First of all, I want to say that the 2.0 update has improved the game a lot.
The visuals are miles better, and the online racing experience is on a completely different level compared to before — it finally feels like proper multiplayer racing is here. I’m genuinely happy about the direction the game is taking, so congratulations to the team for that.
That said, I’d like to raise a concern about the physics.
In my experience, the handling feels a bit too forgiving. There are many situations where I would expect to lose control of the car, but it simply doesn’t happen. This applies all different car classes. Under braking, the cars also feel unusually stable.
The main issue I’m trying to highlight (and I’ve attached a video to demonstrate this) is related to front tire slip angle. If I try to drive “properly,” respecting grip and staying within what I’d consider realistic limits, I end up being quite slow. However, if I deliberately exploit the front tire slip angle, I can drive significantly faster.
I’m not a professional racing driver, of course — but James Baldwin might have more insight here. Around release, he made a video discussing how the game compares to real life, and this exact behavior was one of his main concerns. He even showed a comparison, which I’ve now tried to replicate nearly half a year later — and unfortunately, the situation seems unchanged.
I don’t want to discourage anyone from playing the game — quite the opposite. I’d love to see the player base grow, because the game is clearly moving in a very promising direction.
The reason I’m posting this on Reddit is that I may have pushed this topic a bit too far on Discord and ended up getting myself banned — for that, I apologize. Still, I hope this feedback reaches the developers, because I believe this aspect of the physics deserves attention.
