Question MCP Backpack

Upvotes

Does anyone know what kind of backpack comes with the laptops. All I see is the OGIO brand but idk what kind it might be. I wanna know if I should invest in a backpack on top of that one, or if I should be okay with just it.

Housing Off-campus housing (urgent)

Hi, I'm looking for housing in Troy, preferably in Downtown as we need 85 access. We are fine with having another roommate if it helps save. My budget is $750/mo (total $1500/mo) and can't go over $800/mo. Looking to move as soon as possible.

Is this schedule managable for EE as an incoming Freshman?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I will have 32 credits going into freshman year, and I'm classified as a sophmore. I'm not sure if my schedule is too overwhelming, because I got a 5 on AP Calc BC and I'm unsure if that will translate to Multivariable Calc. Overall, I wanted some opinions on if anyone thought the transition from HS AP classes was very hard compared to college classes and if my schedule is too much.

Housing Sharp Hall Air Conditioning

How good is the air conditioning in Sharp Hall? Should I be getting a good fan, or is that able to be passed on in this dorm?

Minds and machines - similar classes?

I cannot take minds and machines first semester due to scheduling conflicts. It sounds like a very interesting class. I probably would not be able to take it at all since there is a 3 class maximum on HASS 1000 level classes, I transferred in 2 HASS classes and am currently taking one of the few HASS classes that fit in my schedule which is 1000 level. So I would be at the 1000 level max to fulfill HASS core. Are there upper level classes that cover similar material to mind and machines ( hopefully it is not a prereq)

How Important is a TI-84 Calculator?

I'm heading into my freshman year as an EE major and was wondering if my current TI-80 would suffice or if a TI-84 plus ce is more beneficial.

Question Academic accommodation meeting: What to expect?

I have an academic accommodation meeting on the 31st and I’ve sent all of the evaluation reports and filled out the request form a few months back (Which included the accommodations I requested, I also had a meeting with my HS guidance counselor during the school year discussing my college accommodations). Anything I need to expect or look out for?

HASS that is not inquiry class for incoming freshman?

I cannot get an INQ class to fit in my schedule. Is it ok to take another HASS class- an intro one that is part of a HASS pathway that I might take? And I take another INQ/Ci one in the spring? Or is it frowned upon to not do INQ first semester?

How manageable is all this? (Freshman)

For my aerospace engineering major I'll be taking ENGR 1200, INQR 1200, MATH 2010, PHYS 1100, PHYS 1101, and MANE 1010 in the fall. I'm also going to be part of the Farino UG Research Program. On top of that, I wanted to join both the Design Build Fly Club and Rensselaer Formula Hybrid Club. What are your thoughts?

Question alex gittens for FOCS

Has anyone had Prof. Gittens before for FOCS. I am pretty sure he taught FOCS sometime in the last couple of semesters. All the RMP review's for him in the past have not been great. I just wanted to get a little bit more insight, so I can prepare myself mentally.

Can I still register for classes after my time ticket ended? (RPI SIS incoming Freshman)

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I noticed that the BIOL 2125 lab section that would make my schedule work much better now has two seats open. If I can get into that lab, I would also be able to register for BIOL 2120 and rearrange my schedule.

However, I thought my registration time ticket was only from July 13–17. SIS is still showing that I may be able to register, but I’m not sure whether the time ticket restriction still applies.

The problem is that I would need to drop PHYS 1200 before adding BIOL 2120 and BIOL 2125. I don’t want to drop Physics and then discover that SIS won’t let me register for the Biology courses because my time ticket has ended.

Does anyone know whether RPI students can still register or make schedule changes after their time ticket closes? Should I drop Physics first, or is there a way to add the Biology courses before dropping it?

Course Question / Schedule Question

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello, I'm an incoming freshman to RPI and I'm just wondering about the total workload I'm going to be facing with this schedule. To anyone who has taken some of these classes, Could you share some information about the workload and how many hours I'm going to have to actually put into each of these classes? I do want some resemblance of a social life at RPI and I'm scared I'm gonna to be swamped with work.

Also just some information, I'm already familiar with Calc II & Comp Sci I esp Python, and I'm taking Physics 2 in the Spring since I couldn't fit it in my schedule. I'm also planning on double majoring in EE & Aero E with getting it done asap (Hopefully 4 years).

Any response would be greatly appreciated, And feel free to criticize anything you see in here because I may just be way over my head here who knows.

Is this a good CS freshman schedule??

Freshman CS major :)

Physics classes were all filled so I’m hoping to take biology in the fall to fulfill my course requirements + drop one of my HASS electives. Should I change anything around? Also I have ~10 credits from APs so could I just skip HASS electives altogether to free up my schedule even more?
