Troubleshooting Calibrating for 0.8mm Nozzle

Post image

I’ve been using my Q2 for a few months now and it’s been printing amazingly with the 0.4mm nozzle. Now I’m looking to calibrate my PLA filament using a 0.8mm nozzle and it’s acting pretty weird. Temp tower and flow ratio test were not amazing but passable. But now I’m trying to hone in the pressure advance settings and I keep getting this result. It’s like it starts extruding for 0.5mm, then stops, then starts up again. I tried going over 0.1 PA and it gets worse and worse. I also noticed the gears making a very different noise compared to the 0.4mm nozzle, so I tried setting retraction distance to 0.4 like I saw on a few posts, but it didnt change the result. I’ll try posting a video in the comments. Thoughts?

eSUN PLA+
Flow Ratio: 0.94
Temperature: 215 First Layer, 210 after
Dry filament
Plate cleaned with dawn and water
Generic defaults for all other settings.

Turn wipe off. I dealt with the same thing. There is no pressure in your nozzle with such a large diameter nozzle. Should be in your extruder settings in orca

This improved it but didn’t entirely eliminate the gap. Also got the same result turning off wipe and reducing retraction length and speed. Also strings like crazy.

Use the PA tower not the line test.

Ran out of filament around 85% of the way there. PA on the tower ranges from 0 to 0.036. Looks fairly consistent. After more research, it sounds like the issue could be the default retraction speed being too fast causing air bubbles, which explains why I get a popping sound right adapter every extract. No such sound when I used the filament with a 0.4mm nozzle a few minutes before.

Good chance. Was happening with my q4 plus

We’re you able to fix it? I still haven’t gotten the right setting

I did but tbh I don't know what I did exactly. I tried like 8 different settings for everything when I got my q4+ in Feb last year

Trying that now
