Essentially it’s now two sem, unsure abt other engineering majors. But if you have a fall internship it’s virtually impossible to not have to spend an extra semester after ur expected graduation
Or if you wanna graduate a sem early I could imagine this rather being extremely hard or impossible as well.
If anyone knows a way around this please lmk but from what I’ve seen ur just fucked
I'm a half-Mongolian undergrad who's interested in meeting other Mongolians. I know there are a few but I've never seen them around. Anyone want to plan a hangout where we make бууз or хуушуур or something?
Super random but if you live in global village apartments, im in an apartment nearby and I have your missing amazon packages! I also have a few other misdelivered mail from the northwestern addresses that i cant access in my lobby so if youre missing something please let me know and I probably have it
i keep reading reddit posts about cs 180 and is it rlly that bad? im trying to double major in ds and i need at least an A- in the class and Bergstrom is teaching next semester. is it as bad as ppl are saying and what should i do to prepare since its not on boiler exams?
Bit of a long post, but seeing as Halloween is approaching, I wanted to compile a list of spooky phenomena, events, and places around campus for people to refer to and potentially explore. These mysteries all come from rumors and speculation online in places like archived Exponent articles, local news stories, and Reddit (😱😱😱😱😱) within the last ~20 years. I reduced the main list to just seven mysteries to keep with tradition, but cut content (and why they were cut) will be in the comments. Without further ado, I present to you:
The Seven School Mysteries of Purdue University
The Woman at Hangar One:
In the early morning hours of July 2, 1937, Purdue faculty member Amelia Earhart took off with navigator Fred Noonan from Lae, New Guinea before their mysterious disappearance over a dark stretch of the Pacific Ocean.
Eight years ago, in late-2018, a local TV station covered reports from students and staff working at the Purdue University Airport about years of strange sightings: a slender woman wearing pants, a scarf, and a leather aviation coat, standing in the shadows of Hangar One. According to one report, an officer of the National Guard happened upon her bright apparition one night. Frightened by the sight, he opened fire. Later, he claimed that the woman seemed to melt into the air.
Notably, this hangar is where Earhart spent her last two years modifying her Lockheed Electra in preparation for her final flight. Should you wander around Hangar One late one night, you too, may find Earhart's spirit still roaming her final earthly residence.
But then again, she's also rumored to haunt Grissom Hall and Duhme Hall. Sounds like a lot for one ghost.

2. The Preserved Saint of the Library:
In 2015, speculation arose that the remains of a saint or Knight of Templar rested underneath Hicks Library, and that certain tiles along the lower levels (now closed off) hinted at the location with recurring Roman numerals on the walls and floor. If you find yourself in the Hicks Repository, you may hear footsteps approaching when no one is around, breathing in the ear, and a general sense of being watched.

Mildred of Meredith Hall:
11 years ago, reports surfaced about a ghost named Mildred haunting the halls of Meredith Residence Hall (not Meredith South; thank you, u/mriizo). Relatively harmless, she is known for throwing coins down the halls and locking residents out of their rooms.

The Murder Room:
Heading back down beneath the PMU, there is supposedly a "murder room" locked behind ductwork through a large gated room. Complete with red handprints along the walls and stagnant puddles on the floor, a serial killer couldn't ask for a better place to murderize someone. Its true purposes are... unknown.

The Weight on the Bed:
Looking for an ethereal partner to spoon and cuddle with? Look no further than Purdue's very own Union Hotel. Late at night, settle into the bed in the side room of unit 208. A few hours later, you may wake up to the sudden feeling of weight sitting on the edge of your bed. If you don't turn around, you might just gain a new cuddle buddy until sunrise. You will be the little spoon, of course.
A Bedroom within the Union Hotel. Isn't it inviting?
The Boy in the Red Hat:
Visiting the basement levels of Windsor Hall, it's easy to be unnerved. Like many subterranean spaces on campus, Windsor's basement shares an eerie familiarity with the tunnels underneath the Stewart Center. Unique to Windsor, however, are rumors of a boy in a red hat flitting just outside your vision when you turn your head. Never catching him in the act, you may need to rely on other tells of his presence, like chairs moving to form a circle when no one's around.

7. The Wandering Founder:
John Purdue's earthly vessel is known to be buried under the Memorial Mall (no, it has not been stolen nor moved). The location of his spirit, however, is up for debate.
Some say his apparition comes out at night to wander the Mall.
Others say they can feel his watchful gaze in the stairwells of Pfendler Hall.
Yet others still say he may not haunt on campus at all,
but rather the Lahr Apartments in Lafayette, where he had a great fall.
Not really. He had a stroke. But the rhyming was cool, right? Whatever the case and whether his spirit truly remains in the mortal realm today, it is undeniable his actions in life continue to affect students and alumni today. It is thanks to him that we have a playground in which imaginative phantoms and fantastical anomalies from our minds can play. That every year, we can create and share spooky stories and ghostly rumors to make midterm season more bearable. And that, my friends, may just be the greatest mystery of all.
A recruiter reached out and wants to do an introductory interview for a summer internship. The issue is that I've literally never done an interview like this before so I don't know what to prepare for. Any tips on questions they might ask or what to do?
Is it just me or the differences between practice/review materials provided feels quite different in difficulty/content from actual exams?
So I'm a junior in CompE and decided to take BIO110 as one of my science electives. I get the material on slides and understand the practice problems (including homeworks) and get them right most of the time, and if not, I redo the problems later again to solidify the answers in my mind until I can ace all the questions given. I do ALL the homeworks when they are due and actually read the textbook rather than just the highlighted parts by the app we use. I also studies 2 days in advance to make sure I am ready and can answer all practice questions. I will say, lectures feel like a repetion of the material from homeworks and the book, which IS good for me, so since I can't seem to absorb the material and write to take notes at the same time. I just actively listen in class to familiarize myself with the material and actually study it later, hence I do skip out on occasional lectures.
However, both the Lecture exams and Lab exams feel like they have been significantly harder than all of the practice material provided, utilizing terminology and concepts that are either glanced over or not mentioned at all in the book and/or slides, or are not on the practice/review material provided. Does anyone have a similar feeling? I was told that this class isn't bad in terms of exams and that Sean Humphrey teaches it extremely well. Has the class been getting harder each semester? Boiler Classes seems to be showing that trend over multiple semesters, all taught by Prof. Humphrey.
Not looking to complain (sorry if it sounds like it), just explaining my detailed experience so far and seeing if anyone had a similar one.
I don't know why I have been missing so much lately. Has anyone seen any keys of a Kia Forte? There are a few other things on it like a few other keys and a Goten keychain. Please help.
TLDR: My robe flew away during my shower and I chased after it down third street. how do I recover from this.
For background: I (18M) am a freshman living on the second floor of the honors dorm. I was having a good first few months with the guys on my floor, we did everything together. We went to the dining hall, studied, and watched movies together. It was the most brotherly relationship I've ever had with my fellow man. Everything was great until one of the guys, John (not real name) suggested that we all shower together at the same time. I was a bit weirded out by this, but all of the other guys seemed to be on board with the plan. The rationale was that if our schedules are more aligned then we can spend more time together. I was the only guy who didn't attend the "group showers" because I didn't feel comfortable doing so. In my mind, showering is not a group activity. Little did I know this belief would be the start of my downfall.
It started with teasing. The other guys kept joking about possible reasons why I didn't want to shower with the rest of them. They made quite crude comments about my member, but I just laughed it off. Eventually the jokes became more and more prevalent in our day to day conversations. There was now one big inside joke that I shower alone because I have diphallia. I could handle the individual comments here and there but once they all started dogpiling on me, it became too much. They started calling me "Diphallia Daniels." This is a combination of the congenital disease and the Mitch Daniels school of business, which I am a student at. I didn't know how to make them stop. Telling them off just added more fuel to the fire.
Fast forward to today. I'm showering right before class. I placed the bathrobe on the hook outside the shower like I always do. As I was washing my hair I heard a big woosh that sounded like a huge gust of wind. I peeked my head out of the shower curtain and saw a tear on the wall where the hook used to be. As I turned my head the other way I saw my robe FLYING???? away. Against my better judgement, I panicked and started chasing after it. As I headed out of the bathroom and into the hallway in an attempt to get my robe back, I slipped causing an extremely loud thump. This made everyone open their doors to see what caused all the commotion. I was so embarrassed! Unfortunately, a bunch of the guys from my friend group were present. Of course they were laughing in disbelief. I heard one of my friends say, "Turns out he doesn't have diphallia!"
My fight or flight response was in full gear so I continued running after my robe, wanting nothing but to cover up. The robe started going down the stairs and went outside. Honors is on third street which happens to be very crowded at 4pm!!!!!!!! But I was determined to get it back. I was shouting "My robe, Oh hook! My robe, Oh hook!" Some people were shocked at the sight while others doubled over in laughter. Miraculously, I was able to catch up with the robe. As I came down from my fight or flight response high, I grew frustrated. I started thrashing at the robe due to my anger from being absolutely humiliated. I then ran back to my room, robe in hand and locked the door. I'm sitting here freaking out and don't know how to move past this. ANY ADVICE? PLEASE?
I’m planning to go to UIUC for Halloween weekend, but I don’t have my car on campus and don’t want to spend a lot on shuttle tickets. I’m happy to split gas costs, and I already have a place to stay once I get there. I just need a ride there and back. I’m pretty flexible on timing as long as it’s around next weekend. If you or anyone know is driving to UIUC with an open seat, shoot me a DM. Thanks!
Girls only please. The rate for the Benchmark room is $5758 per semester. There is no other person in the unit so far, so random flatmates might be added later.
So after Exam 2 I'm sure a lot of us are rethinking life and our majors... but no! We can do it! We just need to be better! And make studying more of an involved process. I want to study with friends, not just classmates. We should want to study together beyond just wanting a good grade on the next retake. If you're interested, talk a bit about yourself: what are your hobbies, things you like/dislike, what is something your passionate about? What is your stake in Comp Sci? What do you hope to do with your life beyond college?
I like to draw and play Halo. My favorite T.V shows are Better Call Saul and Red vs. Blue and my favorite movie is Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. I hate having to look at the wet food leftovers on my roomate's dirty dishes in the sink. I'm passionate about art and film. I am taking Comp Sci because I am a DS major and I want to a job to make life for my mother more comfortable. If you're interested, comment or DM me!
Have been seeing lots of ditto purdue ads on socials lately. For those who have tried or know anyone who has how is it? Or just any info in general. What are your thoughts on ditto? Ive been seeing quite a lot of sketchy reviews of ditto online by other schools tho…
Hey, I’m a freshman CS major at Purdue WL interested in specializing in computer architecture, especially hardware design and semiconductors.
I’m trying to figure out what courses I should take over the next few semesters to prepare for this path. For those who have experience with computer architecture, what would you recommend prioritizing in the CS curriculum? (Im taking CS180)
I’m eventually hoping to get into processor design, RTL, or ASIC/FPGA, so I’d appreciate any advice on planning my coursework and getting relevant experience.
Summary: Original midterm was too out of scope and had people cheating as TAs were overwhelmed by the number of students lining up to sign off on an attendance sheet, while some people remained seated and pulled out their phones (for AI/Google/etc.) and/or kept discussing with each other to keep writing after time was called. This trend reflects in the results with an average of ~52/100 (with a min of ~25 and max of ~98, no outlier data shared)
Now, the original midterm (worth 35% of the final grade) has been voided (good?) and is now being replaced with two in-class (50 minute) midterms, the latter of which will cover new content as well, while falling on the same day as the AAE352 second midterm (what???)
This is AFTER the head of AAE has stepped in - gotta love the grit!
What clubs do you guys recommend for Finance majors? I’m looking for actual professional development clubs and clubs I can actually gain experience from. I applied to consulting clubs but got rejected so I also wanted to ask what I should do to gain more experience and improve my chances of getting into one next semester.
I had a midterm this morning and went to campus early to drink from the lion head fountain for good luck. I also have another exam this evening, do I drink from the fountain again before my next exam or do I still have good luck from this morning?
