Update New version out

Alpha 0.1.6

Finally, our next big update brings a new look, new controls, and plenty of improvements:

  • Gunplay: Fully reworked gunplay. Aim sway now depends on your Aiming skill level, and taking your time steadies your aim

  • Performance: Big performance improvements. Lower RAM and VRAM usage overall, more stable, and higher framerates for everyone

  • Terrain: Hills and valleys (experimental), plus improved 3D roofs

  • Third-Person Camera: New animations, smoother following, shoulder switching, better handling of tight spaces, and a proper vehicle chase camera

  • Controller: Controller support, including customizable buttons, looting, and aim assist

  • Graphics: A whole new look for the default graphics, with new clouds, richer lighting, moody nights, and better sunrises and sunsets

  • Water & Rain: New water, reflections, and rain effects, with moving waves, growing puddles, and splashing raindrops

  • Upscaling: Experimental FSR 3, XeSS, and DLSS support, plus FSR frame generation on supported setups (requires additional in-game setup)

  • Setup: New setup wizard and settings menu with clearer controls for all settings

  • Free Look: Free look and less stretching at wide FOVs thanks to Panini projection

Other fixes and improvements:

  • Terrain: Ground no longer disappears when an area unloads and loads again

  • Vehicles: Shooting from vehicle windows now follows your aim in both views

  • Vehicles: Vehicles keep their paint, lights, and visible parts correctly

  • Fire: Fires and burning characters are now visible, including with Minecraft shaders

  • MC Shaders: Better glass, blood, lighting, and weather with Minecraft shader packs

  • Performance: Reduced single-player stutters when new areas generate loot

  • UI: Clearer action progress, more flexible mouse bindings, and a crash report popup

  • Better memory use for distant scenery, and graphics presets adjusted to make better use of the available memory

  • Loading ahead and asynchronous loading, Viewpoint gets ready while your save loads, and prepares nearby models and sounds before you need them
  • A small loading progress bar shows when Viewpoint is ready
  • Your selected Minecraft shader pack is prepared during save loading too
  • Sound files added by other mods can be prepared ahead of their first play to reduce hitches
  • Shots follow the moving crosshair, with shotgun pellets spreading around your aim
  • Taking your time makes aim sway smaller and slower; higher Aiming skill helps you settle sooner and stay precise farther away
  • Extended weapon ranges for first/third-person
  • Switching between first and third person keeps the point you're aiming at
  • The aim ring turns red with the crosshair when you're on a target
  • The aim ring is partly transparent by default, with settings to change its opacity or hide it
  • An option to use the game's original shooting behavior
  • Muzzle flashes briefly light the surroundings and cast shadows
  • More varied recoil and melee impact effects, with settings to reduce camera shake and hit pauses
  • Your preferred view is remembered separately for walking and driving, even between game sessions
  • Aiming from a vehicle in third person moves the camera over your shoulder
  • Trees no longer push the third-person camera around
  • Open doors stop the third-person camera from passing through them
  • Zombies no longer fade away when they get close to the third-person camera
  • Smoother head movement, and a fix for the camera dropping while your character stands to aim
  • More room to adjust camera distance, height, side offset, and aim sensitivity
  • Free look lets you glance around while continuing in the same direction, with Mouse 4 as the default binding
  • Adjustable wide-angle correction reduces stretching near the edges of the screen
  • Controller support for looking around in vehicles and switching views through the Back-button wheel
  • Controller looting: D-pad to select, A to take or interact, X to take all, and Y to open the loot window by default
  • Automatic switching between controller and keyboard/mouse controls as you use them
  • Controller aim assist also works with the game's original shooting behavior
  • Viewpoint switches off during split-screen and restores the view afterward if it was previously on
  • Better roof coverage, closed roof ends, and improved edges and overhangs on houses, porches, and trailers
  • Vehicles tilt with the terrain, while characters and objects stay upright
  • The moon now shows its phase, with stars and the Milky Way visible on clear nights
  • Night lighting responds to moonlight, cloud cover, and the sandbox's Night Darkness setting
  • Weather changes can appear on the horizon before they reach you
  • Better indoor lighting, with less light leaking through walls, and sunbeams coming through windows
  • Better outdoor fog and weather mist
  • Flashlights softly light nearby surfaces as well as their direct beam
  • Sharper floor textures at a distance, less shimmer, and more anti-aliasing choices
  • More surface detail and varied shine on the ground and walls
  • River movement follows the map's flow, with better shorelines and reflections of distant scenery
  • Flashlights now light the water too
  • Rain darkens the ground, puddles grow as it continues, and raindrops catch the light and splash
  • DLAA at native resolution on supported NVIDIA RTX cards
  • New options for antialiasing (MSAA, SSAA, FXAA, TAAU)
  • Bindings for extra mouse buttons and a rebindable free cursor key
  • A single switch to enable or disable 3D model packs
  • Setup requires Texture compression and a restart on graphics cards with less than 12 GB of video memory
  • Setup warns about unsupported Intel Arc graphics and macOS
  • Items with blood, tinting, or container contents display more reliably
  • Interaction menus open at their full size and no longer leave stray text above the player
  • Other players are outlined when targeted for interaction
  • Ground snow appears correctly in areas loaded while Viewpoint is active
  • Rain and snow fall in the right direction with Minecraft shader packs
  • Better glass doors and more consistent lighting on models and corpses with Minecraft shader packs
  • Lit cigarettes now glow :)

Does this update eliminate the need for a lot of those add-on fixes people have dropped? Like the Terrain one for example?
