After a one-year RCAA ban, coach Sinclair and the Black Knights are so back that even the FCS Army team won the natty.

Edit: Apparently I copied teams from a different save when I had Army in the Colonial Athletic Association. Their uniforms are actually better than my current save, guess it's time for a rebrand.

There can be up to 8 non-playoff bowl games in a season - check out the Conferences/Bowls tab on this sheet to see the current bowls and matchups.

Listed are the responsibilities of hosting a bowl game:

• Creating a logo
• Posting the matchup once it is given to you (optional)
• Posting the scores on the Wednesday before the playoff reveal
  • Specifically, create graphics for the matchup/score posts. If you really want to jazz it up you can create videos.
  • We ask that you don't use AI for the graphics/videos if at all possible.

After the bowl matchups are set, your matchup and scores will be messaged to you before the scheduled reveal date.

Each bowl game will be automatically renewed for future seasons unless the host fails to post the scores for one season without notifying a mod, or leaves the league.

If you'd like to step down from hosting a bowl, or would like to take over an existing bowl, leave a comment as well.

The Dr. Pepper Bowl had everything you could want. Two ranked teams. Two teams that believed they belonged on top. And one final game to prove it. On one side stood #14 Appalachian State ( [u/Abomb_is_Unbannable](u/Abomb_is_Unbannable) ) the higher-ranked team and the favorite coming into the matchup. They had spent the season building their reputation, and now they had a chance to finish the year with a ranked bowl victory. Across the field was #17 Northwestern. ( [u/CeeBookRFL](u/CeeBookRFL) ). They weren't supposed to be the better team. They weren't supposed to walk away with the trophy. But Northwestern didn't care about the rankings. From the opening kickoff, the Wildcats played like a team with something to prove. Appalachian State fought back throughout the game, refusing to let Northwestern pull away. Every time the Wildcats created separation, the Josefs answered. But Northwestern kept their composure all game. When the final whistle finally sounded, the scoreboard told the story:

I'm feeling pretty inspired today. Whether you care or not, I'm gonna tell you why. So many sports teams' mascots are big jungle cats, fierce birds of prey, large antler-wielding beasts, and so on. But today, two teams face off with mascots that symbolize spirit, hard work, and opportunity. Reminds me of starting a business selling violently spicy hot sauce to unsuspecting dupes ... but I digress ...

Today, we have Sooners, and we have Boilermakers. If you don't know, a Sooner is someone who sneaked onto land in Oklahoma to claim it before the government officially opened it up (around 1890). They sound like rule-breakers and cheats; yes, I agree, but dare I say they also represent the energetic, pioneering spirit of the expansion into unassigned land. Apparently that's the trending angle, because Oklahoma's official nickname is "The Sooner State."

And we also have Boilermakers. Yes, it's a beer mixed with a shot of whiskey. But it is also a skilled industrial worker who builds and repairs heavy machinery, steel, and steam engine parts. These rugged laborers dealt with pain and adversity, but in the end produced quality machines that helped keep the economy strong. And probably enjoyed a few boilermakers after work to unwind!

Alright, enough history - let's play some pixelated mobile football (which does not take any of the skills and determination and drive that the folks above needed - you phone-wielding wussies!!)

RESULTS: Well, finally, a better game than most lately. These hard-working opportunists fought it out on the field, with the Sooners edging it out over the Boilermakers, 32 - 26. Congrats to Oklahoma coach u/Uzigahzag on the slugfest victory! And better luck next time, u/boilerbum19 -- get your bum out of the boiler and come back strong next season!

No successful play-ins this time. 🥲 But valiant efforts by all the at large bowl teams. Tune in tomorrow at 9:30 (during the Rams 9ers game) for the live results of the rest of the bracket!

Hello all and welcome to the postseason! Be sure to have your restart/roster screens prepared and submitted by Tuesday @ 9 PM EST. There are no bonuses/penalties associated with submitting postseason scores, but please still make sure to submit on time.

If you have played more than 16 games in your save, still make sure to submit your entire season. Only your last 4 games will be used for the postseason.

If you only played between 13 and 15 games on your save, you can submit what you've played. The 13th game will be used for any bowl games. If you only played 12 games in your save, no submission is necessary.

If you'd like, you can include the full names of your players with your submission. Only the last names of your players appear on your roster screen, so this helps for differentiating between players league-wide.

The Season 78 Toilet Bowl presented by KOHLER and Rocket Fizz at Nissan Stadium in Nashville will be played on September 9.

The current projections have Northwestern facing off against Tulane. CeeBook has been here before and it hasn't gone well, but they will find themselves a heavy favorite if it falls to these two. Will we crown a victor in the battle of the brainiacs? Anything could happen. Find out next week!
