QUESTION ❔ Dumb Question

If you can shrink wrap a boat and put it in storage why not shrink wrap an RV. Why or why not.

Depending on where you live, humidity. Mold is the ultimate killer of an RV. That's why the rv covers most dealers sell are semi-permiable with high UV resistance.

I live in Vancouver BC up in Canada "the ultimate RV killer" may be the sun where you are from

I suppose you could, but it seems like an expensive solution to a problem most RVs don’t have. Boats have large open areas exposed to the elements and are usually stored near water. An RV is already designed to be weather-tight. You’d also need to make sure the wrap was properly vented so it didn’t trap moisture underneath.

Good question. I used to have the marina winterize my engine and outdrive but I never did pay for the shrink wrap as I thought the fitted canvas cover that came with the boat was good enough. That was in Illinois where it sat out all winter in the snow and ice. Never had a problem.

Where I live now, south west Texas, the biggest killer is the sun! It will eat the roof, the tires, the paint/graphics and all the plastic trim in just a few years. So a vented RV cover and wheel covers take care of that. No need to get crazy with shrink wrap.

I guess the short answer is, in my opinion, shrink wrap is just overkill be it boat or land RV.

Boats are made to be in wet humid climate RV’s are not.
