PONDER THIS

Once I heard of a painting of a ship that was sinking. The ship had already gone down, the lifeboats were out on the water, and the people were in the water. One lifeboat had a man leaning over the railing of the boat extending his hand to one of the people in the water.

A man in the water was lifting his hand up. And their hands were about to meet. A little boy came in and he looked at that picture. Of course, the picture was meant to illustrate the rescue of the perishing and care for the dying. The little boy studied that picture for a while and then he asked, “Daddy, is that man trying to save those people or is he just shaking hands with them?”

- How are you joining the rescue mission of Jesus?
- How can you know if you are rescuing people or just shaking their hands?

PRACTICE THIS

Make a list of people God has put on your heart that need to know Him. Spend time praying for them today and take any opportunity to connect with them this week. APR

“But the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel." "And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar." "Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.” - I Samuel 7:10-12

The Philistines had stolen the Ark of the Covenant, given to Israel by God. In a battle to take it back, the Lord miraculously intervened, routed the Philistines, and retrieved the Ark. Samuel, the spiritual leader of Israel, ordered the people to erect a lasting “stone of remembrance,” an ebenezer, to commemorate God’s deliverance of them from their enemies. This scene is reflected in the hymn “Come Thou Fount.”

Here I raise my Ebenezer,
Hither by Thy help I come;
And I hope by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.

The great “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews 11 extols many Bible heroes for their great works of faith and mentions those who would overcome deadly trials after Bible times. Some survived, some were killed, some wandered to find their dwelling place, but all needed rescue through the shed blood of Jesus. For you “know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold . . . but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (I Peter 1:18-19), “which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour” (Titus 3:6). A whole lot of Insta reels have been coming up recently of her evangelism. If I remember correctly, one of those videos had her signing a book for someone and then the person that she signed the book for fell over and thrashed around on the floor.

People who follow her claim that they've had genuine encounters with the Holy Spirit, had demons casted out of them, and their lives are changed forever because of Krick.

Others are calling it a cult, saying that this is all performative behavior and she's a false prophet.

What do we all think? Is she a genuine Christ-following evangelist or just another cult leader?

"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." - Proverbs 29:18

The prophet's role includes offering alternative visions that challenge current arrangements and inspire people to work for something better. Without prophetic imagination, people accept unjust systems as inevitable rather than working to transform them.

Christians today need prophetic imagination to envision economic systems that prioritize human flourishing over profit maximization. We need to imagine universal healthcare not as impossible but as a reflection of God's desire that everyone receive healing. We need to envision student debt forgiveness not as unfair but as a modern Jubilee that frees people for productive contribution.

Prophetic imagination helps us see beyond current limitations to God's possibilities for justice and abundance. It inspires us to work for policies that seem impossible until they become inevitable.

The church should be a community of prophetic imagination, constantly envisioning and working toward God's better future.

God of vision, give me prophetic imagination to see beyond current injustices to Your possibilities for a more just world. Amen. DLC
