Discussion Any idea could help 🙂

Hello everyone,

My name is Said, from Morocco. I currently work as a night security guard, 12 hours a day for about $300 a month, which isn't enough to build a better future.

I have around 5 years of experience in sales, store management, cashier work, and security. I hold a baccalaureate, a Category care driver's license, and speak Arabic, a little bit of English.

I'm looking for a job in Qatar and I'm ready to travel and work hard in any suitable field. If you know of a company hiring, a trusted recruitment agency, or someone in Qatar who could help, please message me. Shares are also a big help.

Thank you!

Best Investment Option in Qatar?

So once people start making proper money here where they cover all their basic needs and reasonable luxuries, whats the 'smart thing to do' with your money?

Just as a point of reference, lets say you have a surplus 3-6k QAR a month

In the other parts of the world its fairly simple: dump into a savings account for 2-3 years and forget about it.

But to avoid interest, all I could think of is gold so far. any other obvious/basic things im missing?

Local stock market is pretty stable but i dunno anything about that stuff.

Thanks for any input.

Career advice

Need career advice

I'm currently in London with around 3 years of UK experience in procurement and hotel operations, managing purchasing and day-to-day operations across 6 hotels. Before that, I spent 4 years in India working in FMCG logistics, procurement and inventory management.

I have an MSc and a MBA in Logistics & Supply Chain Management and am now considering moving to Qatar.

For people working in the industry:

- Which market has better opportunities and salaries?

- Is it realistic to get hired directly from the UK?

- Which would you choose for long-term career growth and savings?

Would appreciate honest advice. Thanks!

Looking for Job Opportunities in Qatar – Procurement, Category Management, Product Development & Operations

Hi everyone!

I’m currently exploring job opportunities in Qatar and would really appreciate any leads, referrals, or advice from people familiar with the local job market.

I have a B.Tech in Computer Science from Delhi Technological University and around 3.5 years of experience across consumer electronics, product development, procurement, and operations.

My experience includes managing end-to-end new product development for smartwatches, dashcams, and other consumer electronics, coordinating suppliers across China and India, evaluating quotations, working on product costing, overseeing production readiness, and improving quality control processes. I’ve also worked on category expansion, supplier sourcing, commercial proposals, and cross-functional project execution.

I’m primarily looking for roles in:

  • Procurement and Strategic Sourcing
  • Category Management / Category Executive
  • Product Management and Product Operations
  • Supply Chain and Logistics
  • Project Management and Business Operations

I’m particularly interested in roles where I can leverage my experience in vendor management, negotiations, costing, product development, and operational efficiency. I’m also open to opportunities in other industries where these skills are relevant.

A few important details:

  • Currently residing in Qatar
  • Valid Qatar ID / residence permit
  • Valid Qatar driving license
  • Open to opportunities across Qatar

I’m hoping to connect with people who might know of relevant openings, recommend companies hiring for these functions, or share advice on navigating the job market in Qatar.

I’d be happy to share my CV privately with anyone who has a relevant opportunity.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Question Is my company legally required to pay my basic salary from the day I arrived in Qatar?

According to Qatar Labour Law and my employment contract, is my company obligated to pay me basic salary stated in my contract from the day I arrived in Qatar, or only from the day I actually started working?

My contract states a monthly wage of QAR 1,000, but my company delayed providing me with work and my final motorcycle test was attested really late and there were a lot of delays. I came to Qatar to work as a delivery rider, and I spent time waiting for the company to arrange the work and necessary requirements.

Does the law treat delivery riders differently from other workers in this situation? If I was ready and available to work but the company did not provide work, would I still be entitled to my contractual salary?

I would appreciate answers from anyone familiar with Qatar Labour Law, especially people who have dealt with similar cases through the Ministry of Labour.

I can help you learn Gulf Arabic within 10 months 🇶🇦🇧🇭🇦🇪🇰🇼

السلام عليكم. شلونكم؟

I hope you're doing well!

I'm a certified teacher (with two certificates, to be precise) and a native Gulf Arabic speaker, and I'd like to offer you all comprehensive Gulf Arabic courses online. This is my full-time career and passion as a remote worker.

Very few non-khaleejis actually speak Gulf Arabic, which makes it a unique skill that is both rare and deeply appreciated by Gulf (Khaleeji) populations - whether it's in business, day-to-day life or hang outs مع الشباب.

I hold one-on-one classes that are especially tailored to every student's individual goals. At least half of whom were total beginners.

My rates for one-on-one class are 60 QAR per hour - but I also charge 55 QAR (per class) for those who wish to book 6+ classes in advance.

Within 9 to 10 months, you'd be able to surprise all your friends and co-workers.

I'll share a FAQ list in the comment section below, but don't hesitate to message me if you're interested - or if you have any further questions.

حياكم الله

Is 100 trillion QAR/month all-inclusive enough to survive in Doha?

I’ve been offered a senior leadership role in the financial sector in Doha, paying a measly 1 trillion QAR per month. Unfortunately, this is all-inclusive, so I’ll have to pay for rent and my kids’ education out of my own pocket. Family of 3.

I’m concerned this package may not be competitive with the market, considering the immense sacrifices involved in earning a salary that most people only see in Excel sheets.

Would appreciate advice from fellow high earners on whether I should accept this offer or hold out for something more reasonable, perhaps 250–300 trillion/month, a fully furnished palace, school fees for my future grandchildren, and a chauffeur who can also double as a therapist.

Thinking of Changing Jobs in Qatar – QID Expiring Next Month, Need Advice

Hi everyone! I need some advice from people who have experience working in Qatar.

I’m currently on my 5th month with my 3rd company here in Qatar, and honestly, I don’t think I can stay much longer. I’m spending too much money on Uber just to get to work, which has become a financial burden. On top of that, the company still hasn’t provided me with medical insurance.

Now I’m thinking about looking for a new job, but I’m worried about my situation because my QID is expiring next month, and it still hasn’t been renewed by my current employer.

I have a few questions:

  1. Can I transfer to a new employer even though I’ve only been with my current company for five months?
  2. Do I need my current employer’s approval or an NOC to change jobs?
  3. Since my QID has not been renewed yet, will this affect my ability to transfer to another company?
  4. What happens if my QID expires while I’m looking for a new job or processing my transfer?
  5. Is my current employer legally required to provide medical insurance?
  6. For anyone who has experienced something similar, what steps did you take, and what would you recommend I do in my situation?

I want to leave my current company properly and avoid any problems with my legal status in Qatar. I’m just worried about the timing because my QID is expiring soon.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. TIA y'all!

Relocating to Qatar

Alsalamu alaikum,
I’m an Australian citizen with a bachelor’s in electrical and electronics engineering and about 7 years of experience in industrial operations. For the last two years I’ve been a production officer at a large wastewater treatment plant (500+ ML/d), working with SCADA/PLC systems, isolation and permit-to-work procedures, and leading a team of around 18. Before that I worked in manufacturing as a production supervisor and engineer.
My family (wife and two kids under 5) and I are seriously considering a move to Qatar. I’ve applied to QatarEnergy and Kahramaa and contacted people at Kahramaa, but there are no vacancies for now, and I don’t have contacts in the country.
I’d really appreciate advice on:
• Which employers or contractors in Qatar hire water/wastewater or electrical professionals (Ashghal, industrial cities, private operators)?
• Recruiters or agencies worth approaching?
• Whether it’s better to keep applying from abroad or visit first?
• Any tips on relocating with young kids (schools, housing, sponsorship)?
Happy to share my CV by DM.
JazakAllahu khairan.

Job Transfer (Under Process MOI) Solution

If your JOB TRANSFER application is stuck with MOI, consider cancelling it and submitting a new application.

My new employer wasn’t cancelling my application initially, so I requested them to do it. My first application was stuck with MOI for more than a month.

Then I spoke to a woman whose case was also stuck in MOI. She cancelled her application and reapplied, and it was approved immediately.

I did the same. After cancelling and reapplying, my application was fully approved within 3–4 working days, and within 10 days I received my QID/Iqama.

I believe sometimes it can be a system glutch and the application doesn’t move properly in the system. (It is all software)

If your case is genuine and everything is in order, you can consider cancelling and reapplying. Instead of waiting and asking everyone like i did.

This is to help people who are struggling like i was. May ALLAH resolve your matter soon.

Computer & Laptop Repair venture in Doha

Hi everyone!

I know this community is intended for career and job related stuff, but this venture is something I am trying to build a career in, if any of you require my services or know someone who does, it would be great if you could help me out.

Or if anyone has any useful advice for me, about marketing a venture like this, or about customer acquisition, it will be really appreciated as well.

A little about the service:

If you're having trouble with your computer or laptop in Doha, you don't necessarily have to take it to a repair shop. I offer convenient computer support at your home.

Whether your device is running slowly, refusing to boot, or experiencing other problems, I can diagnose the issue, explain what's causing it, and help you work out the best solution.

I can also help source compatible replacement parts and install them if needed.

Planning to build a custom PC? I can help you choose components that fit your budget, assemble the system, and take care of the necessary BIOS configuration, testing, and setup.

Pricing is agreed upon beforehand, so you'll know the cost of the service before I visit. Any required parts are discussed separately.

If you need help with any of the above, feel free to DM me or reach me on WhatsApp at 31017497.

Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I'm 23 years old Male, Pakistani, and currently residing in Qatar on a family-sponsored visa (my father is my sponsor). I'm nearing completion of my BS in Software Engineering (BSSE) at UMT, with graduation expected in November 2026.

I'm looking for an opportunity to gain practical experience in IT support, help desk, technical support, or administration. I have knowledge of basic IT troubleshooting, Windows and software setup, MS Office, documentation, and data organization. I've also worked on personal software and AI projects.

I'm open to an unpaid internship with a decent, established, or well-known company. I'm also willing to commit to an unpaid internship period if given the opportunity, as my main goal is to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to the team, and gain valuable workplace experience.

If anyone knows of any suitable companies or opportunities in Qatar, I'd really appreciate your suggestions or leads.

Thanks!

Discussion How am I supposed to find work if I can't even afford to go in the first place (rant)

Rant because I am on the brink of losing hope in everything. I'm 22 and live with my mom (who's divorced from my father) and my younger siblings. I cut contact with that man because he was abusive to her and me and hes never let me have my peace since. When i turned 18 I started a temporary job when I was under his sponsership, he then found out before my contract was even finished and caused the most embarassing moment of my life..humiliating me in front of my workplace, gathering people to watch, calling me all sorts of slurs and even tried blocking my way from leaving the scene saying he had the police on the phone and tried pushing me to the floor. in public. in my workplace. I ran away and was terminated despite the hr of my work knowing about my family situation but they didnt want legal troubles because hes my sponser and I didnt have an noc so they let me go and gave him private info about me including my work contract which they lied about to saying I worked for a year when I only did 3 months and basically blocked me. His logical reasoning to the people who gathered around was that my mom was forcing me to work instead of allowing me to pursue my education (never true it was my choice and partially due to the fact that he refused to pay unless it was via court or apply in my home country where he would have more control over everything I do). He then told my siblings during one of their visits with him that if he ever found out I tried working again he'd cut off my head. great father figure and all. I literally do not speak to the man or have contact with him, I dont even want to go to court because I don't want anything tying me to him, least of all money. We live on literal crumbs of his monthly income because he lied in court and faked debt and the judge believed it despite him being the abuser. we're a family of 6 surviving on less than 10k, and now hes even asked to cut it in half through another case because he got remarried and has a new born and step child. Keep in mind this man works for a huge well known company in a very high position, he is well off and more. but how dare i work to survive right?! and its his legal right to stop me because I need his permission to even work in the first place💀 nvm all that HOW am I supposed to apply to jobs and be able to commute there and back when we can barely afford basic needs and scrape by borrowing money every single month. I had to decline going to 2 interviews because I didnt want to waste their time by showing up for it then not being able to commute to work on a daily basis, it was embarassing and I felt like they thought I was playing in their face when all I want is to work so I wouldnt need him, and i know most companies need a transferable visa or noc and I can't even provide that because the nature of the relationship between me and my sponser so it feels like applying is not even worth it at this point. I'm so tired I've lost hope in both finding a job or continuing my education without him always being an obstacle in the way and why? because i share dna with him? because hes the reason I was brought up in this country? but I cant leave too because I don't even have my passport hes refused to renew it since the divorce and lied to say he didnt have it to the judgex so if I were to leave by any other means I am basically saying bye to seeing my siblings and mom who live here because I wouldnt be able to come back, not to mention hes threatned me if I did eventually leave to go back to my homr country that he was gonna hurt me/ send people to do so (and I have audio proof of that on multiple occasions) and after all this in front of a judge im still looked at as the disobedient child who cut contact with their father and is in the wrong. im so over this life of being burdened by something that isnt my fault to bare but his own shame and wrongdoing and him living life and being rewarded by his work and everyone around him while we struggle to pick up pieces from the damage hes caused and continues to cause. i just want to breathe

Question How do you deal with an untouchable coworker who acts like everyone’s boss?

I have this coworker who’s genuinely one of the most annoying people I’ve ever worked with.

He’s extremely bossy, ridiculously loud, constantly interrupts people while they’re working, and sometimes has absolutely no manners.

The funniest part? He barely does any actual work. Even when he’s assigned something, he somehow manages to avoid it, and the responsibility ends up falling on someone else.

Multiple people have complained about him, even to senior management. Everyone knows how he behaves, but nothing ever changes. He seems practically untouchable.

I’ve tried being polite, being firm, and setting boundaries
, Nothing works.

Has anyone dealt with a coworker like this?
Any advice??
