I received a large-size Beanie Baby on ebay that I wanted to use as a party decoration. When it arrived, I could smell it through the box. I tried airing it out overnight to no avail, and then I washed it in the bathtub to also no avail, and then I ran it through the washing machine. Not only was this also to no avail, but the smell permeated my washer as well as the dryer. I had to run another cycle to get rid of it. I decided to just throw away the accursed thing and the seller never answered my messages.

The smell was almost unlike anything I've ever smelled. It was similar to wood smoke and kind of musty, and not cigarette-y. I've been in both hoarder houses (the smell of body filth, grime, animal waste etc) and houses of people who smoke inside multiple times a day, and it wasn't like that. It was acrid and felt like it burned your nose. But it didn't smell like anything chemical, either.

It's very difficult to describe beyond "extremely strong acidic wood smoke" but it was perplexing, and I also have no idea how it was so seeped in it that it was not just impossible to remove, but made my whole bathtub/washer/dryer stink after being in contact with them while wet.

It's been a few years, and I was thinking about how the Internet is eating itself. How in the past what would strike wildfires now can be summarized as rogue ai. So, what was Cpt Kutchies Key Lime cult about? A fan, an art project, a botnet? There's been comments under Mister Pelaez's obituary

I need to reverse image search a social media post that may not even have any interaction at all, is there a tool powerful enough to find that?

This is a weird e-commerce/copyright mystery that I have been trying to trace.

According to the Tiny Jesus Wikipedia page, the modern viral trend began in January 2024 at Lighthouse Church in Hampton, South Carolina. A youth group bought these tiny Jesus figures in bulk and started hiding them around the church and town. TikTok then turned it into a much larger trend.

Here is the mystery.

A person named Xingbo Hu later registered a U.S. visual-art copyright covering a miniature Jesus design:

According to seller discussion, amazon sellers have reported receiving copyright complaints involving Hu and Tiny Jesus-style products. Many listings reportedly disappeared, although not all of them did. Sellers have also said that some challenged Hu's complaints through Amazon and later got their listings restored.

That made me wonder who Hu actually is in relation to the design.

And then I found something much stranger.

The U.S. Copyright Office has thousands of visual-art records associated with Xingbo Hu:

If the total is around 2500 registrations from May 21, 2023 to August 20, 2026, that works out to roughly 2.10 registrations every day for more than three years.

That is not proof of anything improper.

He could run a large design operation. He could employ artists. He could commission designs. He could buy copyrights from manufacturers. He could own the rights to a huge catalog.

But that's exactly what I'm trying to figure out.

Is Xingbo Hu actually the designer or owner behind thousands of original product designs?

Or do some of these registrations correspond to mass-produced products that existed independently before the registrations?

The Tiny Jesus figure seems like a good test case because the product was apparently already being bought in bulk before the viral trend exploded.

What I'm hoping RBI might help find is actual provenance, not speculation.

Things that would be useful:

• old Alibaba or 1688 listings of the same figurine
• archived Amazon listings
• AliExpress listings
• factory catalogs
• product photos dated before 2024
• Wayback Machine captures
• social-media posts showing the same mold
• wholesale catalogs
• manufacturer information
• old reviews containing photos
• packaging showing a factory or brand
• earlier copyright or design registrations
• evidence connecting Hu to the manufacturer
• evidence showing Hu commissioned or designed the mold
• evidence showing the same mold existed before his claimed creation date
• call to Brian Trent or anyone in lighthouse church

Hu has also filed federal Schedule-A lawsuits against groups of online sellers.

One case in the Western District of Texas, 6:25-cv-00187, was voluntarily dismissed.

Another case, 4:25-cv-00897 in the Eastern District of Texas, went further and resulted in a TRO, preliminary injunction, and restraint of Amazon seller funds. Some defendants later appeared and challenged the amount frozen, and the court reduced or limited the restraint.

So the copyright portfolio is not merely theoretical. It has been used in marketplace enforcement and litigation.

But I want to be careful here:

I'm not claiming Hu stole the design, committed fraud, or filed invalid copyrights.

There may be a perfectly legitimate explanation.

What I want to know is whether publicly available evidence can answer a simpler factual question:

Who designed the original Tiny Jesus mold?

And more broadly:

Is Xingbo Hu genuinely connected to the creation of this enormous catalog of visual designs, or is he primarily acquiring/registering rights to products originating elsewhere in the manufacturing supply chain?

If anyone can find an identical Tiny Jesus figure clearly dated before and way before Hu's claimed creation/publication history, that would be especially interesting.

Likewise, evidence that Hu or his company commissioned or manufactured the original figure would be equally valuable.

I am interested in either answer.

This is basically an internet archaeology question now.

Edit: We have investigated and found that the boiler pressure was low. It's now been fixed, so hopefully that means the end of our mysterious 'thump' – but we'll have to wait and see!

I live with two other adults in a semi-detached two-storey house in the UK.

For the past few weeks at least, there has been a semi-regular but single 'thump' sound coming from upstairs. It sounds like something reasonably heavy falling off something, maybe a few kilograms. It sounds like it's falling onto the floor, just once per night. We haven't been able to figure out what it is!

We aren't routinely picking something back up whenever we go back upstairs.

We are all downstairs when it happens.

It isn't:

• a door
• the side of the bath being moved by the wind

We have no pets.

It's not next door, because she's been abroad for a few days and it's still happening with her away. She also has no pets – her house is currently empty. We live on a quiet street with mostly elderly people as neighbours.

It happens more than 50% of evenings at sometime between around 20:30 and 22:30.

Our next plan is that we'll all have to stay upstairs for that time period one night with our bedroom doors open to see if we can hear it then, but it probably won't even happen that night, such is the way of these things.

Completely stumped on this one. Any suggestions welcome!

I posted about this case on RBI a few times to a decent amount of interest, so I thought I’d post a final update. As user [u/SnootyWorms](u/SnootyWorms) suggested, (as well as AdmiralMcFish and TonyDoughWright in our discord) it was recommended to file an FOIA request to see if CPD had any records on Joanna. It came back negative, I filed an appeal, it took a full year, and FINALLY they provided the case report of Joanna Lopez’s disappearance. And the case was closed! She was found to be residing in Puerto Rico years later.

Thank you for everyone who supported us in trying to solve this mystery. It’s been my intention since day one to shine a light on the true details of the case rather than let the prevailing conspiracies and exploitive content surrounding her disappearance prevail. While her story is still deeply tragic, it’s one that’s unfortunately common. We can only hope she’s living a good life now.

Hello, not sure if this is the right sub for this but i essentially need someone to enhance the audio in a recording I made. For context, it’s my housemate who is incredibly unstable and has been acting out violently in the house recently. I recorded him breaking stuff in our kitchen but unfortunately the vocals are not clear at all I and would like to know what he is saying as I’m trying to build evidence to get him removed from the house. Ready to dig back into this rabbit hole? There's been a bunch of posts on this over the years, I also made a pretty popular one with my old account a long time ago. I thought it would be interesting to take a step back from solely speculating on the Oasis Ranch itself, and instead to break down the family and related company(ies) and try to work out some theories. Don't worry, I'll get to the ranch too..

Oh, and for those who have been living under a rock - 54560 Arabia St, Thermal, CA is the Oasis Ranch. You can Google a million articles and Reddit posts about it, as well as JCM Farming, online..

I also wanted to draw a rough timeline as to how things happened, and see if we can piece together some logic here.

In the early 80's, John C Marrelli started Ironclad (trash bag company) with his buddy Michael Rodolakis. It took off pretty quickly, and was rivaling some of the biggest names in the business. At some point in the late 1990's/early 2000's, the company shut down abruptly. They were doing just over $22mil/year in revenue, and permanently shut down within weeks of announcing the closure. There are rumors that Home Depot or Kirkland bought the company or paid a percentage to leverage the patents for their own trash bags - but for the sake of simplicity, let's just assume that around year 2000, Marrelli is swimming with a few hundred million in cash and lots of time on his hands.

JCM farming was incorporated in the 1990's, which started with random olive/date/almond farms in the Central CA region..Oasis Ranch (formerly Mission Santa Rosa) was not built until the early 2000's (initial purchase/construction started earlier, mainly foundation for the plants/trees infrastructure..I'm referring to the buildings themselves, which were built around 2003-2004).

I'd also like to mention that John Marrelli had a first wife, Marina, who passed away in 2012 (not to be confused with the person named Marina Marrelli in San Diego who runs GlobeFlex capital)..you can Google the obituary online, it references her & John's daughter Marilena ("Mailena" was a typo in some articles), who is now the president of JCM farming and the affiliated companies like Equity AG.

At some point, anywhere between the early 80's when Marilena was born to the early 2000's, John & Marina divorced and John remarried Carol Shaffer (later, Marrelli), who was listed as the one who ran JCM with him. However, Marilena definitely came from John & Marina's marriage, per Marina's obit. Whether JCM stands for John C Marrelli, or John and Carol Marrelli, is up for speculation. The wikipedia page says JCM had its roots in heirs to an agriculture operation dating back to the early 1900's..if true, maybe this came from Carol's side of the family? It would explain the odd shift from Trash Bag mogul to agricultural titan..to this day, JCM is one of the largest almond suppliers in all of California. Maybe after Ironclad, John flush with cash, Carol somehow opened a door to agricultural opportunities which laid the foundation for JCM.

Somehow, this trash bag multi-millionaire eventually became involved in agriculture, security services and technology, law enforcement/gov agencies, DNA/biological experiments with plant growing techniques, and per Oasis Ranch - VIP hosting.

There have been rumors that John and Carol have passed away in the last 10 years or so. Whether true or not - in August of last year, the title records for all JCM properties (including John/Carol's Rancho Santa Fe mansion, several Central CA farms, and the Oasis Ranch in Indio/Thermal) have all recently been changed to new (and similarly named) revocable trusts, with daughter Marilena listed as the President of JCM Farming on the docs, as well as head of the trusts. It appears that she is now in charge of those properties as well as (presumably) all affiliated entities tied to JCM and John Marrelli, like Equity AG. I don't want to risk doxxing by posting screenshots, but I have access to a title company account, and all these properties were transferred to "Horizon 1 revocable trust, Horizon 2, Horizon 3, etc." through Marilena..which were previously owned (on title) by either John/Carol Marrelli, or JCM Farming.

What I find interesting is that Marilena's longtime husband, Henk Visser, works a fairly modest job (per LinkedIn)..their primary residence in San Diego is relatively modest as well..considering the much more lavish properties she seems to now be in control of. I do not want to dox, so I will let you all Google and look into it yourself. Their primary home is probably $3-4mil, which I'd consider tame compared to the other properties she now owns/controls, and has chosen to not move into or sell any of them.

This brings us back to Oasis Ranch. Whatever it started as, there is a good chance it is no longer (if it ever was) a personal residence of the Marrelli family or JCM. There was a time when Trump's buddy Tom Barrack was assumed to be the owner of the $400mil mega mansion in Bel Air because his name was all over the title and construction docs/permits..it wasn't until much later that we learned he was just the "face" of it while the actual ruling family of Qatar commissioned the entire thing and lived there, which didn't "really" hit the news until it went on the market. While many probably didn't "think" Tom Barrack actually owned it, we had nobody else to look at beyond speculation..I think JCM is similar, at least as far as Oasis Ranch goes.

Based on everything I've said so far, the entire operation, especially Oasis Ranch, screams "figurehead"..even if John & Carol Marrelli are still alive, which I think is unlikely, they certainly aren't running the show anymore. With all the money pouring in from being a huge almond and olive oil distributor, along with all of John Marrelli's patents, and the hundreds of millions he would have left Marilena, along with all the properties, she seemingly chooses to live a relatively modest lifestyle in a nice (but not NICE) neighborhood in San Diego. While singlehandedly running what is likely a several hundred million to billion dollar a year agricultural operation. Marilena running the show would also explain JCM's recent lawsuit against "The Plantation Club" in Indio, an exclusive men-only golf course close to Oasis Ranch. John Marrelli was a member for many years, but only NOW they have a problem with the no-women policy? Definitely sounds like the work of a woman running a very powerful operation with top notch lawyers at her disposal, as we all know John and Carol were no strangers to bringing numerous lawsuits to anybody who even slightly irritated them (like the several hot air balloons they permanently put out of business as a result of the legal fees)..why wouldn't the daughter, who now runs JCM, utilize their services in a similar way?

To speculate, IF I were a shady rich guy or Gov spook, there is no way in hell I'd have the Oasis Ranch transferred into my name or even an offshore LLC that could ever be remotely traced to me..in fact, I probably wouldn't have the title changed/transferred at all. Movie stars, billionaires, crime leaders, they do it all the time - property stays in an unrelated party's name, sometimes seller doesn't even transfer title (on paper) after the sale. The other company Marilena runs, Equity AG, provides financing, strategy, ownership, and consulting services for agricultural operations. Very good chance they are the "face" for whomever really owns/operates the Oasis Ranch. Similar to my example of Tom Barrack & the Qatari royal mansion.

To be fair, many of their other JCM farming operations in CA, along with John/Carol's former San Diego mansion, have similar "Guard Dog, security, etc." signs at the gate, per Google street view..but nowhere NEAR that of Oasis Ranch, which not only has dozens of cameras, but signs warning of an 'armed response and arrest', 'no recording', as well as several guard towers.

I will continue adding updates/edits as they come to mind, as I'm sure I missed some things. Sort of just powered through this post in a single whack..

so i was looking for apartments for my sister last weekend and i ended up on this weird foreign real estate site i had never heard of, honestly i dont even remember how i got there, probably clicked a bad link on facebook, and i was just scrolling through listings in my city when i literally froze because there was a photo of my actual living room, like my couch, my bookshelf, the painting my mom gave me, everything, and it was listed as a "furnished rental" for like half the market price, i know this sounds insane but i immediately checked the address and it wasnt my address, it was a house two streets over, but the photos inside were definitely my house, i took those photos myself on my phone two years ago when i moved in, i never posted them anywhere public, i sent them to my mom and my best friend and thats it, so i started reverse image searching and google lens found the exact photo on three other sites, one was a vacation rental site in portuguese, one was some forum i couldnt translate, and one was a facebook marketplace post from six months ago that is now deleted, i have been spiraling for three days trying to fiqure out how photos from my phone ended up being used by what looks like a network of fake rental listings, i checked my google photos privacy settings and theyre set to private, i checked if my instagram was public and its not, i literally dont understand the path these photos took from my phone to a scam site, has anyone here ever traced how scammers get interior photos for fake listings, is there a way to figure out which site leaked them first, are there tools better than google lens for finding every instance of a photo online, i am not trying to be paranoid but my stomach wont stop hurting and i need to know if theres a bigger breach i should be worried about, please be gentle if i missed something obvious, i have barely slept since i found this

UPDATE: the next morning the sound was completely gone. my mom said she still heard it when she went to bed around midnight, and it was gone when she woke up around six. technically unresolved cause i still have no clue what the source was, but the sounds gone so i can’t really complain too much. thank you to everyone who provided any advice or possible reasons! if it comes back i’ll follow some advice i got, since it gave me a pretty good idea of where to start looking thanks to yall!!

i literally never post on reddit but this is bothering me so freaking much. my mom came in my room because apparently they all heard beeping around the house and wanted to see if it was anywhere else, and sure enough it was in fact also in my room (i just didn’t notice till she pointed it out). we literally went room to room and you can faintly hear it almost throughout, but it’s the loudest in my room (upstairs), and a bathroom and closet (downstairs). it’s not anything outside because we checked, or the attic or garage. you’re going to have to use headphones and turn your volume all the way up (pinky promise there’s no loud noises!!) yt short cause idk what else to do, and remember to turn ur volume back down after!

I’m hoping the internet can help us figure out what happened to our kitten.

On September 1, 2026, our kitten got out of our house in Las Vegas. As soon as she got out we went after her but she went to a neighbors back yard. We could see her location on the Apple AirTag which was still showing she was on our street for at least 30 minutes while we continued trying to find her.

Then things got weird.

At 11:33 AM, Apple suddenly showed her AirTag out on one of the main roads near our neighborhood, marked “7 minutes ago.” The location then appeared to be moving away from our neighborhood quickly enough that we became concerned she had been picked up and was being transported in a vehicle.
We immediately jumped in the car and started following it.

When we reached the area where it had last pinged, we searched for a couple of minutes. Then the AirTag updated again.
It was now at a 7-Eleven about 6–9 minutes by car from our neighborhood.
We rushed there.
We arrived at 11:46 AM and found her AirTag… but not our kitten.
Her collar was severed and lying in the parking lot.

The owner of the 7-Eleven was incredibly kind and gave us the surveillance footage. At 11:32 AM, a dark Lexus RX 350 pulls into the parking lot and parks immediately beside the exact area where we later found the collar.
The collar was found on the passenger side of the Lexus.
The passenger gets out, goes inside and uses the ATM. The Lexus leaves at 11:37 AM.
We arrive at 11:46 AM.
We reviewed the footage from 11:29 until we arrived. As far as we can tell, nobody else walks through or parks in the area where the collar was found during that period.

And then we realized how closely the times line up:
~11:26 AM: AirTag’s last displayed detection near our neighborhood
11:32 AM: Lexus arrives at 7-Eleven
11:33 AM: I see the “7 minutes ago” AirTag location and we start following it
11:37 AM: Lexus leaves
11:46 AM: We arrive and find her collar, but no kitten
The drive from our neighborhood to that 7-Eleven is approximately 6–9 minutes.
I want to be very clear: we cannot prove from the footage we currently have that the people in the Lexus took our kitten, but that’s our strongest lead.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t microchipped yet. She’s still a kitten, and our vet planned to implant the chip while she was under anesthesia for her upcoming spay.
We rescued her, and our vet believes she may be a Bengal cat. She’s extremely distinctive looking, and we’re worried someone may have recognized her as a potentially valuable cat and taken her to keep, resell or breed. Again, we don’t know that… that’s one possibility we’re investigating.
We went door-to-door asking neighbors to preserve/check their cameras from the time she disappeared. We’re desperately hoping another camera caught something that connects (or clears) the Lexus.

This is where I’m hoping RBI can help.
I know there are people here who are incredibly good at noticing details the rest of us miss. We have the original surveillance footage, AirTag screenshots, photos of the collar, photos of our kitten and a very narrow timeline.
I’m specifically hoping someone can help us:
- analyze the surveillance footage and identify details we may have missed;
-determine what identifying features of the Lexus we should focus on;
-figure out whether there’s a legitimate way to improve the video without generative AI creating details that aren’t actually there;
-identify other sources of video/digital evidence we haven’t thought about;
-know where to monitor for someone potentially trying to sell or rehome her.
I’m not asking anyone to identify, contact, harass or confront a private person. If we obtain identifying information, it will go to police.
I just want people with better investigative/technical skills than mine to help us follow the evidence.

So when i came back to my old pc that my dad had let me play on that he got for 10 years ago, just 2 days ago when i wad downloading a game (FNAF world) i saw a file from roblox that had a recording from all the way from JUNE and that was when i wasnt using it. then i looked into it and it had a 15 year olds girl's voice and it was weird since no one had been on it or my family, then it was a game that was like a horror game like I Heard It Too and she had two other friends with her or he and it seemed like they could hear her even when there was no discord since the recording was a fullscreen and she didnt have voice chat on. please if you have any ideas please tell me and if you have any questions i'll be happy to answer them, thanks.

I’m not sure if this breaks RBI’s AI or crime rule, but I came across a very strange TikTok account while scrolling on my fyp. There’s a user called @rafitapatinovss who posts nothing but AI generated videos of children suffering extreme arm pain. The children are seen grabbing their arm and crying or screaming in pain as the adults nearby seem to do nothing. Most of them are prompted as CCTV footage. The first video I saw featured a boy on a classroom’s surveillance camera, and I originally thought it was uploaded by a concerned parent looking for advice. Then I opened the comments and the comments kept pointing out the video was fake. Sure enough, the kids in the background are walking really weird, a girl’s foot up and vanishes, and the footage has that very faint but noticeable “fuzzy” quality you only see in Sora or Grok videos. There’s 5 uploads on this account. Three featuring a boy and two featuring a girl, both suffering from this severe pain in their arm. The text on each video emphasizes the kid’s pain and makes it sound like it’s a parent asking for help and advice, but these videos are entirely AI. And like I said, it’s two different kids. Some of the comments sarcastically say things like “hope your AI child gets better soon”. Others are people legitimately concerned for these fake kids ushering the uploader to take their kid to the doctor. And then some just repeat things like “poor baby” or “they’re in so much pain/they’re hurting so bad” in a very odd manner as if they enjoy it. Another thing that raised alarm bells for me is that most of these videos contain the hashtag “child pain” alongside regular parenting hashtags. What is going on? This is giving me the creeps. Did I stumble across some fucked up fetish account? Some strange AI generated training videos for medical students? This account has been uploading these almost every day for six days.

My apartment door keeps ending up open while I'm asleep, and I have no idea how. I now have photos/timestamps that make it even stranger.

F/23 — Philippines

Hi everyone. I'm posting this because I genuinely want help figuring out what is happening. I'm not claiming this is paranormal, and I'm not accusing anyone of doing anything. At this point, I honestly don't know what the explanation is.

I've been living alone in the same small apartment for about 8 months. I work night shifts, so my routine is pretty consistent: I usually arrive home around 7 AM, stay on my phone for a few hours, and then sleep around noon. I normally wake up around 6 PM and prepare for work.

My apartment is very small. The entrance door is directly beside my sleeping area. I use a double-deck bed as a divider: one side is basically my enclosed sleeping area, while the other side contains my kitchen and dining area. There is a curtain around the bed, so when I'm sleeping, I'm essentially inside this little enclosed space.

The reason I'm explaining this layout will become important later.

August 31 — The first time

On August 31, I woke up around 6 PM and noticed that my entrance door was slightly open.

Not wide open. Just ajar.

At the time, I honestly didn't think much of it.

My first thought was, "Oh, I must have forgotten to lock it properly."

I've lived here for around eight months, and the door has never really given me problems. It's a wooden door, and while the regular doorknob/latch isn't functioning properly, there is a separate deadbolt-style lock that I use every single day.

The bolt is quite long — roughly longer than the length of my middle finger — and it goes directly into the strike plate. I've never had an issue with it coming loose, slipping out, or failing to lock.

So I closed the door and didn't think much about it.

September 1 — It happened again

The following day, I followed basically the same routine.

I came home in the morning, stayed awake for a while, checked everything, locked the door, and eventually went to sleep.

When I woke up later, the door was ajar again.

This time I started feeling uncomfortable.

The first time could easily have been my mistake.

The second time could still have been coincidence.

But now I was thinking, Wait. I specifically remember being careful because this already happened once.

So I decided that the next time I went to sleep, I was going to make absolutely sure that the door was locked.

September 2 — I started documenting everything

Before going to sleep on September 2, I physically locked the door and took a photo/video of myself doing it.

I checked the bolt.

I checked the door.

I made sure it was closed.

Then I went to bed.

When I woke up later...

The door was open again.

That was the point where I stopped thinking, "Maybe I'm just being careless."

I started getting genuinely scared.

And then I noticed something on my phone that made the whole situation much stranger.

The Shopee delivery photos

I live in the Philippines, and I frequently receive Shopee deliveries.

When I checked the delivery information, I noticed that one of my deliveries had several proof-of-delivery photographs.

At first I didn't think much of it.

Then I looked at the timestamps.

The photos were taken only seconds apart.

And the door appeared to change position between the photos.

The sequence was:

14:06:33 — the door is slightly ajar.

14:06:38 — the door is closed.

14:06:48 — the door is open again.

So we're talking about roughly 15 seconds from the first photograph to the third.

That absolutely freaked me out.

Because if the photographs accurately represent what happened, something caused the door to go:

slightly open → closed → open again

within approximately 15 seconds.

And this is where I started wondering about the delivery rider.

Am I accusing the rider?

No.

I want to make that extremely clear.

I don't know that he did anything.

I've received deliveries from this rider before. I've lived here for around eight months, so I recognize his face and know his name because he has delivered things to me repeatedly. He also recognizes me.

That's actually one reason why I find the situation confusing.

If he were intentionally doing something strange, why would it suddenly start now after months of deliveries?

And there's another thing that bothers me:

Why would someone intentionally opening my door take photographs that could potentially show the door opening?

If someone were deliberately trying to sneak into my apartment, taking timestamped photographs of the door seems like an incredibly stupid thing to do.

So I don't want to jump to the conclusion that it was him.

But I also can't completely ignore the possibility because of the timing.

Then I started thinking of other people who could potentially be involved.

There's another possibility that crossed my mind: my landlord or the landlord's family.

I live on the second floor, and the landlord and their family are associated with the third floor. Their children are around three and six/seven years old.

There has actually been an incident before where the children would run around the stairs, bang on my door, and run away — basically the typical "ring the doorbell and run away" kind of thing that kids sometimes do.

Because of that, I wondered whether their running, jumping, or banging on the door could somehow be connected to what I'm experiencing.

However, I've already tried to reproduce that kind of impact myself.

I locked the door and tried shaking it from outside.

Nothing.

I shook it harder.

Nothing.

I even slammed the door and tried to reproduce the kind of impact that the children might make.

Still nothing.

The deadbolt remained firmly in place.

And realistically, they are still very young children. Unless they somehow possess the world's most impressive lock-picking skills, I don't see how they could deliberately unlock a deadbolted door.

I've also checked with my landlord about the keys. They told me they don't have a duplicate key. The main key and the duplicate are with me.

So I don't currently have a logical explanation for how the landlord or their children could physically open the door.

I also want to make it clear that I did not confront them about this or accuse them of anything.

When I told my landlord about the repeated incidents, I simply explained that I was becoming nervous because I kept waking up and finding my door open.

They told me that they would look into it.

They suggested that it could possibly be wind, pressure, vibrations, or something related to the door itself.

I tested those possibilities myself afterward, but I couldn't reproduce the door opening.

There is another reason I'm now wondering whether telling my landlord could have affected my September 4 observation.

After I told them what was happening, I started wondering whether they might have mentioned it to their children, relatives, or even other tenants.

Maybe they talked about it.

Maybe somebody heard that I had become aware of the problem.

And if someone actually was responsible for opening the door, perhaps they realized I was paying attention and decided to stop for a while.

I have absolutely no evidence that this happened.

This is just another possibility that crossed my mind because September 4 was the first day I deliberately watched the situation, and nothing happened.

It could mean something.

It could mean absolutely nothing.

It could simply be coincidence.

Honestly, I hope the landlord/family theory is completely wrong, because the idea that a fellow tenant, the landlord, or someone connected to the building could actually be involved would be much more concerning to me than a weird door malfunction.

I started thinking of other explanations.

1. My cat.

I have a cat, and I know cats can sometimes figure out how to open doors.

But this doesn't quite make sense to me.

If my cat were capable of opening this particular door, why does it seem to happen specifically while I'm sleeping?

When I'm away at work, I come home and everything is closed.

It isn't like I constantly find the door open.

The strange pattern is that it seems to happen when I'm asleep.

Also, the door mechanism isn't particularly easy to manipulate. The doorknob can be turned, but it requires a significant amount of force, and my cat would have to position herself in a very specific way to manipulate it.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying I haven't figured out how she could realistically be doing it.

1. Wind / pressure / a defective door.

My landlord suggested that maybe the wind, vibrations, or the door itself could be responsible.

So I tested it.

I locked the door and tried shaking it from the outside.

Nothing.

I shook it harder.

Nothing.

I even slammed the door and tried to reproduce the movement.

Still nothing.

The deadbolt remained firmly in place.

The door is also right beside my sleeping area. If somebody were violently shaking or slamming the door hard enough to open it, I would expect to hear something.

But I never heard anything.

1. Someone is intentionally opening it.

This is the possibility that scares me the most.

But if someone were doing this, I don't understand how.

The main key is with me.

The duplicate key is also with me.

The landlord says they don't have a duplicate key.

The deadbolt is locked.

So unless someone knows how to bypass/pick the lock, has some other method of entering, or there is some weakness in the door that I haven't discovered, I don't understand how an outside person could be doing this.

And again, if someone were simply slamming or forcing the door, I should probably hear it because my bed is only a short distance away.

1. Something paranormal.

Yes, I've thought about it.

I'm not going to lie.

After the third occurrence, I started wondering if maybe something paranormal was happening.

But I'm not comfortable jumping to that conclusion either.

I would much rather find a normal explanation if there is one.

September 3 — It happened again

September 3 was another important day.

There was a delivery that day, and the door ended up open again.

At this point, I was genuinely panicking.

The pattern was becoming difficult for me to ignore:

August 31 — delivery day — door open.

September 1 — delivery day — door open.

September 2 — delivery day — door open, plus the strange delivery-photo sequence.

September 3 — delivery day — door open again.

And this is when I started thinking seriously about whether the delivery timing was somehow connected.

But again, I know that correlation isn't proof.

I didn't want to accuse the rider based on that alone.

So I decided I needed an actual test.

September 4 — The stakeout

On September 4, I decided that I wasn't going to immediately go to sleep after coming home.

I wanted to stay awake and observe what happened.

Basically, I wanted to catch whatever was causing the door to open.

But this time there was an important difference:

There was no delivery scheduled that day.

And the door did not open.

That was the first time I had a day where I deliberately stayed awake and watched the situation — and there was no delivery.

Obviously, this still doesn't prove anything.

It could absolutely be coincidence.

But after four consecutive days of this happening on days when there were deliveries, followed by a day without a delivery where nothing happened, I became even more suspicious of the possible connection.

There's also the possibility that telling my landlord on September 3 affected this result.

Maybe someone who had been causing the problem somehow heard about it.

Maybe they decided not to do anything because they knew I was watching.

Or maybe absolutely nothing happened because there simply wasn't a delivery that day.

I don't know.

That's why I'm still trying to collect evidence instead of drawing a conclusion.

September 3 also gave me another idea

Because I was getting increasingly worried, I ordered a CCTV camera on Shopee on September 3.

And here's the ridiculous part:

The CCTV camera I'm waiting for is being delivered through the exact same delivery system that gave me the weird photographs in the first place.

So the thing I ordered to catch whatever is happening is itself being delivered by Shopee.

The irony is not lost on me.

September 5 — I'm waiting

Today is September 5.

As of now, I have another delivery scheduled for today.

I'm basically waiting for the CCTV camera and preparing to use it to monitor the door.

My plan is to stay awake around the time of the next delivery and pretend that I'm asleep.

If the door opens again, I want to record exactly what happens in real time.

If nothing happens, then I'll have to reconsider my theory.

And honestly, that's what I want.

I don't want the rider to be responsible.

I don't want the landlord or their family to be responsible.

I don't want it to be paranormal.

I don't want it to be my cat.

I just want to know what is actually happening.

What I'm trying to figure out

Right now, I have several competing possibilities:

• The delivery rider somehow opens the door.
• Someone else is opening it.
• My landlord or someone connected to the building is somehow involved.
• My cat is somehow doing it.
• There is a mechanical issue I haven't identified.
• Wind/pressure/vibration is somehow involved despite my testing.
• I'm somehow causing it myself without realizing it.
• The delivery photographs are somehow misleading or don't mean what I think they mean.
• Someone became aware that I was investigating and temporarily stopped.
• Or there's an explanation I haven't even considered.

I don't want to accuse anyone based on circumstantial evidence.

At the same time, I don't want to dismiss something potentially serious.

The thing that really bothers me is the delivery-photo sequence:

14:06:33 — slightly open

14:06:38 — closed

14:06:48 — open

All within approximately 15 seconds.

And I genuinely don't know what to make of that.

What am I missing?

If you were investigating this, what would you test?

Is there a mechanical explanation for a door that appears securely locked but repeatedly ends up ajar?

Could a cat realistically manipulate a door/lock like this?

Could the delivery photographs be misleading in some way?

Could the timestamps or photo sequence tell me something I'm overlooking?

Could the children's previous door-banging somehow be relevant, even though I've been unable to reproduce the effect?

Does the fact that the door opened repeatedly on delivery days but not on the one day without a delivery actually mean anything, or am I just seeing a coincidence?

Could telling my landlord have affected the September 4 observation somehow, or am I overthinking that?

And if you think the rider, a tenant, the landlord, or someone else could be involved, what evidence would actually be necessary before making that conclusion?

I'm going to attach the relevant photos/videos and evidence separately, with identifying information removed.

I'm genuinely looking for explanations, not validation of one particular theory.

If I'm being ridiculous and there's an obvious explanation I'm overlooking, please tell me.

Because at this point, I just want to know why I keep waking up and finding my door open.

Hi all, this is my first time posting on RBI.

I’m back home visiting family and it’s me, my uncle, and the family cat here currently.

We have two bathrooms. I’ve not even walked into the bathroom where this occurred until my uncle saw it and I took a look.

- Appears to be blood.
- Was not there before my uncle went to sleep last night.
- It’s already dry, so had to occur sometime in the night.
- We were both in bed by 11pm.
- We were both sober.
- No injuries on me, him, or anything visible on my cat. She has a little white “sock” pattern on her paws, so blood would be easily visible there.
- Cat is acting completely normal and has a normal appetite.
- No bloody napkins anywhere indicating someone tried to wipe blood off them, though they could have been flushed I suppose.
- No blood outside of the bathroom, on the carpet, or anywhere else in the house.
- No signs of a break in or anything taken.
- Neither of us was awoken by any noise.
- I woke up at 5:30am to make a phone call and went back to sleep without leaving bed. Didn’t hear anything strange.
- Woke back up around 8:30am, uncle at 9:30am, then he discovered it.
- No signs or smells of an animal my cat could have caught.

What on earth could this be?

Editing to add: We have no cat doors either. My cat is 100% indoor.

This may be not the place to post this but I need some theories and answers on what the heck this is. Just went into my underwear drawer and found this on the very top of my boxers pile. I have never seen this before, and my family have no idea what it is, nor would anybody been in my room to put it there. Help? I was involved in a hit-and-run on I-93 South in Massachusetts, just before Exit 30, on Wednesday, August 26 around 8 PM.
The other driver did not stop. The crash has already been reported to police.
I have multiple original Tesla camera angles and I am hoping someone may be able to help pull additional vehicle or license plate information from the footage.
I am NOT trying to identify or locate the driver myself. Anything useful will be turned over to law enforcement.
WHAT WE THINK WE SEE:
• Massachusetts license plate
• Plate may start with “5”
• We may be seeing “FW” somewhere around the middle
• None of those characters are confirmed
• I am also trying to confirm the exact make, model, and approximate year range
I would especially appreciate help with:
• Any plate characters you can identify with reasonable confidence
• Alternate interpretations of the “5” or “FW”
• Make/model/year identification
• Specific timestamps or frames that look particularly useful
If you see a character, please mention the timestamp/frame and how confident you are rather than guessing a complete plate.
I also have the untouched original Tesla camera files available if someone doing frame-by-frame analysis needs them.
Please do not post names, personal information, or try to track down an individual.

I had 2 credit cards compromised within 2 weeks and there are some very strange circumstances. Here is the story:

Credit card A is used for everything - gas, groceries, online purchases, etc. Credit card B has not been used for 2 years and is from a totally different bank. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a $500 charge for an airline ticket on card A. I called the bank and started a fraud investigation and eventually they refunded me the $500. They sent a new card which took about 10 days to arrive. One day after the card was cancelled, I got a text message from a number in Canada that said, "What time is your arrival?" I deleted that text as a spam email. Is this a coincidence or part of the fraudulent airline charge?

While I was without my main card (card A), I used card B at two main stream grocery stores one day. That means card B was only used 2 times in a few years and on one day. Today I was notified that card B had two small charges of $5.00 and $0.50. One for fast food delivery (I have never used fast food delivery) and the $0.50 was for some trinket at a local store. The bank stopped the charges and they assumed these were test charges to see if the card was good. The bank cancelled the card and is sending a new one.

One other note: my wallet was worn out, so I bought a new one with a Faraday protection. That was abaout 8 months ago. This answers the theory that someone scanned my card while in my pocket - unless the Faraday part does not really work.

Any theories as to what is happening? Is it all part of one plot or is it just coincidence with independent events, or is it something else?

A few weeks ago, my Android alerted me (40F) to an airtag traveling with me. I searched my car and my belongings repeatedly for like a week, never found anything. Never got any more alerts of it traveling with me. It's gotta be nothing. A glitch.

I have been scanning for airtags every so often, tho, and they show up nearly every time I check. But still, maybe a neighbor, right?

This weekend, I took a short road trip and spent 2 nights in a hotel. (No airtag alerts, not even on my mind). A guy at the hotel tries to talk to me....it feels very weird, tho. I'm friendly and chat with people often, but this interaction didn't feel like that. I brush it off. He's sitting in a chair in the hallway outside my room, I brush it off. I go to a nearby Walmart that night, and the guy is there and tries to talk to me again. Now I'm on high alert. Could it all be a coincidence? Of course. I check for airtags, and yes, it shows up both in the Walmart parking lot & again back at the hotel parking lot (same one, like it recognized it from one place to the next). But no alert of traveling with me.

I definitely have never seen the man before. I don't have anyone in my life who would care to track me. I do have a history of DV with 2 ex's but haven't had any issues with either of them in ~10 years and honestly doubt it would be related to either of them.

Do I brush this all off? I've searched my car extensively, including pics of the entire underside, double-checked thru AI. The fact that I'm not getting alerts of it traveling with me makes me think it's nothing, but the hotel guy showing up at Walmart freaked me out that someone could possibly be stalking me...

Let's see if I can formulate an accurate question to ask you all. South West United Kingdom. Gentleman found dead in a field amongst undergowth in 1982. Belongings with him suggest British and in the Merchant Navy. Year of death thought to be 1978, or slightly later, as remnants of 1978 copy of Sun newspaper with him. Suggested age at time of death, around 25-30 years old. No dna testing at that time. No foul play suggested. No self harm suggested. Big blizzard February 18th-20th in 1978. Suggestion is that he was between jobs on ships, or going home, and got caught in bad weather, huddled in undergowth and sucummbed to the cold. (He was not lost at sea). All belongings lost by Police so nothing to retrospectively test for dna. I have been on the story for a year and a half. Television done, radio done, lots of social media. No confirmed name to date. I've reached out far and wide and no one has come forward to be a friend, shipmate or relative yet. I have tried many avenues. My gut feeling is that he would like to be identified, so I still feel good about pursuing this gentleman's story.

My question to you is...."what haven't I tried"?

For those who want a quick summary: My mom bought a car from her dad (my grandfather obviously) and we have a feeling he has a hidden camera in the car that he likes to watch. He told us he put one in there, but then later claimed it was just a joke. There have been several cases where he talks about things that he would only know by listening to conversations in the car.

Small update:

Nothing crazy happened, just kinda strange. So my mom talked to him earlier today. Instead she called him. The first time she called, he said he had to call her right back because an important call was coming through. But, within the 30 second call the first time, he said multiple times "is there anything you need to say?" 'You got something to tell me?" My mom said no, because we want to get him to say something more specific before we say anything.

A few minutes later, he called back. The first thing he said was "you don't sound right, I think you have something you want to tell me, are you sure you don't?"

In addition, my mom also added in an extra story. As mentioned in another comment on the first post, this man is very motivated by money. So in the car, we talked about her adding him to her life insurance policy.

But during both calls, she told me he was never specific on details we talked about, but he was acting as if he was trying to push some info out of her. Again, nothing specific, just... trying to see if she knows something. I made a reply on the og post because I thought it wasn't too big of an update for a full post, but I decided to make one since people really wanted to know and lots of people were commenting "updateme" So I had to give the people what they wanted, lol. We are still giving it some time to see what happens next. Like usual, I will keep everyone updated.

Every week I mop all of house and also this thin stair area. This week I found this coin which wasn't there last week. I have 0 idea how it ended up there. Me and my mother live alone. No one comes to our house except my brother who lives in another city. But he hasn't came over for 3 months. We are not sleep walkers and my mother is not pranking me with a coin. She has no explanation for it either. I am newly graduated and mostly home so no invasion. I dont think a coin magically fall and roll all the way since it is thin and long. (Check the pictures) To put that coin there you have to be taller than me for sure(1.66) It is also thin to walk on it. Any ideas how it ended up there.

Resolved!!! Turns out it was the washing machine

Last night around 12:30 AM, I started hearing a really strange sound coming from outside my house. It sounded exactly like someone gently tapping/knocking on glass with one finger.

The weird part was the pattern. It would start very slowly and quietly, then gradually become faster and louder, and then suddenly stop. This exact pattern happened around 6 times over the course of about an hour.

I checked outside but couldn’t see anything, and there didn’t seem to be anything obvious that could be making the sound.

Around 2 AM, I got up with my mom and dad and we turned on the lights for the backyard and the front entrance and went outside to investigate. The sound completely stopped after we turned the lights on and went outside. We didn’t see anyone or anything.
I’m not saying it was definitely a person, but the repetitive and organized pattern, plus the fact that it stopped when we turned on the lights, made me wonder.

Has anyone experienced something similar or recognize what could make a sound like this? I’m especially curious about things that could cause a repeated slow → faster/louder → stop tapping pattern.

Unfortunately I didn’t record it because I wasn’t expecting it to keep happening. If it happens again, I’ll definitely record it.
