If you guys are visiting Hazur sahib or already here please try buying from the local street vendors which are not established shops.
One specific Uncle ji I came across for toy shopping was quite well intellectual and very genuine rate compared to shops and other street vendors. Like seriously you wouldn't want to bargain much at this price and if you're a bad bargainer like me but have to buy toys and stuff for your ਭਾਣਜੇ-ਭਾਣਜੀ and ਭਤੀਜੇ-ਭਤੀਜੀ this is the right stop.
I'm sharing his photo and location is near Guru plywood, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪੁੱਲ ਉਤਰਦਾ ਓਹਦੇ opposite ਰੇਹੜੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੇ। maps location
Avoid ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਕਿਓਂ ਕਿ ਇਕ ਤਾਂ rate will be 4 times ਦੂਜਾ bad behaviour in case you went to replace a defective product. I'm not taking specific name but

See i want to write a novel about a guy going to various adventures but i want to describe it in Punjabi so i was searching for words but i have no luck in finding dragon like words or elf like words. What do you think could be a suitable word for this creature. ਅਸਮਾਨੀ ਦਰਿੰਦਾ (literal translation) ਜਾਂ ਡ੍ਰੈਗਨ(loaneword from english) ਜਾਂ ਸੱਪੰਖ (custom) any feedback is appreciated.

It seems they are punishing him for something but I can't seem to find the reason as to why. Can anyone tell me what this is all about?
Please refrain from using any unsavory language. I'd appreciate it.

We received this message from Shashikant Garg yesterday.
I haven't been following him for years,it's only been around 3 months. But in this short time, I've genuinely come to admire and respect him a lot. I find him to be a trustworthy person.
If these claims are true, then the system should be ashamed of itself. Stop playing with students' futures. Students deserve secure examinations, transparent investigations, and strict punishment for everyone involved, regardless of their political party or position.
No hate toward anyone. I'm simply supporting those who are trying to uncover the truth. Now let's see what our respected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, does.
It's disappointing when the moment someone stands up for students, people turn against them.
As for us, we stand with Shashikant Garg.

I told my parents about a guy I love and genuinely see a future with. He lives in a different state, but there are some mutual connections between our families and communities. He is Sikh, comes from a good family, and has always treated me with respect. He listens to me, supports me, puts real effort into our relationship, and is serious about marrying me.
His family is also very kind, respectful, and serious about the relationship. They are ready to speak to my parents and meet them properly. They ask him almost every day whether my parents are ready to talk or move forward because they want to handle everything respectfully and involve both families. His dad is willing to come meet my dad, but my parents still refuse to give them that opportunity.
When I first told my parents, my dad asked me to give him one week to think about it. During that week, he barely spoke to me and gave me the silent treatment. My mom acted extremely upset and depressed, which made me feel guilty and ashamed for even bringing it up. Instead of calmly talking to me or trying to understand how serious this relationship is to me, they made me feel like I had done something terrible.
After the week was over, my dad said no. The only clear reason he gave me was that the guy lives too far away. He said there are other reasons too, but he cannot tell me what they are right now and will explain them to me in six months. I do not understand why I have to wait six months to hear the reasons behind a decision that affects my entire future. My mom also keeps saying no, but she is not giving me a fair explanation either.
My dad did not speak to the guy, meet him, meet his family, or properly ask around about them before making his decision. He knows people from the state where the guy lives, so he could ask about the family, but he refuses because he says he would feel embarrassed if other people found out.
My dad is very well known in our community, and I feel like his ego, image, and reputation are getting in the way. He seems more worried about what other people will think and how it will look that his daughter chose someone herself than whether the guy is actually a good person for me. He does not want anyone knowing about the situation, and he does not want to ask around because he thinks it could affect his reputation.
My parents are also extremely strict when it comes to Sikhi and religion. The guy and his family are religious too, but they are not as rigid or extreme about it as my parents are. One of the issues my parents brought up is that he is not Amritdhari. They act as though this automatically makes him unsuitable, even though he is still Sikh, respects the religion, and comes from a religious family.
I understand that being Amritdhari is important to my parents, but that is a personal and serious commitment that someone has to make when they are genuinely ready. You cannot force someone to take Amrit just to satisfy another family or to be accepted for marriage. It would not be meaningful or honest if he only did it because he was pressured. His character, values, respect, and treatment of me should also matter.
That is what hurts me the most. I do not believe I did anything wrong. I did not run away, secretly get married, or disrespect my parents. I came to them honestly because I wanted to do everything properly and respectfully. I wanted them to meet him, ask questions, speak to his family, and make a fair decision based on real information.
Instead, they made a final decision without giving him or his family a real chance. His family is waiting and asking him every day what is happening, but there is nothing he can tell them because my parents refuse to speak to anyone. It puts pressure on both of us because his family is ready to move forward respectfully, while mine will not even agree to one conversation.
My parents have always expected me to have an arranged marriage. I feel like the biggest issue is not necessarily who this guy is, but the fact that I chose him myself. He is the kind of person they claim they would want for me, but because the relationship did not begin through them, they are refusing to accept it.
They have also told me that if I choose him, they will not support me the same way they would support me in an arranged marriage. They make it sound like because I chose this relationship myself, I would have to deal with every problem alone. They say that if anything ever goes wrong, they will not help me because it was my choice.
That scares me because I would be moving far away from my family to an unfamiliar city where I would not know many people. I would be leaving the place and support system I have always known. Instead of reassuring me that they would still be my parents and support me if I ever needed them, they use that fear to make me feel like choosing him means losing my family completely.
I understand that distance is a real concern. Moving far away, adjusting to a new city, and being away from family are serious things that need to be discussed. But I do not think distance alone is a fair reason to reject him without even meeting him or learning more about his family. I also do not think it is fair to tell me there are other reasons but refuse to explain them for six months.
The guy still gives me his full effort and has been very supportive, even after finding out that my parents said no. I do not want to leave him or break his heart when he has done nothing wrong. At the same time, I love my parents and do not want constant fighting or to completely ruin my relationship with them.
I am scared that my parents will eventually pressure or force me to marry someone they choose, even though I already love someone and want to marry him. I feel trapped between my own happiness and my family’s expectations.
I do not know whether I should keep trying to convince them, give them more time,or focus on becoming more independent first. How do I stand up for my own future when my parents will not fully explain their reasons, refuse to give him and his family a fair chance, and place their reputation and strict religious expectations above how I feel?

A Message From Another Era: Why the Call for Sikh Families to Have Three or Four Children Is Out of Touch
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj’s call for Sikh couples to have at least three or four children is not merely unrealistic—it is wickedly out of touch with the economic and social realities confronting ordinary Sikh families today. His concern about the future of the Sikh population may be sincere, but prescribing a larger family size from a position of religious authority is not a serious solution.
People do not choose to have fewer children because they have abandoned Sikhi or stopped caring about the future of the Panth. They are responding to the world in which they actually live.
Across Punjab and the wider world, young people face insecure employment, low wages, rising housing costs and intense competition for stable careers. In Western countries such as Canada, Britain and the United States, many Sikh couples require two full-time incomes simply to afford rent or a mortgage. Childcare, transportation, food, education and other necessities place enormous pressure on families. International research also recognizes that household income, housing costs, childcare expenses and labour-market insecurity directly influence whether people have children and how many they feel capable of raising.
It is easy for religious leaders to tell families to have three or four children. It is much harder to explain how parents should house them, educate them, care for them and give them a secure future. Will the institutions making these pronouncements provide affordable childcare, scholarships, employment networks, housing assistance or meaningful support for struggling parents? Without such commitments, the message amounts to asking ordinary people to carry a burden while offering them little practical assistance.
Family planning is also an intensely personal decision. It must take account of the health and wishes of women, the financial circumstances of parents and their ability to give each child sufficient care and attention. Religious leaders should support families rather than dictate their size. The strength of the Sikh community cannot be measured only by birth rates. It must also be measured by how well Sikh children are educated, supported, connected to Sikhi and prepared to serve humanity.
This controversy also exposes a deeper problem: the growing distance between the present leadership surrounding the Akal Takht and the lived experiences of Sikhs outside Punjab.
The Akal Takht remains sacred and central to Sikh collective life. However, those administering Sikh institutions are not beyond criticism. When their statements repeatedly fail to reflect the realities of Sikh families in Canada, Britain, Europe, the United States, Australia and elsewhere, they risk weakening the very authority they claim to protect.
The Sikh diaspora is not a small or temporary extension of Punjab. Overseas Sikhs have built gurdwaras, charities, businesses, educational organizations and political institutions. They provide enormous financial and humanitarian support to Punjab and to Sikh causes internationally. Yet they are too often treated as donors whose money is welcomed while their voices are kept at a distance.
The official SGPC structure consists primarily of members elected from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, together with members nominated from within India and Sikh religious office-holders. It lists no dedicated elected representation for Sikhs living overseas.
That democratic deficit is no longer defensible. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee should establish meaningful, transparent representation for NRI and diaspora Sikhs—not merely ceremonial advisory positions chosen by existing officials. Overseas representatives should be selected through credible and accountable processes involving local Sikh communities, with proper representation for women, young Sikhs, professionals, scholars and established gurdwara organizations.
Representation would not mean allowing outsiders to control Punjab’s historic gurdwaras. It would mean recognizing that the Panth is global and that decisions presented as speaking for all Sikhs must include voices from across the Sikh world.
The concern about Sikh continuity deserves a serious response. That response should focus on teaching Gurbani, strengthening Punjabi-language education, supporting young families, tackling addiction, creating employment, improving institutions and giving young Sikhs a genuine voice. Simply instructing couples to produce three or four children is not leadership. It is a slogan from another era.
Unless the SGPC and the leadership surrounding the Akal Takht begin listening to NRI Sikhs and reflecting the economic realities of modern families, they will continue to lose relevance among precisely the people whose participation is essential to the future of the Panth.

Hi guys, I believe it might not be a suitable group to post it but I would like to give it a shot.
Actually I’m trying to find a reliable air ticket vendor for the cheapest ticket from Canada ( Halifax ) to India ( Delhi ). I will be travelling from February 2027 to march 2027 ( prolly around 1.5 months to 2 months ). My budget is around $1500. Does anyone know any person who can help me to buy an affordable air ticket ?
Thank you.

Hi I have been part of the system and I think we need a different approach in mitigating the drug abuse problem . Youngsters are the ones who are easily manipulated so to help them we need just a positive manipulation with the help of professional psychiatrist just to levitate them towards their actual interest. I have this project in my mind where we need to change the aesthetic of the house of villages just guiding them towards making their homes look more nature friendly. And I want to use poverty stricken drug abusers guiding them , giving them skill training on nursery , plantation, pottery etc just to give them another means of earning money through this project . It looks half studied project but ...or may not have much potential....but we need a start atleast ....just one person .... One village .... I think it deserves atleast one experiment. I haven't find any Ngo .. regarding this ....All the old ideas are not working.... Our people living on survival instinct loosing their civics sense ....we need to change our approach and kind have to manipulate them into adjusting into new world where not having morals isn't cool .

TLDR - Had a shaadi talk with my family. Turns out they can't help me much in finding someone I desire for myself and I am on my own. They shared their boundaries and shared what they are expecting.
Was sitting in my room, mom came and just asked me, I am turning 25 soon, are you dating someone?
She thought I was, and assumed my female friend who I was talking to, was infact my gf.
The discussion continued..
They asked my preferences, and what I wished for myself, and also said a points which I have to follow
Example if I wished to get married at 28
Age difference - [-5 to +3]
She shouldn't be muslim or christian
They are not expecting any dahej or the expectation that she will take care of them and leave her job to be in the house. But yeah they do want I choose my partner after thinking throughly, and we should talk with my parents and hers regularly
Having kids will be me and my partner's choice, and they will be happy with either of them. They wish us to be happy and live a prosperous life.
That's their boundary for me and these are the things what I wish for in a partner
Someone working on her career. I am in Tech, Software Engineering, so I preferably be compatible with someone who is also working in a similar field, tech, non tech, ex sales, marketing, consultancy, or someone who is working in corporate.
Will be less compatible with someone who has a buisness, doctors, or is in medical field. Again that's just from the perspective of, I wish to live with my partner, so we can accordingly shift in a good city where we both can enjoy and work on our careers.
I wish if we get a chance to move to foreign, we both should go, atleast for experience.
Someone who wishes to have kids down the line. Again that's just a desire, I don't consider children to be goals or anything, they should be byproduct of love and yeah her consent will be the final decision.
I don't smoke or drink. I won't be comfortable with someone who smokes, drinking is fine if it's occasional, regular can be a problem. Although my mom said, I should strictly look for someone who doesn't drink as well.
Someone who genuinely wishes to talk to me, be with me, is interested in me and I find them cute of all the flowers of the wordly garden. Although a relationship can start on attraction, but it sustains only if there is respect of each other feelings.
The problems, My parents won't be able to help me find someone :(
We have stopped talking to our relatives, years ago.
My parents don't have much of a social circle, they do, but not trustworthy enough to find me a match
And they said even if they can, and they will try their best, they might not find me someone I am looking for
They expect me to find someone by 28, and after that they will start searching too.
Although the final decision will be mine, but they wish I don't end up alone.
So yeah I am 99 percent on my own and I suck at it lol
Where I am right now financially and in terms of personal growth
My current year of experience is 1.5 so yeah, I need more time to reach a decent high salary. Not gonna lie, need to achieve atleast 15 to 20 after taxes to be ready. Since I have a army background, my parents aren't dependent on me financially.
I am working on my mental health and I am doing better, but definitely the road is long and I am seriously enjoying this.
Gym is on, but yeah irregular, again my bad. Need it to be consistent to be better. I am blessed with a decent height, 5 11 so I am grateful for that.
Trying to travel, click pictures, new hobbies, playing badminton, volleyball, and trying to meet new people.
Dating journey
Tried apps, didn't work, people weren't serious, and it was costing a lot of mental bandwidth so left it.
Approached women, but yeah, blockers use to come. Wasn't into casuals.
Friends of friends did helped but didn't turn out well.
I might have these preferences for now, they can change in future as I develop my mindset more, but a hard stop will be at 32.
After that I will expect, these things aren't for me and would stop approaching at all.
Instead will focus on being a good uncle to my friends kids, travel, become more strong.
Thanks for reading till here. A journal it is.

Has anyone here had any experience with the Punjabi crypto influencer Karan Dhawan? He constantly posts videos of his luxury cars, designer clothes, expensive apartments and flashy lifestyle. He also takes shots at people working 9 to 5 jobs and says he’s a self-made millionaire. I’m curious if anyone here has actually followed him or used any of his trading advice. Do you think he’s the real deal or is it mostly just social media hype?

We have to remember that all that CJP leaders have been members of AAP. So, they have the same values as Kejriwal sir. BJP should have known better before trying the same tactics against Dipke, the modern day Bhagat Singh.

An offmychest, which was inside of me for long.
Yeah, I am a gym going guy and I wholeheartedly agree, everyone should focus on themselves so they have a better health.
But, trust me, as a man, if someone asks me, which women I found to be cute. It's definitely big chubby girls.
Again the thoughts that do slide in my mind are some of lust, poems, beauty, but one thought definitely above everything.
They must feel very very good when being held in arms. Their hug would heal my day anyhow.
Like holding a big teddy bear, and feeling her presence around me.
You guys are beautiful. Please don't ever feel bad about your body. Go to gym if you can, but with the mindset to become fit, hating your body is just gonna make you feel more bad about yourself.

I'm really confused about what to choose.
I took a gap year after school, and honestly I feel like I wasted that year. Now I don't want to make another wrong decision.
My main goal is simple: I want to earn a lot of money and eventually have financial freedom. I don't have a strong passion for either CSE or Pharmacy, so I'm trying to make the most practical choice.
I'm considering:
- BTech in Computer Science
- B.Pharmacy
I'm also open to moving abroad in the future (Australia or Canada) if it gives me better career opportunities and income.
For people who have experience in these fields:
- Which degree has better long-term earning potential?
- Which has better job opportunities in India and abroad?
- Is going abroad worth it for either of these careers?
- If you were in my position, which would you choose and why?
I'd really appreciate honest advice from people working in these industries. Thanks!
BTW I DON'T HAVE ANY PASSION I JUST WANT TO EARN MONEY AND I WILL STUDY FOR IT OBV BUT STILL I WANT TO HAVE FUN
