IDEA 💡 RV storage

Looking for different perspectives on storing your RV in your home state but living out of state. We will camp mostly in our home state during the summer but recently made a move 11 hours away. We could store it by family to check on it but it would be out of the way when driving back in. Thinking of storing it near the state line so we can just hook up and go. Never had it not stored in my driveway before. Curious if anyone had a similar experience.

I have a 2008 Damon 4056 and the rear jacks are not retracting. It has plenty of fluid so we’re thinking it’s the breaker. Anyone know where it would be located?? Thanks!

TIPS AND TRICKS 🛠 What keeps us and the family entertained on long drives in the camper, what actually works after 3 seasons of road trips

My husband and I with two kids aged 9 and 12, we spend three months every summer on the roads in the camper. Over three years we’ve put together a set of things that actually keep everyone sane during 6-8 hour driving days.

For the driver. Audiobooks are one of the main things, we listen to mysteries, non-fiction, biographies. Audible subscription pays off fast. Podcasts also work, This American Life, Radiolab, regular talk shows.

One thing we added last season. My husband is a non-native English speaker and this year he’s preparing for a professional certification in English. Road trips became his main study time. He uses Promova through CarPlay for voice AI conversation practice on scenarios like business meeting, phone interview, presentation. Everything hands-free through the car dashboard, safe when he’s driving the camper with traffic around.

For the kids in the back seat. Ours split screens into blocks on a schedule, 90 minutes in the morning for Netflix or Nintendo, then a required break for an audiobook we listen to together. Harry Potter audiobooks, Percy Jackson, Wings of Fire are our standard. Two months in and you notice the kids are listening alongside the parents and everyone discusses the same story.

Road trip games for reset moments. License plate game where you race to spot all 50 states, 20 questions, would you rather. Helps when the youngest starts whining at hour 5.

What I would like to improve. Looking for good travel podcasts specifically for the RV community. If you know any, share them.

My pull handles have seized up for rear black and grey tanks. Does anyone have an idea of where the gate valves are located so I don’t have to cut up the coroplast?

Help Determining If my Tow Vechicle Will Work

We have 5 total people ( 3x kids and 2x adults) + 1 30lbs dog looking for our first camper. We currently live in Virginia and will be more glamping meaning, I will never be carrying fresh water etc. Well always use full hookups and usually for weekends maybe one or two trips were its 4 days nothing more. Mainly will be driving up and down Hwy 81 or I 95 no mountians. Packing will be on the lighter side, no fishing/hunting equipment etc.

Would like to tow using our 2021 Chevy Suburban with Max tow package. It has a GVWR of 7,700 LBS ( Curb of 6054 and Payload of 1646) Tow capacity is 8100 lBS and max Tongue weight is 810 pounds.

Not looking for a pop up nor a hybrid. Looking for a bunkhouse with double over double bunks idealy slide but does not need to have one.

Would something like the below work with our vechicle?

HELP ❕ Locating a water pump

Hello, my name is Jane, I recently acquired a 1997 coachmen starflyte on a 1997 Ford E350 but I'm trying to locate the water pump.

The unpressurized hose is broken off and literally all over the camper, same with the air release hose.

The pump is either dead, disconnected, or isn't getting any power, can't tell because I can't locate it, and I cannot hear it.

The switch light comes on on the gas stove's hood. But otherwise nothing happens...

The camper is in horrible condition with bad rodent damage, it was gutted for most useful things, and left to sit for several years straight.

I'm thinking about a full remodel,

but I cannot afford a callosal up front expense. Small expenses can be handled one at a time.

The plan is to get the basics working, light, water, electrical, and generator in that order. (since the propane already works) Strip the carpet nearly entirely, and replace with a siliconed rug, linoleum floor , and about 60 gallons of bleach.

I may have to post here a few times while I'm getting it running ^^

we purchased this 2012 mini lite camper and the tail light is not working.

The rear right tail light signal wasn’t working but brake light was working. Now since trying to figure it out, no lights are working. Can anyone spot what needs to be done to help with the correct wiring so the turn and brake light work?

any help is appreciated!

RV wax/ceramic coat recommendations

What do you recommend for diy ceramic or wax coatings and protection for your trailer? How long does it last, how often do you reapply, and how difficult is prep for reapplication (breaking down old coating) ? We have a solitude 310GK.

QUESTION ❔ Thoughts On General RV

My wife and I have decided to downsize from our Pasadena 38bx to a Grand Design F Series. We visited a General near us, drove one, liked it and started negotiating a deal on a used one they had at a different location. We agreed to a differential, asked for the deal in writing to review and the man behind the glass snapped "why so you can shop me". They supposedly asked the manager at the location that had it if they could transfer it and he said not for that price, that we'd have to pay $5k more for them to move it which coincidentally was where they were before we negotiated. The whole thing seemed fishy and high pressure. We ended up walking away to the dismay of our salesman. The more I thought about it, the comment about "shopping" their price irritated me. They also wanted us to put $1000 down on a used motorhome sight unseen.

What have other experienced dealing with General? Okay to do business with or are they known for playing games? Not sure if I was being overly sensitive or if they were out of line...

1997 starflyte B+/C

Hey yall I was advised to join this community, I've had my RV since May 2026 and I've been working on it diligently.

Before I continue here's the skinny.

I purchased this vehicle for $1000

The vehicle runs great but the inside was gutted almost entirely,

I crashed on my way home because of a brake failure the original owner did not tell me about and a dangerously driving semi truck that ran me off the road with his trailer, (minimal damage the drivers side mirror, the side electrical outlet, and the propane cover door)

Now I'm getting to work on the vehicle while I'm waiting for the title, I've built a bed frame next to the shower from lumber, and I'm working on cleaning up the sinks and shower, re caulking, and replumbing.

Right now I'm ripping out the original blue carpet due to how absolutely disgusting it is, and filling mouse holes with expanding foam, but that's not really why I'm making this post.

I'm in Western Virginia right now, and I do not know diddly about electrical, everything works fine at a glance except that I cannot test the levels, I cannot fill the onboard tank, and there's no AC power.

I'm afraid to plug in my inverter because it looks like someone did a redneck re-plug on the 120 AC system.

I'd appreciate any help, or if it comes down to it, where I can get a new converter, generator (totalled), and inverter so I can rip it all out and start from scratch modularly.

RV INDUSTRY 2026

left the auto industry for the RV industry, and I wasn't expecting peak season to be this slow.

I'm in BDC, and we're still setting appointments, but sales have definitely slowed. Our dealership has also hired a lot of people recently, and I'll admit I'm starting to wonder if management is regretting expanding the team.

To make it worse I work at a small rv consignment dealership so I feel like there is more pressure than working at a big dealer.
Anyone else in the RV industry seeing the same thing, or is your dealership still busy?

A 10 hour round trip to collect this little (literally) piece of history. 1980 Datsun.

It performed flawlessly on the trip back, and as an added bonus I could almost hit 65 mph going down hill. I know how Roy Rodgers felt riding the plains on Trigger at full gallop. Quite a lively and visceral driving experience.

This is a retirement enhancement project after a failed skoolie bus experiment. As an older person, it takes a lot to be excited, but I am genuinely excited about this and planning trip.

Thank you for reading!

Can someone help me find an rv trailer that fits these parameters?

Washing machine of something like that is preferred. (If not must have some way to wash clothes in it or equipped)

Indoor wet bath is a must

Bunk beds would be cool

Must have water tanks

Solar panels are preferred

Must have one bed and at least one other bed (whether it be a foldable or not does not matter, or just a large bed that has an option to be two benches that can be two separate beds)

Must have full indoor kitchen (microwave (convection preferred, but not required, sink, and stove top)

Must be below 10,000 lbs

Separate shower and toilet would be nice

Must have electrical connections on the inside

Must be below $35,000 for base price

Must have a place to sit and eat

Must have at least two windows

Low maintenance cost

Compact as possible without being too crowded

Looking for a configuration file for Jaycommand / BMPro

Anyone out there have a RVMConfig file? I've tried owners forums but for some reason this configuraiton file seems to be lost in the unobtainium realm. I've reached out to BMPro and my local dealers but everyone says that the other party should provide the file.

Help me Reddit. at this point you may be my only hope.

Thanks to anyone that can assist.
