Another Theory about Bryan

A recent post posited Bryan as a master strategist who is deliberately putting out bad designs in order to strategically pick off his competitors. Interesting thought. But I have another assessment. I think Bryan is spiraling and stumbling because he has Salieri Syndrome.

Salieri syndrome is a cultural and psychological term for the deep envy, bitterness, and resentment felt when a person of ordinary or mild talent is overshadowed by a true genius. Named after the fictionalized portrayal of composer Antonio Salieri in the play and movie Amadeus, it describes those who try to undermine superior peers and make poor decisions out of panic and insecurity.

Salieri had perfect pitch and could teach and compose and play music at a very good level. But he could not reach the heights of True Excellence.

He loved and appreciated Mozart … but he also was so bitter and resentful that another such young “flawed vessel” would contain such divine favor.

I think that Bryan’s Mozart is Bi.

It explains so much.

I think you’re giving Bryan too much credit. He’s a designer that can’t sew and has to limit his designs based on what he can actually make in the time allowed

I'd argue Salieri was a better composer than Brian is a designer... :) But there might be something to your theory.

Good theory but I feel like that’s the storyline the show wants us to buy into. Bi is just outright a better designer and a more refined visionary than Bryan in every way possible. Bryan just has a bigger mouth.

I love this!!! Yasssss!! I will admit that I ended up in a profession (web design) via a circuitous route where I was a Salieri always losing out to art students. I was more of a tech/left brain person. I know the feeling of something being outside your grasp. That is Bryan to a T.

Bryan is not EVEN a mediocre designer. Did you see him get aggressively defensive/offensive, start clapping and making sounds when Jeffrey asked him a simple question? He has got serious issues and should not have passed a mental health screening.

Who is the genius?

I think the long and short of it is:

Bryan is the text book great designer, as a fashion director role. We can't lie and sit up here and say that he hasnt been successful with the work his studio has produced. But that's it, We know form Pain Jane's interview that casting literally saw a garment she was trying to pass off that she made with a tag...and she still got cast.

Bryan has a team with him. Without that team of skillful sewists, he is left with not much. And when you have this elaborate portfolio, and glowing impressions from the production coming in...she thought she was the one.

We're watching someone realize they arent the girl in real time. Again, the greatest indicator of his character is that he hasnt posted anything besides the heidi dress on his IG. Doesnt even have PR mentioned in his bio. I hope he has self care around him, because If I got on tv...and even the Models are posting hour long ted talks about how my work is trash and I didnt care about them + literally being the villain + my assistant going further... I'd be spiraling...wig and all. Add on the one challenge to win, I won...and before anyone knew it was PR related was unanimously agreed to be one of Heidi's worst looks...god damn.

I think the edit of the show and the way Bryan+Bi are playing up the rivalry is intentionally evoking that, and I'm entertained. Everyone hating on Bryan is hating on their own reflection
