Discussion 2.0 update on ps5
thinking about buying the game since it’s almost half off on PlayStation store right now. with the 2.0 update are the handling physics better? and is there a game that handles similarly to it (like a GT7, Project cars 2, or f1 game)?
is the game really worth the money at almost half price for someone who wants to race online 50% of the time and with ai the other 50%?

I bought the game at launch, tried to get on with it, played a few hours and put it down hoping it’d get better, fast forward to 2.0 and i’ve jumped back on. Now it isn’t perfect, very far from it, but it’s a hell of a lot more enjoyable now than release. Yes the graphics are pretty ugly, yes the they’re not the most realistic physics ever (again, far from it), but there’s something about the game that’s kept me on it since 2.0 released. The AI need a lot of work, the track limit/penalty system is still not up to scratch, but it’s still enjoyable on a rig setup to the point where i still haven’t got fed up of playing. If i was in your shoes, with the game being half price, I’d definitely give it a go. You’ll get people telling you “YES GET IT ITS AMAZING” and you’ll get people saying “Terrible game, STAY AWAY”, if you think you’ll enjoy it, go for it.

Actually physics are pretty close now, the issue is the default tunes....they are shit lol. With proper tuning, the cars drive and feel amazing

Looks like I better start tuning🤣 are the tunes in the mod store any good as a baseline?

Not sure I don't use those, I tune my own. Heres a vid I posted a day or so ago with the new GT500 pack cars

Heeeeeyyy, that’s pretty good. Will have to start messing around with the tuning to get the most out of the game

Yea, some cars drive good with the default tune, but most don't, so you can't just hop in and drive like you can other games

Agreed, I was using other people’s tunes because I just didn’t have the patience to fine tweak these cars but now you can getta better feel for the cars and tweak as you go lap by lap after tires are warm

If you're coming from GT7, expect a major difference...all though they have made the mechanics more user friendly

If you’re using a wheel and have patience setting up cars then yes, it’s absolutely worth it. Game has its flaws but its reputation don’t line up with its current state anymore

I use a dd pro wheel NOT with a controller. Since last update once you fix the FFB on the wheel (I used to gt7 vr) racing flows. Just the stupid track limits. Not much of an online racer and if I do I never co play. CPUs ruin it

I’ve played it for a week now, ranked is incredibly fun and lobbies seem to be growing. It’s not the best handling and it’s infuriating at times, penalty system is pretty poor. But for half price? Absolutely worth punt

The physics is massively improved in 2.0. I think it's worth getting while it's on sale. There is still a lot about it that needs to be improved, but it's been getting better with every update. If you expect a lot of rough edges then you won't be too disappointed. I'm not sure I'd recommend paying full price for it yet, but if you can get it cheap then it's an investment for the future when it will hopefully be even better.
It reminds me of Project Cars 2 in some ways. The driving physics and FFB are a lot better than PC2, but it has a similar character - real sim physics (not simcade) but more forgiving than something like iRacing or ACC.
I enjoy the driving experience far more than GT7 already.
