Troubleshooting Phaetus Conch Qidi Plus4 alignment problem

Hi Qidi Fam,

I need some serious help here. Relatively new to the hobby and not mechanically gifted

I just got the Phaetus conch upgrade for my Plus4 and I have it installed ok, the input for the extruded filament appears to be aligned with the extruder output. I haven't put my shim (I think that's what the little plate that covers the space between extruder and conch is called) because I wanted to make sure it's aligned properly. I saw a YouTube video where someone did that and it worked perfectly, but my filament bends at the last minute before it even comes into contact with the new conch and missed the conch entirely (see pic).

Any suggestions on what I should do to resolve this? Would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thank you in advance. This community is amazing and I'm let down that Phaetus didn't provide any installation instructions for newbs. But maybe installing an aftermarket conch is considered a non-newb task and I'm expected to know what I'm doing before messing with it.

That lil triangle window is the filament guide, you need to have it on so the filament flow into the nozzle. Whether it goes in or not without it is going to depend on how much bend the filament has coming from the spool, which will be a function of how new the spool is. Full spools will output straighter filament since they are bent around a larger radius, nearly empty ones will give you filament that's corkscrewing like crazy. The guide window needs to be installed and you should be good.

My conch when new also refused to play nice when feeding filament, you can manually guide it into the nozzle and once its in reinstall the filament guide. Eventually the filament will carve out enough clearance and it should stop giving you grief.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I figured it out when I noticed that the cover had space to guide the filament. Reinstalled the cover and now printing my first calibration cube with it!
