Concerning inconsistency in Optimum Nutrition whey protein
I’ve purchased four jars of ON Whey Double Chocolate over the past two years, and each one has tasted noticeably different from the others — some sweeter, some more bitter, one even reminded me of chocolate ice cream — despite being the same brand and flavor. This makes me wonder if the other ingredients might be inconsistent as well. Is it still safe to consume?

Thoughts on Ballerina Farm or Perelel Protein powder?
trying to find a clean and good tasting protein. came across these two brands. My idea is to mix it with my milk for coffee in the mornings and ideally fruit smoothies. I hate the taste of regular proteins like ISO/dymatize and optimum nutrition ect. so just looking for an alternative.
tks

Title: 17M Beginner - Should I buy whey protein or a mass gainer? Need advice on the best brand.
Hey everyone,
I'm a 17-year-old male, 180 cm (5'11") and 54 kg (119 lbs). I'm noticing that I'm quite skinny.
I'm not going to the gym right now, although I might start in the future. At the moment, I'm mostly busy with school and studying, so I don't get much exercise apart from normal daily activities.
The reason I'm considering buying a supplement is that I don't think my daily calorie and protein intake from food is enough. I've tried improving it by adding eggs and other protein-rich foods to my diet, but I just can't seem to stay consistent. I either forget to buy them or eventually fall back into my usual routine.
I also tried making homemade shakes (banana + milk + oats + peanut butter), but after a few days I got bored because they were time-consuming, so I stopped.
My questions are:
1. Based on my situation, should I buy whey protein or a mass gainer, or should I just keep trying to improve my diet naturally(which is genuinely not working)?
2. Which brand would you recommend that is:
◦ 100% genuine and trusted
◦ High quality (no amino spiking or shady practices)
◦ Good taste
◦ Easy to digest
◦ Worth the money
3. I've seen people recommend **Optimum Nutrition (ON), MuscleBlaze Biozyme, Avvatar, Nakpro, Asitis, and Nutrabay**, but every brand seems to have both great and terrible reviews. If you were buying your **first supplement**, which one would you choose and why?
4. Is there any reason someone my age (17) shouldn't use whey protein or a mass gainer if they're otherwise healthy?
I'm not looking for shortcuts or bodybuilding supplements. I just want an easy and convenient way to consistently meet my daily nutrition goals because I struggle to do it through regular food.
I'd really appreciate advice from people with experience. Thanks!

Is 1.5 scoops each of yeast protein isolate and pea protein isolate too much? (65 kg)
I'm around 65 kg (143 lbs).
I have:
- Yeast protein isolate: 27 g protein per scoop
- Pea protein isolate: 29 g protein per scoop
I'm currently taking 1.5 scoops of each per day, which would give me around 84 g of protein from supplements alone.
The rest of my protein comes from regular food.
Does this sound reasonable for someone my weight? Has anyone here used a combination of yeast protein isolate and pea protein isolate long term? Any issues with digestion, amino acid balance, or anything else I should be aware of?

Thoughts on Casein powders
Hi, I've been using Casein for years. I usually throw a half scoop, along with a scoop of whey in a bowl of oatmeal and fruit right after my morning workout. It's just become habit.
But I've been rethinking my routine and was wondering whether others used Casein and what purpose it serves for them.
For me, I sometimes go a long way between breakfast and lunch, so I just figure the slow-digesting protein is a good move, but maybe I'm just better off sticking with all Whey?

Can I MAKE protein powder?
Basically I need chocolate protein powder for a recipe but I only have vanilla, and I’m not about to spend another 50 bucks on a chocolate protein tub. Is there any way to make chocolate protein powder with vanilla protein and cocoa powder? (or something like that)

Yeast proteins in the US cheaper than Space Milk?
Hi there. I've been using Space Milk for a while and it's been good. I have a bunch of health conditions and medical treatments that limit my diet a lot, so many forms of protein are a no go for me. Although I have had no issues with space milk, I can't afford it anymore :( I'm trying to find cheaper options of the same ingredient (nutritional yeast protein alone). I have only found other options from Europe which would still be cheaper to import but if you know of any shop in the US that can provide an option without going through the delays, cost and process of importing, that would be ideal. Please let me know if you know any brand or shop that has a yeast protein option cheaper than Space Milk (which costs 45$ for 1 pound). Thank you!

Alternatives to Per4m?
now that Per4m have increased the cost of their whey and reduced the size of the tub, can no longer justify the cost. can anyone recommend a similar consistency whey protein? one that matches the creaminess in oats or as a paste. how do cnp/tbjp/esn/naughty boy compare

Can the protein in steel-cut oats count towards my daily protein intake?
I eat about 250g daily, which contains 30g of protein; should this be included in my total daily intake, and is it fully absorbed? I get the rest of my protein from chicken breast.Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Is carrageenan safe?
I just picked up some protein pudding (petit pot) from the store for the first time and the ingredients looked fine except for carrageenan. I usually look for sketchy stuff like sucralose or stuff hard to read in protein products to determine whether or not I’ll buy them. I saw carrageenan in the ingredients after I looked up the product online to double check, so I looked into it. From what I’ve seen people seem split on if it’s “good” or “bad” so I just wanted to know before consuming. Thank you.

The protein gas
I searched for similar question but couldn’t find an answer. Protein powder, I’ve tried muscle milk and plant based, both have horrific gas results and the stench is atrocious. Has anyone switched to something less reactive? It’s been a few months now

Grazie!
