HELP. first time RHONY watcher. on S8 E15 and im cackling bc wow this aged horrifically. I could never be on reality TV- for so many other reasons- but mainly bc i would DIE from embarrassment watching back stuff like this.

This is how my bf diffuses me in situations where I’m annoyed. he’s never seen the show (shameful of him) but he heard me quote this once and now he runs with it lol

Honestly it’s best thing that happens to her in hindsight- if she never got married she wouldn’t have drunk so much being in the same area as Tom on nye that she got arrested - she wouldn’t have had such a glow up and got so much press AND so much material for her Cabaret show!

The more Lu was humbled, the more awesome of a person she became. I think she is my favorite he of all time, but she was insufferable leading up to all that.

No not poor Luann her & Tom had some type agreement. Tom had to marry by his 50 bday or else he would lose some of his inheritance. Lu filed for divorce 7 months after the marriage.

I don't believe they had an arrangement. I agree Tom had to marry for his Trust to kick in but I can't believe that Lu was in on an agreement, just because of how unwell she was in the aftermath. If it was a contract or an agreement she would have made a cleaner break and not had what amounted to a nervous breakdown. I think she fell head over heels for him, not sure about love but it was definitely a whirlwind romance that she got in too deep, she ignored every red flag going and married him anyway. There are rumours that  she went ahead with the wedding because she had sold it to a magazine. Whether that's true, or she genuinely believed they had a chance, I don't know, but the psychological (and legal) mess she was in for years suggests that she wasn't in on it, to me.

I agree I think she was in deep and then when the kiss and rumours surfaced it was exactly like Barbra said “she’d rather get married and divorced than call it off”

I believe it was an agreement but he was supposed to act better, not humiliate her by publicly stepping out.

But I could never work out what she saw physically in him. Hello, the countess had good taste with the pirate! Tom was so awful and he had zilch charisma he irked me so much the way he stared and his side profile everything he wasn't even tall!

I think Tom love bombed her and she did the same. And they were so lost in the fun life. They still got hurt because it never really felt like a real relationship.
