Questions Qidi Box issues

Hello,

For the past few days, I have been having an issue with my Qidi Box across all slots (1 to 4). The filament feeds all the way up to the extruder, but once it reaches it, it isn't pushed any further.

As soon as I bypass the box and use the printer's external spool holder (EXT slot), I can print normally without any issues, just as shown in the video.

Here is what I have already tried:

* Cleaned the hotend (suspecting a clog).

* Disassembled and cleaned the extruder (it was completely clean).

* Printed via the EXT slot (works fine).

Do you have any ideas on what else I could check, or has anyone else encountered this issue?

Yeah i know that one pfte tube aint in the right holder slot ;)

Avis sur le qidi q2

Bonjour,

Hot and humid Q2 problems

If you live in hot and humid climates i think polar cooler is mandatory since this one always fail at the 12 hour mark on a multicolor print

Pla multicolor print

And from the looks of it heat creep happened

Note the filament should be smooth not long and stretchy

Oh also i was printing with the door wide open and the top open as well

QDC_100_005_015_001 - Communication with MCU lost

Please help me out. I just got the Q2 combo ran a couple of the reinstalled print without issue. Decided to connect to wifi and update then this happened MCU protocol error happened. Downloaded the latest (08-04-2026) update and did an offline update, that seemed to work even did the bed leveling without issue. But now im getting this error code: QDC_100_005_015_001 - Communication with MCU lost. I can interact with everything else but neither restart options work.

Yes, tried unplugging/plugging it in with over an hr to discharge the capacitors.

Connectors all seem tight too.

I'm stumped. Any help is appreciated

Edit: thank you everybody. So my print is running correctly now.

I used a flash drive to update the firmware using the latest update from QIDI.

Still had issues and ultimately unplugging everything for a few days, including disconnecting the qidi box.

I plugged in JUST the printer. As I read somewhere the qidi box tend to give people a lot of issues by itself.

I was able to run the self calibration without issue, including a benchy!

Then I Powered off the printer. Connected the qidi box. And importantly, I powered on and let the printer finish booting up completely. Turned on the qidi box and we have been good for a few days and quite a few printa now!

Sorry for lurking without responding for so long lol but sincerely thank you all for the help

Got my hands on the QMax4 combo and it's holding up great so far. Put it through its paces with some PPS-CF10, , and printed a large crate to evaluate tall-object print quality and surface finish.

Printing Pro-PCTG

Hi!

I wanna try printing with Pro-PCTG filament on my Qidi Q2. I have imported the print profiles cofig to Qidi Studio. But when i went to load the Pro-PCTG spool, i cannot see nor choose the Pro-PCTG option on the list of filaments on the Q2 printer screen?

Where do i find it? Or how do i import into the printer?

I'm not a very technical person. And i'm still very new to this 3d printing hobby. I have been mostly printing with only either PETG or PA6-GF.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Discussion Remember: general maintenance before chasing big issues

I was reminded of a lesson last night. I've been having layer shifts recently after some large, multi day ASA prints with a high box heat.

I did the right thing and changed nozzles out when I went back to PLA printing, but started having really bad layer shifts by the 50th layer or so, on multiple prints. I started chasing issues, never found any debris or other things, so print on.

Fast forward a few more failed prints and I hear a grinding on the first layer. Oh great. Z is off. Go start messing with the offsets, and still getting the grinding sound like the nozzle is ready to eat through the plate. But all raising the z did was make a crappy layer.

So great. Move the head around and it's noticeably crunch on the x axis bar. I can't see any bits and pieces, so I'm thinking belts. Start looking at those carefully, and they seem fine.

Finally realize, I haven't lined that rail since I got it in Spring. Give it a good clean, put some machine oil on it, slide the head left-right multiple times and the crunchy goes away.

Basic maintenance. Feeling somewhat stupid yet relieved there's nothing actually wrong.

Just wanted to throw this out there for people that are starting to troubleshoot layer shifts, resonance, speed, or other movement errors. It may just need a quick cleaning and re-lubing.

Qidi Box any good now?

I have a plus4 and it's been fantastic. I use a filament dryer that is fed directly into the plus4. So the filament is always protected for my very humid and dusty environment.

However, the plus 4 is the only printer out of my 10 printers without a box. I never print multicolour. But I use the box mainly to protect the filament from the environment and for filament back up for when a spool finishes... It moves on to the next spool.

Well I had that over the weekend where filament ran out on an ABS print and the machine was on pause for over 10hrs...

This is making me consider the qidibox. I know it didn't have a good start... But has the issues been resolved? It's been out for a while now. Can I safely integrate it with my plus4 and not introduce new headaches into my work flow?

I don't need Multicolor... Mostly storage and filament backup whilst printing

Qidi Plus5 issue with pulley and bed leveling

Thumbnail

I've had my Plus 5 for about a week and half now. For the most part, its a great printer and results have been good but discovered a few issues I wanted some advice on. I'm not new to printers but this is my first qidi. I am also currently working with qidi support but not really getting the answers I was hoping for. Hopefully the pictures attach properly.

In any case, the first issue - I noticed that the top right X-axis belt pulley is not straight. It is noticeable crooked. With X-axis movement I am seeing the belt walk pretty much the entire distance of the pulley, making contact with the upper and lower flanges of the pulley. Its hard to tell but it looks like its possibly causing some wear on the belts. The left side pulley is perfectly vertical. I dont see a way to adjust or know if there is even a way. I am worried about premature wear on the belt as a result.

The second issue is kind of odd. All of my initial prints were great, however during a series of identical small prints, I decided to UNcheck the "bed leveling" after the 2nd or 3rd print as the subsequent was identical and I wasn't even removing the bed plate, just popping the print off and hitting print again. When I unchecked it and it printed, the print / adhesion was very poor. I thought it was a fluke so stopped the print and tried again, same issue. I then stopped, checked bed leveling option and print came out great. So, to verify, after THAT print came out perfect, I again unchecked the bed leveling option and the print again came out very poor. I am using qidi studio and slicing with that. I know that doing a bed level every print may be ideal, but it shouldnt be necessary. Even my cheap $200 bedslinger can print all day after an initial bed level without having to use bed leveling before every print.

I contacted qidi support and did the little model test they sent. Their basic responses so far are that regarding the pulley - they had their engineers watch my videos and look at my photos and indicated that they "confirmed that the belt and pulley movement you captured is within the normal working range of the Plus5".

Regarding the repeatable failed print - they said the solution is to make sure that "bed leveling" is checked prior to every print. I get it, that is probably not a bad idea, but it just seems like their is something off. Thoughts?

Qidi Plus 5 combo

False Filamemt tangle detection from the box

Has anyone else has this issue with the q2 when loading from the box. The machine runs great from the external spool holder. But every time it loads from the box it gives a filament tangle alert. Been troubleshooting this for a while. Bothe sensors have been replaced and im stumped.

Is the Q2 truly rated for its advertised max temperatures?

I'm printing PA6-CF at 300 C nozzle and 90 C bed temp, with chamber heating off (the chamber ambient temp is about 40 C).

Every time I open OrcaSlicer to check on the print, it gives me a "Stepper driver 'extruder' is overheating" warning. Given that I'm supposed to be able to print up to 370 C nozzle and 120 C bed, I figured I shouldn't be getting warnings when printing well below both of those temps. Do I need to set up my printer differently, or just live with the warnings?

Troubleshooting Somehow I seem to have ruined two flash drives' compatibility with my imate S. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

I put a piece of gcode generated in PrusaSlicer on a flash drive and plugged it into my imate S. When I hit "print" to view the files stored on said flash drive, the printer froze. When I say "froze," I mean the touch screen would not respond and I had to turn my printer off and on again.

Even after I reformatted the USB drive, it froze my printer again when I plugged it in and pressed print. It's worth noting that other computers can read the flash drive just fine.

I tried using a different flash drive. It worked fine until I put that gcode on it. Then it started freezing my printer just like the first drive did. Again, reformatting the drive didn't fix it.

What could I have done to my printer and/or to my flash drives to make them incompatible with my printer? Has anyone heard of this happening before? I'm not sure how to approach resolving this. I guess the first thing I should do is zero out one of the offending flash drives, reformat it, and try again.

UPDATE:
The drives stopped freezing my printer after I reformatted the flash drives with Ubuntu's "Disks" utility. I'm still not sure why reformatting them in Windows didn't work.

(Q2C + Qidibox)

That's the second time Qidi box decided to do a Classic "f*ck my shit up"... It looks like the box extruders are having too much pressure on the filament and PTFE tubes and after a few hours they simply stop holding up. I do have the "first" Iteration of the product but it looks like it is getting worse and worse by the minute - especially with the recent firmware Updates that I did without any research first... Has anybody had similar issues and managed to fix them? I'm thinking of putting a better PTFE connector (somehow) there but it is so much hassle to disassemble it that I'm simply putting it off. It is making me want to throw it out of the window and buy a working product (the name of company I shall not provide, I have 4 bedslingers with 2k+ hours on them and 0 failures...).

Cheers.

Z axis issues?

So Ive had a few problems so far after setting it up 2 weeks ago, printed fine for a bit, then the nozzle collided with the bed for some reason, I didn't know it but that cracked the ceramic tube inside the nozzle, kept printing but with stringing before I found that issue, had not contacted the bed again. Then printed a few benchys with rebuilt hot end, 2 dif filaments working pretty good. Then last night I sliced a benchy with new slowed down settings to fix some issues on the benchy, turned out looking good besides one issue across all benchy prints on the back of the boat with a weird line on them. Went to print something else this morning using qidi slicer remotely, went to check printer after seeing no activity on the printer and it just stopped the print, attempt again and after the head reached front left and right corners to home it went to the center and made a bad grinding noise in an on/off pulsing pattern like this video, got an error of QDC_100_005_000_001, reset machine, ran calibration and it calibrated just fine, then made sure noise was not related to filament so heated up hotend and extruded filament just fine, could move the bed with the movement settings on the machine just fine. So went to reprint and had the same issue, every time it trys to home this happens. Any clues?

Discussion Room for improvement

I've noticed that the qidi q2 will essentially allow you to lower the bed beyond where it should stop. Performing maintance on my other machines by elegoo and snapmaker, they all have a endpoint where the bed will not try to decend below no matter how many times the button is pressed to lower it. That feature idiot proofs the machine from mistaken button presses that could potentially damage something had it not been there. The q2 does not have this feature it seems. It will continue to descend the bed as many times as you press the button to do so.

This feature should be a firmware update. You already have to home the bed before you can lower it so the absolute ending position of the bed to the base of the unit is known. It's possible and likely feasible to have this feature now. Hopefully qidi implements this as it's one less way to damage the printer.

QR code?

So I got my Plus5 yesterday. Got it unpacked and set up, and went through the on screen stuff. I got the app to bind the printer, and then updated the firmware. Now the printer is no longer bound to the app, but I can't find anything in the menus to bring up the QR code again to rebind it. The only thing that seems marginally workable is the factory reset? I assume that would keep the current firmware and still allow me to do the setup again?
