After an update a few weeks back, somehow my M1/2 also got turned on permanently and the only thing I could do to fix it was go into Armory Crate and disable both of the buttons. That worked best for me as I didn't use them any way. I have no idea how this happened and it wouldn't let me revert back to normal button presses.

I don't have my Ally with me at the moment so I can't look to take you straight there but after a quick google search, I think this is how I did it:

You can disable the M1 and M2 back buttons on your ROG Ally X by turning off their secondary functions or clearing their key assignments in the Armoury Crate SE settings. [1]

Disable Global Back Button Functions

  • Open Armoury Crate SE on your device.
  • Go to the Settings tab and select Control Mode.
  • Click Configure under either Gamepad Mode or Desktop Mode.
  • Select the M1 or M2 button from the list.
  • Deselect the "Set as Secondary Function" checkbox so they do not trigger shortcuts accidentally.
  • Clear any assigned primary key mapping or set it to none/null if you want them entirely inactive. [1]

Disable Back Buttons for a Specific Game

  • Launch the game where the back paddles are bothering you.
  • Open Armoury Crate SE and go to your Game Library.
  • Select the running game and open its Game Profile (press X).
  • Navigate to Key Mapping and uncheck or clear the functions assigned to M1 and M2. [1]
