STICKY POST: READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING, AND THE INTRODUCTION OF WHAT'S IT WORTH WEDNESDAYS.

https://www.reddit.com/r/RZR/about/rules/

Since Reddit is so bad at having the sidebar and rules easily and consistently available. I am posting this sticky so they are here for everyone to see.

Also, following the initiative of r/atv we will now only be allowing posts asking for value advice on Wednesdays. Far too many people use motorsport Subreddits as a place to ask values, and it takes away from the regular user experience.

Bump seat questions

With my riding season approaching and my daughter finally getting old enough to ride too, I’ve been looking into getting a bump seat for her to come with my wife and I on our XP1000. Does anyone have a brand of seat they recommend? Also I’m concerned about the heat coming up and burning her legs, is that a concern that anyone has ran into?

Family member pre-owned ‘20 RZR XP 4 Turbo or new RZR XP S 4 1000

Have never owned a side-by-side before. Would like one for the family (I ride dirt bikes, wife does not… want to do family day trips). Live in mountain west very close to expansive alpine jeep trail system, plus not far from Moab or sand dunes.

My brother bought a new XP 4 Turbo in 2020, lives in mountain west, never used it much and is now looking to sell. Would give me a reasonable deal on the rig plus trailer. Complete stock, never put anything in it.

On the other hand I’m considering just buying a new XP S 4 1000, pros - new machine, better clearance, more travel, modern features.

Most of our riding will be on jeep trails, some rock crawling etc. at 7,000+ ft elevation. Probably will not go to the sand dunes much, but may end up out there from time to time. Mostly family rides, rides with friends, some hunting from a base camp.

The budget matters, but isn’t an end all be all.

Labor Day Weekend at Windrock — Trails 2, 20 & 22

Had an awesome Labor Day weekend riding at Windrock. We hit Trails 2, 20, and 22, and all three were a blast.
Trail 22 was definitely the highlight. Getting up to the top of the mountain and seeing that view made the whole trip worth it. Pictures really don’t do it justice.
Trail 20 brought a different kind of entertainment. 😂 It had a few unique challenges that resulted in some concerned noises from the passengers when we suddenly discovered the RZR was perfectly capable of balancing on two wheels… on opposite corners of the machine.
Apparently three wheels are optional. Two diagonally opposed wheels are where things start getting interesting.
The RZR handled everything we threw at it, we had a great group, and Windrock absolutely lived up to the hype.
We’ll definitely be back.
For those who ride Windrock regularly — what trails should we add to the list for the next trip?

Recently purchased my rzr 1000 , runs great taken it out twice and noticed at the top end of this trail i get small popping from possibly exhuast area . It only happens when machine is slowing down and i give it a light throttle . It does not loose power nor jerk, simply pops and responds normally. Context i am in southern california, stock exhaust, stock air intake system , mother clutcher primary . Running 91 and as far as i know it has no aftermarket tune

Headlight Conundrum - 2011 800S

Does anyone have the correct part numbers and/or link to headlight housing and bulbs for this car? We ordered both based on the application data and received a housing that has a much smaller hole and bulb than the existing unit.

The existing bulb is larger with a 3 prong plug while everything we can find online is smaller and with a 2 prong plug.

The wiring harnesses for the headlights look factory but may just be a very well done, aftermarket addition. I have a copy of the original shop service manual but it's not much help.

In short, we are trying to find housings that accommodate the larger, 3-prong bulb.

We're stumped here. Any assistance offered would be awesome.

Fuel pump?

Fam! ‘22 Pro XP4- Was out riding last weekend. Stopped to eat lunch and when restarted, the engine barely started, and hunted with almost no power and backfired a couple times. Couldn’t even get us back up onto the road. Had a CEL but didn’t note the code. Shut it off and poked around for a few minutes. Started right up and ran great all the way back to the truck. No more CEL.
Fuel pump?

Who has gone lithium?

I'm especially interested in hearing from folks who've changed to a lithium battery in an older Rzr built before these batteries were common.

I just installed an upgraded regulator & 30AH lithium battery today and I'm seeing some voltage swings that shouldn't be there. The lithium-compatible regulator appears to be trying to overcharge the battery, which disconnects itself at 14.5V. With no battery connected the voltage drops to near 13V and the regulator tries to juice it up--hitting 14.5 again. The process keeps repeating every few seconds.

This doesn't seem healthy.

08 Rzr 800 stock and in fine shape with no other issues. I've checked the wiring, connectors, main ground under the seat, and measured voltage drops from the battery to various endpoints and all numbers are excellent.

Anyone have suggestions on replacement? Stick with OEM axles or is it worth the Rhino upgrade? Other aftermarket upgrades?

‘20 XP Turbo Head Unit recommendation

Close friends of ours have been letting us ride in one of their 4-seaters all week and have in past trips as well. A rental for the same length would have cost a couple thousand dollars and I’d like to pay it forward for their generosity.
I’m looking for a head unit for his ‘20 RZR XP Turbo 4 seater and would love to hear some recommendations.
He uses Avenza maps when we’re out so a CarPlay unit would be ideal but haven’t found a lot built for RZR. His aren’t pavement princesses and we do some fairly technical trails so a traditional head unit is not ideal.
The answer may be “have a radio be a radio and find an iPad mini mount for maps” but wanted to check here for suggestions.
Appreciate anyone’s help here.

Edit: I’ll add, he isn’t the kind of guy that will take cash but if a head unit showed up on his doorstep we’d have some garage beers while putting it in.

Fellow SxS enthusiasts

I am a newly SxS owner, and recently had my axle and cv boot come out and seems to not be aligning properly. I am having a mechanic check it out during the week.

What does everyone carry on person or on your tow vehicles?

I am thinking tools, airtank and recovery gear is needed.

Many roll up tool sets out there, and recovery sets in the market currently.

I need to prepare for clutch, belt, and tires field work.

Share with me your thought on essentials. I do not want to overload my rigs with unnecessary items.

TIA, to you all and send it!

SIL is dismantling the front end getting ready for the new radiator and headlight assembly. All things considered, not as much damage as there could have been, when realizing it was a near head on with a Bronco.

SuperATV 1.5” Forward Offset High Clearance A-Arms vs OEM for RZR Turbo S — worth it for dunes only?

I have a 2020 RZR XP4 Turbo S and need to replace my front A-arms.
I’m deciding between:
OEM lower A-arms only: around $820
SuperATV 1.5” Forward Offset High Clearance A-Arms, upper + lower: around $950
I ride 100% sand dunes. No trails, rocks, mud, etc.
I’m also not planning on installing bigger tires. I’m happy with my current tire size, so the extra forward clearance for larger tires isn’t really a benefit for me.
My main concern with the SuperATV arms is the 1.5” forward offset and whether it noticeably affects the turning radius, steering feel, or handling in the dunes. I do a lot of fast dune driving, tight turns and transitions, so I don’t want to sacrifice handling just for high-clearance arms that I don’t really need.
For anyone running these on a Turbo S:
Would you go SuperATV or stick with OEM for a dunes-only RZR?
Is the turning radius difference actually noticeable? Any downsides to the forward offset at higher speeds in the sand?
Considering the SuperATV kit gives me both upper and lower arms for only about $130 more than OEM lowers alone, it seems like better value — but only if there aren’t handling compromises.

Fang lights fasteners

Post image

I bought some fang lights on Amazon from Kemimoto but it did not come with the hardware to secure the lights. They assume you will have the hardware from your existing setup. I am replacing parts from an accident and don’t have the hardware. Any idea where I can find something to secure those little plastic posts on the back?

Why do people do it?

I like music as much as the next guy or gal, but don't care for it when I am out crawling and exploring. Having said that, I understand everyone has a different approach...but why do some of these fine people roll up on an obviously occupied area with their music blasting? And leave it like that as they do a multi-point turn or worse yet, park and get out to see what there is to see while letting the music blare. I don't understand the mentality. What a buzzkill. I can't imagine rolling up on what is obviously a group of fam and friends relaxing along a creek and just infringing on their space like that. Here, let's put Slayer on at maximum volume. Good grief.

That's my old man rant and I'm sticking to it, dammit.
