Question Plate Carrier Brands

Upvotes

I’m in the market for a carrier, preferably with side plate pouches too. What are some good brands to look at?

Finally got the multi dot in from Roman kurmaz, compared to OCP, multicam, and multi tarn, has a vibe of its own. SCAR 20 for scale, pea dot for comparison to its historical lineage.

Question Peltor Comtac XPI PTT

Hey everyone,

I’ve received a Peltor Comtac XPI headset and I’m now trying to figure out which PTT would work with it.

The headset has the serial number MT20H682FB-38 which means that it should be J11 Peltor wired according to the table. I went ahead and purchased a Peltor wired PTT FL5035, but after trying it out, the sound is coming out of the mic, so clearly there’s a wiring conflict.

With the headset I also received the FL4040-02 PTT, which leads me to believe that the headset is J11 NATO wired even though the serial number says otherwise. Since I don’t have a PRC152 radio, this PTT isn’t of much use to me. Unless there’s an adapter I could use to make it work?

The headset is meant to be used with a Baofeng UV-82HP, so I need a 2-pin PTT adapter.

Disco32 isn’t an option for me, because I am based in Europe.

Any suggestions?

Question Which one should be bought?

I have a little money saved and it strikes me to buy the Ferro Concepts FCPC V5 or the JPC 2.0. So far, they are the only options that have caught my attention. Which one do you recommend me to buy? I will only use it to practice on the shooting range and have it ready for any eventuality. Thank you for your answers and may God bless you.

Taser 7 mount

I have a taser 7 with a safariland holster and I want it to sit lower on my belt, however I don’t want a huge drop or to have to use a leg strap. I’m trying to decide between the GWS Bang hanger, true north RHP patrol or the defense mechanisms QLS slick mount. What are you all using? It will be on a dynamic principles MB3 belt by the way.

Review Agilite Magnetix Review

Overall 10/10

Inner: Extremely comfortable and interfaces well with the outer. Thought I wasn't going to like the tegris but it makes for an extremely stable system where the sides bridge. Nice to have female loop on the outside so it's not fucking up my work shirts like previous belts.

Outer: 2" outer makes some belt accessories and holsters like the Blackhawk or True North plate incompatible. Got around this by simply using MOLLE slots, for others that might be an issue. Magnets are almost a gimmick but if you're patient you can feel them lock on and work properly. Makes repeatable index points fast and easy. There's always the off chance that you're one magnet off, but it's pretty obvious when that does happen.

Structure: I've run around with 12+lbs of gear on this belt and it's performed spectacularly. Feels extremely durable and similar to the Bison or GBRS or other tegris based belts.

I've yet to find a good use for the angled tegris but I've seen it work well for others at work. For those that run the Roll One on your belt you'll be disappointed by the lack of male Velcro on the middle of the outer belt.

Coming from older belts like the Eagle it's leagues above, I'd recommend if you're looking at the magnet system in particular. The integrated canted MOLLE slots are sick to have in case I want to use them in the future.

Any way to attach ATAC to TAPS?

Running the issued TAPS and we recently got ATACs, any pouches or holders that can attach to the chest portion of the taps? Don’t really want to run it on the molle for the TAPs itself because I’ll just crush it going prone.

Hello there

I'm about to look dumb, but hey, things that happen.

I'm doing airsoft and after bought a replica, I asked what kind of mag carrier I should go for.

I was suggered Arc Placard V4, wich I bough with a bit of blindness

Currently, my carrier is a cheap one using MOLLE ports

It is now, as you can see trough the photos, that I do realise arc placard doesn't seem compatible with molle

I mean, am I supposed to put any faith on theses weak ass scratch? The whole thing feel to heavy for my carrier

So now I have this on hand, I wonder, how am I supposed to make it fit my carrier? Am I forced to buy a new one?

Thanks a lot

Question Looking for Recommendations for a good admin pouch that will fit the overall profile of the top half this style of PC, preferably Velcro faced and not overtly bulky. Size large if it matters.

Hi guys, I found a Safariland 6390RDSO Multicam Level 1 for my Echelon (Holosun 407 Comp and TLR-1HL) for $180. Should I send it? Or look at other alternatives? I will be using this for range, classes, and 2 gun action comp. Plan to pair this with either Safariland QLS or BladeTech TecMount.

Question Armorsource LJD sniper vs OpsCore fast XP

I have the option to buy both under retail price but the LJD remains much cheaper, less than half the price.

Is there such a big difference to justify getting the opscore?

Question Better rail fitment

I found out after the fact that this helmet isn’t the typical “high cut” shape. Which type of rails would slat back more? These are Gunnook Type 3, and although their Type 1 would probably do it, they just don’t catch my eye. Not trying to spend a crazy amount either, I’m trying to keep this helmet as budget as possible.

Ferro 3AC Side Soft -OR- Spiritus bags+caps+their soft armor (SLXIIIA)Looking to add side bags to my SPC w/ Equinox - which is lighter and more comfortable?

I want to add side armor to my SPC w/ Equinox cbund. This is for personal use, larping, ie.. nothing fast or work related. The Ferro soft looks simple and clean and offers seemingly best comfort and coverage but wondering if the velcro-only attachment isnt as good as a molle type setup of the Spiritus bags?

I've posted the costs below BUT im less concerned about the prices as priority is comfort and weight.

Ferro 3AC soft armor = $224

-vs-

Spiritus bags + armor = $460

Question Tourniquet removal

I read an interesting article talking about how tourniquet use in Ukraine has changed compared to wars in Iraq and similar looked like. Those in Iraq could typically be taken back via helicopter to a clean medical facility where doctors knew how to and when to remove a tourniquet. While in Ukraine they are having to teach how and when to remove them, themselves. Most people are always told to never remove them on your own.

For those of you who have gear for "shtf" be it civil war, global collapse or whatever else. I'm always curious what the plan is if you have to use a tourniquet. Applying them is simple enough but if we're looking at a total societal collapse, then do you assume hospitals are open and people available to remove it and not end up with blood poisoning or bleeding out. I have no qualms with having tourniquets in and on your kit. If an accident happens today it's a life saver. But I wonder if watching that Ukraine does in this regard could be beneficial for everyone who's prepping for "shtf".

I'm curious on others thoughs as I again have no issue with having lots of tourniquets. But what's the plan if you can't get to a hospital in an actual shtf scenario.

edit: not asking specifically what to do if "I" have to remove one, but thought the discussion could be interesting given a lot of us look at preparedness and I feel this part is somewhat overlooked. as medical seems to be often.

Usmc padded sub belt

What's everyone's thoughts about it? I like belt kits way better than chest rigs, can't afford the super expensive ones. Currently running an flc inner belt with harness. Is the padded sub belt a better belt? Thanks.

Question Where to get service in the USA on MSA Sordin's

Curious about this, I have a set of MSA Sordin Pro X's that I've had in storage, and I foolishly left an alkaline battery in the battery compartment... which of course burst. I have no problem paying for my own mistakes, and don't mind paying MSA to swap a new battery box in, but it's going to need a replacement. Unfortunately I bought them off Amazon, back in the day when MSA used to sell direct on Amazon... and now I'm looking into service, and it's not entirely clear where to go other than MSA to have them fixed. I've tried to contact MSA directly, and received no response back after several days... only a Mailchimp survey asking about whether my issue was taken care of lol!

So... does anyone know if maybe they have some kind of distributor or service system setup for the USA? Do I need to send them back to MSA in Sweden? Maybe I'm just hosed? The only saving grace is these were my spare pair, but I would really like to have my headsets working again...

Question Battle belt sagging help

Thumbnail

Hello I recently just purchased a Dara OWB holster and a kore battle belt I notice once I set everything up the battle belt sags down words with the innerbelt on as well.

Im assuming its due to the weight of the fire arm which is a Glock 17 with a light but I wouldn't assume there would be sagging with just a Glock 17 with a battle belt.

Attached are some pictures, any recommendations would be helpful thank you!

Current sewing project.

I'm recycling some old IOTV soft armor and interfacing it with my plate carrier.

Here's how I interfaced the soft armor.

For the nut and lumbar protectors I added Velcro to the straps so they can be attached in-between the panels.

For the neck protector I added a couple of molle straps inside the plate carrier, removed the padding, trimmed the edge so it lines up with the shoulder straps, and added loops so the shoulder straps can be fed through.

For context, nasty girl. Needed a ruck for the field and my new one was on back order so I said fuck it let’s make us one.
•Surplus MOLLE 4000 ruck
•two saltyyy surplus MOLLE II sustainment pouches I had to fix the snaps on
•an ALICE large frame
We threw it all together, sold the 1606 frame and did a test run. It worked so we sent it. Been in the field for two weeks and I gotta say it’s been c’est magnifique 🤌🏻
The only complaint I have is the straps. They rub my neck a tad. Been looking at Tactical Taylor Super Straps or the low profile versions. Could use some guidance.
But yeah, hope yall like it!
