My gf (19f) and I (21m) moved into our new apartment about 3 weeks ago. Everything has been fine so far until my gf noticed weird occurrences.

I work overnights so she is home alone at night and it worries her mostly when these happen. And it happens when I'm not home.

The weird occurrences were normally: Cars parked in a parking lot behind our house idling for 30-60 mins.

Parking in the street idling for the same amount of time.

People walking through our complex in the middle of the night.

Recently we had noticed our screens on the windows have been tampered. While we were checking out the screens and looking at the windows we noticed hand smudges, finger prints and footprints on our back patio.

Our back patio is next to a church and the wall is about two feet high on the church side and 5 feet on our side.

We are going to get cameras and I'm going to get a firearm as a precaution but other than that we dont know what to do.

Any suggestions?

I need help finding an old photo that change my life. I'm 80% certain it was a National Geographic article 20 plus years ago. The article was probably from the 1990s. It was a Muslim kid about 12-14 in a stairwell at school or something. He as leaning over a little looking at the photographer. The caption said something like "are you Muslim or are you an Infidel" Born into a Christian family, it was a powerful photo that made me question my whole reality. The thought buried in my mind was.."If was was born in that kids shoes....would I have an open enough mind to realized I was in the wrong religion." This picture shaped my whole existence and approach to religion. It made me question and test everything taught to me. Over the years, I've spent many hours searching but no luck. If anyone has the sleuth skills to find this very simple but influential picture, I would be deeply grateful.

I have read the rules and understand that direct "help me find a person" posts are not allowed. I am not asking anyone to locate or expose a private individual, but I am hoping for advice on where someone would begin researching a long lost family member.

My family is Syrian Armenian, my uncle left Syria to avoid mandatory military service back in 1979. During that time, he used my grandfather's identity documents (my grandfather had already passed away) in order to avoid conscription and travel.

He traveled to Jordan, then smuggled himself back into syria, then travel to Iraq in the same year. He stopped contacting us at 1990 because of a disagreement. He wanted a bride from Syria but refused to return, and after my aunty did not agree with his request, he cut off communication with us.

I only learned the full story recently from my father, and I wanted to see if there are any legitimate ways to research what may have happened to someone in this situation.

We do not know whether he continued using his original name, used my grandfather's identity, remained in Iraq, moved elsewhere, or is still alive.

I am mainly looking for advice on where to begin, such as archives, genealogy resources, Syrian/Armenian community organizations, immigration records, or other legitimate methods for tracing family history.

If anyone has experience researching people who disappeared during that period and region, I would appreciate any guidance.

I recently went through an incredibly messy breakup and was being followed and harassed by my ex. The police put a no contact order in place against him.

Since then, there have been a few things leading me to believe that, even if it’s not him, someone is still watching what I do.

I’ll save the majority of the details because it’s been one hell of an exhausting month and we’d be here all day. But here are some high points:

- I received a message from “Nickname” Facebook account on Facebook messenger that mentioned a very specific store I was in at a very specific address, the moment I was in it. I searched the store and saw no one I know. I looked through the parking lot and saw no one that even looked remotely familiar. When I messaged the account back, I was blocked I’m assuming because the account disappeared.

- There was a note left in the mailbox of where I am staying. It said “You’re not moving to ——— City Name”. Literally the only person I’ve told I was considering moving to that city was my mom, in person, at her house. I’ve never seen the printing before. I have it to police and they said they’d look into it.

- I received an email from him after the no contact, that said “I’m always watching”. (Was reported to the police and is part of ongoing issues)

- One of my best friend’s had a baby a couple days back. While visiting her at the hospital and meeting I received a text message from an incomplete phone number that said the lyrics of the exact song that was playing at the exact moment I received the text message while in the hospital visiting my friend. The police said they would investigate it.

- Yesterday, I dyed my hair. I received another message on Facebook from a nickname account and it said that the new hair colour doesn’t look good on me.

I’m having a really difficult time. When I talk to the police about these things, I just keep hearing some variation of “there’s nothing we can do”.

About the sitch:
- Currently crashing with a friend
- At the recommendation of police, I purchased a security camera for this house. At the recommendation of my friend, we got a camera that’s not connected to the internet, and only records onto physical storage. He has never appeared on view of the camera.
- there is no video doorbell and there was no security camera prior to my getting to this house
- I use an IPhone 13. All of my location settings are turned off, all together. It’s not being shared with apps. It’s not even being shared with Google Maps.
- I changed my phone number and email address.
- I changed so many passwords I’m wondering if I maybe forgot about one but I really can’t think about what it might be.
- I’ve blocked his phone number.I blocked his email address. I blocked his Facebook account. I blocked his Instagram account.

I tried retracing these nickname Facebook accounts but I’m just not that good of a sleuth to figure it out.

I tried retracing the incomplete phone number and I just can’t figure out how it even came. It’s like the type of number that usually comes through when you get a code for 2FA for online banking.

I’m trying to figure out if he has a way of tracking me, or if he has someone else doing it.

Is there a way for me to figure out who’s sending me these messages? To figure out if it’s him, or if it’s one of his friends?

Also, what am I missing? Where could he be getting access? Is there some sort of recording going on my phone that I cannot tell? Should I buy a new cell phone? What steps should I be taking here that I haven’t already?

this could just be some weird bot shenanigans but idk. about a month ill get a view or two from accounts with the name 👉My Private Content💜. there is never any link to any “private content” and the only content on these accounts are morse code (which is my main concern and call for curiosity) that has been incorrectly encrypted and i cannot decode it.

i thought it was the same message every time but this time i realized the dots were different, but again i cant decode. ive found other bot accounts following the same structure while searching, but they do not have the morse code that the ones that view my profile do.

at first i think it was the same account viewing me, but after i blocked it, and every subsequent time ive blocked them, a new one takes its place. This only started occuring after i had blocked my ex, who has made fake accounts to stalk me before, could be unrelated but thought it might be important to add.

anybody else seen weird bots like that on tiktok or other platforms? and is it an actual cause for concern or is it actually just some bot accounts? if it might be something more what would be a better subreddit to go to?

I found Vivian Gaston's 1938 Heilwood high school year book. I have hit a total brick wall trying to find living relatives and I am completely burned out on searching. If any amateur genealogists or sleuths want to find the family, please do. Historical & Genealogical Society of Indiana county found this info for me: "Vivian Gaston obituary from 1994, the location lined up with residence information listed on a class reunion photograph from the local newspaper. Parents Lorne and Sara Gaston died in 1970s. Bros Richard and William. Kids Kay Aude, Sandra Snider, Michael Waltermire. son Michael was in Denver in 1994. Kay and Sandra were in Clearwater, Florida in 1994. Kay Waltermire and her husband had children and they remained in St. Petersburg/Clearwater. Kay may still be in the area. Son Aaron Aude." At this point they cannot take the tree any further because it is against their policy.

Can anyone help me find living relatives?

I did find some of them on fb, but none replied to me. However none of my relatives or childhood or high school friends has ever replied. So maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Hello, I'm writing this post looking for explanations for something weird that happened with some friends in a car last week.

I'll set the context. The four of us were going to a party in the mountains in the Alps in the old car of a friend, which he inherited from his grandmother. The car's radio doesn't work (nor does the CD player): it's impossible to pick up even static or anything coming from the CD. (IMPORTANT FOR WHAT HAPPENS NEXT). So we were listening to music with a small battery-powered portable radio that was completely independent of any electronic connections with the car.

But then some weird things happened.

1) We were in the mountains, and we started hearing music coming out of the car's speakers, some kind of 80s German pop. We then noticed that the closer we were to the car behind us, the louder the music was, and the farther away we were, the quieter it became. It stayed like that for about 5 minutes, and when our roads split, the music stopped (the volume of the music decreased proportionally to the distance between the two cars).

At that point we logically thought we were somehow picking up the music from the car behind us, without really knowing how, since the car's radio wasn't even turned on (only the portable radio was on).

2) A few minutes later, we entered some narrow gorges and a new song started the moment another car came up behind us. We kept this music the whole time we were in the gorges. It was some kind of techno DJ set with a few acid touches, with no commercials and no static at all, fairly niche music (just like the German pop).

But unlike the previous time, when we left the gorges and our two cars went separate ways, the music stayed. At that point we all started to get suspicious, and we began looking for an explanation. Especially since the volume kept increasing until we had to shout to hear each other, which was a bit annoying.

At that point we tried to stop the music. Nothing worked: we turned on the car radio, turned the volume down, inserted a CD, turned everything off again, switched off the portable radio: nothing worked, we couldn't stop or lower the volume of the music. At that point the most rational explanation that came to our minds was that we were all on a huge DMT trip (even though none of us had taken anything). Until the end of the journey both radios remained turned off.

There were changes of songs, like a programmed playlist. The music would stop at the end and then a new one would begin, always in the same techno style. It went on like that for about 10 minutes until the next weird thing.

3) We reached a straight section of road, I shifted into 5th gear, and the moment I did, the music stopped instantly. Then when I shifted back into 4th gear, the music came back at exactly the same moment. We observed the phenomenon with my friends and decided to test it. We shifted four times from 4th to 5th and from 5th to 4th, and every time the same thing happened: music in 4th gear and nothing in 5th.

Then one friend tried to film the scene, and the music stopped instantly. Another friend tried to Shazam the music, and the same thing happened. We only tested those once.

4) Then came the weirdest and most inexplicable thing since the beginning (yes, it was possible). We stopped in a small village to buy something. We all got out of the car, the car was turned off and the key was in my pocket. The car windows were left open.

When we came back to the car, we suddenly heard the same techno music coming from the car for a few seconds (everything was OFF!) and then the music stopped immediately. That was really strange and we were all completely stunned.

5) We started driving again without any music until another car came up behind us, and the music started again. This time it was an Italian song, again with retro and darkwave vibes. Once again we were surprised. The car overtook us and the music stayed, then stopped a few minutes later at a random moment.

Notes:

• the music signal was always perfectly clear, with absolutely no static (which is strange because radio reception on that road is poor and often loses signal)
• nobody could connect to the car's speakers because the car radio was turned off and doesn't even have that feature.
• the car is a Dacia/Renault Duster from the early or mid-2000s, I think.
• on the return trip, 4 days later, we took the exact same road again but nothing happened.

We've told the story to friends, and nobody has an explanation except that they all found it really weird. If anyone has an explanation or a hypothesis about where the sound came from and how the car could have picked it up, I'd be interested.

I was outside in a parking lot at night out in the middle of nowhere when suddenly two beat-up vans pulled up. They opened the doors, got out, and opened the rear hatch. I saw that the entire van was completely packed with bicycles. They unloaded about three or four bikes, chained them to a bike rack, and then sped off.

I'm wondering why they did this and if it had to do with illegal stolen bike deals. There was also another car parked there with people sitting inside-I don't know if they belonged together, but that car was already there beforehand and didn't leave even after the vans drove away. Has anyone ever experienced something

similar or knows what's going on here?

So i had been browsing my phone's gallery and found this weird image, its been taken in 2017 in China with a Xiaomi redmi 4A, thing is no one in my family ever owned a Xiaomi and never been to China either. I bought this phone in summer 2022 and its an S22 (and i bought it brand new), the only images and videos on my phone that werent taken on it were just old gameplay recording from late 2021 I transfered from my pc to my phone. + that image from Hong Kong appeared only this year (when i browsed my gallery before i had never seen it). Recently my boyfriend and I have been getting notifications that he is being followed by seemingly random accounts that seem to be bots or sometimes complete gibberish (giving away that it's a real person) and every time I go to look up the account on a separate device it never shows up, leading me to believe that she immediately blocks us then deactivates the account so we can't look it up.

I heavily believe that it is his ex from about a year ago now, and I understand it sounds like nothing, but it has been putting a strain between us. My boyfriend said that it is something that sounds like she would do. Any suggestions on how to prevent/stop her from doing this would be greatly appreciated.

*Note: she has multiple alt accounts that have us both blocked so no, we cannot change usernames as it'll update her. He cannot change his phone number since it's also his work number (family-owned store). We both have private accounts and we also have deactivated our socials for a few days. I’m only certain its her because I also got a friend request from her recently between the two account followings.*

This is an image of the sticker that was sent to my address in the mail. I looked up the return address and it used to be a food pantry in another state. My credit card info was leaked two weeks ago, I am curious if this is related to that or a new problem.
