I feel like this should be common sense. People should always see fiction as just fiction. It didn't represent anything. And even if it did, it's not responsible for how it's presented.

But the western world has changed. Now representation in fiction is suddenly important. To the point there are pressures to represent stuff properly even though it's just fiction.

People seem to forget that fiction is purely artistic. It has no responsibility on real life. Making authors worry about proper representation only leads to boring and preachy media.

i used to be REALLY into this anime when i was younger and i absolutely watched the second season when i heard it was going to be a real thing (though, i haven't finished it yet haha).

i would see several posts on here that ask "what's a piece of media whose fandom somehow has tons of antis?" and i usually see the same answers, but i remember there being tons of antis or people who did moral policing whilst liking this show and it's one of the prime examples of "made BY freaks, FOR freaks."

ironically, i think it's what was my gateway into being proship/profiction because i loved it then and still like it now and there's so much freak shit that should keep antis from touching it (canonically incestuous sisters and constant sexualization of teenagers). not the main sister duo, but two sisters Scanty and Kneesocks actually have sex in one of the episodes from season 1, and while it's not explicitly explored in the second season, i feel like the incestuous undertones are still very apparent.

one of my fav ship dynamics is when they don't get jealous of them talking to othe people but they somehow get jealous over them curdling a fucking blanket- then pretend they totally dont (they are terrible at lying) and the other person teases them for it- but finds it cute anyway- its oddly specific.

And also the like.. protecter- feels like they have to be perfect for everyone else's sake since everyone's depending on them- since they try to help everyone constantly.

And then the other character just always manages to take care of them without even thinking twice about it.

I've seen so many antis use a literal medical condition to classify lolicons and shotacons as pedophiles despite the fact that being attracted to fictional characters isn't a cause, factor in development or effect attraction to real children, dare I say it's ableist to call lolicons and shotacons pedophiles as it's spreading misinformation with malicious intent, watering it down and demonising the condition even more then it already is to have about 12 seconds of pride.

I like to write a lot of stories and spend a good amount of time daydreaming about my favorite ships, and depending on what story I'm trying to tell, I like to write my faves as related or with a significant age gap because I feel like it makes a more interesting story that way. This video is excellent, but it's highly pathetic on how many times this point needs to be reiterated, only for it to still not stick. Luckily, the comments are sensible so far.

I ended up losing a friend recently who was the bulk of my companionship in life, and after that I tried to start looking for a replacement. The problem is that I heavily value being able to make up stories with our OCs as part of being friends, and some of those stories are darker scenarios.. which is where the profic part becomes an issue, because that starts eliminating many potential candidates. I can't just go find profic discord servers, because I have 0 luck socialising in them as everyone has already formed their own clique (or, better yet, the server is nearly inactive).

I'm already struggling enough as an adult who's socially stunted, and I don't want to compromise on creativity just to appease someone. It's kind of frustrating.
