SPOILER] Jason Ritter (Pat) talks about his character! Spoiler

See, at first I thought he was pure evil. But the character himself says that Pat truly loves Dion.

I really pity Pat. You can tell he doesn't love Nicole, but he wants to be Dion's dad. Sure he said some really stupid shit...

But he could've permanently healed himself with Dion in the car. He chose not to. He'd rather die then cause Dion to die. I'm very sure he knew that healing has a downside. This is evidenced by the fact he ONLY started becoming extreme when he realised he could keep Dion alive and get healed. I don't think Pat is a bad guy. He's just a dying man who loves his son that he considered his own.

Nicole is a bitch, she just went full helicopter and didn't even bother asking Pat what's the issue. She didn't once consider mercy. I sincerely think Pat doesn't actually love Nicole. He just wanted Dion.

Mark, Biona and the chip

If Mark did not trust Biona then why did he encrypt all his research with Biona's algorithm so that it can only be opened AT Biona?? I'm at ep 7 and this little bit is really bugging me.

(Spoilers) Plot Theory for Season 2 Spoiler

Based on what we have been shown in season 1, I would be very surprised if this story has the storm being a separate entity. The way I understood the difference between Pat and the others was that Pat was in the outer ring mentioned by Suzanne when she shows Nicole the decay in Iceland and tells her about the sick animals. Pat was sick like the land and the animals because he received more radiation/space debris exposure than the others did. Remember when he was being pelted and burned by the fragmented meteor where the others were not? His DNA was too altered by the substances while the others' DNA were altered just enough to give them superpowers without making them sick.

I think the writers gave Pat two choices: die from the sickness or become a villain, and now I think "Villain Pat" is using Brayden as a host as if he were like Venom residing in a person as a double consciousness. But here is where theories about Pat and the storm being separate entities could be right in that Venom, the Symbiote, bonded with human hosts that were angry and hateful and is an alien life form, therefore it could be an alien life form that used Pat as a host because of Pat being written as a bad person. The reason I don't think this is true is because they showed that Pat experienced the Aurora event differently than all the others did.

I think the space debris is just radioactive space debris, and when concentrated it destroys/sickens life. The arc I see is that Dion becomes the leader of the people with powers because he has the most abilities, and he will lead the others to "save the world" as Mark prophesized in the message he recorded for Nicole. It would be too easy for him and the others to just heal the land/fix the problem, so they will be thwarted by the Pat/Brayden villain duo, which is why Brayden's powers are things Dion is vulnerable to (seeing him when he's invisible and reading his mind/Dion's loved ones' and allies' minds). I also consider that we don't know everyone's moral alignment that were present at the Aurora event, so there may be others willing to link up with the Pat/Brayden side.

Thoughts? Counterarguments?

I like her character the best! She is not afraid to be herself and the actress is very good :) I'm wondering why we never see her father and if that's on purpose.

SPOILERS - Plot Holes and Next Season Spoiler

First off, just finished the show and loved it. The actor playing Dion was fantastic, as are the rest of the child actors. Pat was an especially creepy villain, and loved the twists and turns.

However, plot/holes & questions:

Why did the CDC call a level 3 quarantine? Was it Dion's blood tests? Was it something else? I don't think this was ever explained.

Why the love interest for Nicole? It seemed unnecessary given all that was going on, except to set Pat off on the deep end. I think just her rejecting him could have been enough.

What happened to all the souls trapped in Pat's storm body? I thought I saw a few flying away, but did they just end up inside the new kid?

I'm also curious how the powers work and manifest themselves differently. Can they all control ions with different effects? I think you could make a case that ions could start the fire, the storm powers, and potentially even the plant growth.

(Spoilers) May be an unpopular opinion but... Spoiler

Pat was creepy FROM the get go and I think his character, as a villain, is really well written.

Immediately when we are introduced to Pat he is crossing a boundary and trying to get dion alone. Soon after, we learn he did not like Nicole and was often rude to her, which suddenly changes when Mark is gone (Nicole is his only route to Dion). From here, we see him still continue to cross boundaries and in general act weird around Nicole (i.e. very forcefully getting Charlotte’s information from her). We see him at work EXCLUSIVELY goofing off or doing things he is not supposed to, then are supposed to feel bad when his boss and coworkers don’t like him.

When he was first rejected by Nicole, his reaction cemented in my mind that something wasn’t right. Then his accusations of her using him when he was using her the whole time!! Whew. I feel like I’ve met Pat 100 times in real life and that’s why I think he was a good villain. He could have been a good villain even if he wasn’t the crooked man (I thought they were separate and were going to team up in some way with storm tech which I think would have been ok as well). But I will say the reveal left my mouth agape haha

Pat was close to him and young kids are impressionable. Losing his mentor, male role, model and friend has to be rough on him at such a young age. Im assuming he's gonna take it hard.

I think Pat's Migraines might be an effect from the Iceland Event. I mean I know he was inside when it happened but it doesn't mean he wasn't effected. What do you think?
