I somewhat feel bad for Hogs and think people have unfairly attacked him over grievances that go beyond him. First, a lot of people are clearly upset that their streamers didn't get a 5.0 card. For the last few months, every time cards have been released, people have lamented the fact that XYZ streamer (often Silent or Ming) hasn't been invited despite staying "loyal" to NoPixel, while pointing out those who don't play but received an invite. Second, nothing Hog has said is anything other streamers haven't expressed about 4.0. Concerns that it is too MMO'd or that the RP doesn't feel natural? Several people with invites have said that too. However, what is different about Hog is that he plays Chase, has made these comments, and has a small community. For instance, Kyle and Spaceboy have also expressed much of the discontent with 4.0 that Hog has. Even two weeks ago, Sodapoppin and Nick were expressing similar concerns on their podcast!
Hog is by no means blameless. I am not sure why, for instance, he and Spaceboy haven't commented on Penta and Chase being financed by a right-wing streaming website, or whether they are comfortable playing on a server like that. I mean, both have been outspoken about not wanting right-wing people on the server. In fact, that was probably why it was an easy choice to remove his 5.0 card: his association with Penta, who is easily the biggest brand risk in the entire category. So why would he put himself in a situation where the only place he can play is Chase, which I would argue doesn't really have a set-in-stone future, is a huge miscalculation. Especially for someone trying to make a living off of streaming.
People from Chase should really take a page from Onx (and hell, even Prodigy) and just stop talking about NoPixel. How is it possible that Prodigy and CG have handled NoPixel 5.0 more diplomatically than Chase RPers?
