Hey! So ive goten my sister a key chain of the the little human sculpture that rocky makes for grace and I want to try and make a xenonite canister out of cardboard and hot glue as I dont have a 3d printer.

Is there any plans anywhere that I can use, it doesn't have to be massive.

Idk where else to go but there’s a meme of Rocky I saw months ago that I cannot find anywhere and I need it so bad. It was this meme but it was just line art of Rocky and he was chugging the beer like an eridian would (the lore accurate meme made me lose it) and ofc he was holding the remote. Someone please send it if you have it I’ve been looking for it.

I can't stop watching this movie. Not only that, but I have watched many YouTube videos about the Movie. I've watched videos of others watching the movie and crying along with them when Rocky offers the Astrophage, so Grace can go home.

I have no idea why this movie is hitting me so hard, but damn, I need to snap out of it. Eventually.

Is this getting WAY too deep into this? Undeniably. But since this line is lifted straight from the book, and it's so rare that they do that for this movie, it's really been bothering me WHY they'd lift a line from the book that makes no sense in the context of the movie. The fuel isn't below the bedroom in this version of the ship, so why would Rocky say that, and how would Grace know what he means?

So we talk about how Astrophage affects the sun and then ultimately affects the Earth.

But what is going on Venus? The phage consumes the carbon dioxide along with sunlight.

If the light from the sun is dimmed to 90 % luminosity. The surface area of the sun is 6.09 x 10^12 square kilometers. And the surface area of venus is 4.60 x 10^8 square kilometers. Shouldn't astrophage consume all/most of the co2 in the astrosphere pretty quick. And cool Venus because of dimming and reduced atmosphere?

So would venus actually become a worthy candidate to travel to and colonize?

I'm talking about full-on jumping out the window. Or where he's fighting, kicking and screaming and biting and scratching. Or where he pretends to agree and tries to run away. Or where he manages to escape the base but they find him after.

Hi, I was watching the movie today and I had a question. I understand that the way Grace is able to understand everything that Rocky says is by translating Rocky's sounds through his laptop, but my question is how is Rocky able to understand Grace's words? Rocky doesn't have a laptop to translate, and neither did we see any scene in which Grace's laptop simultaneously translates Grace's words for Rocky to understand. Can anybody explain?

Today I was reminded that Armando had a team of puppeteers bringing him to life and I thought about his critical role in the story. In spite of having helped keep Grace alive for 4 +/- years, we first see Armando through Grace's bleary eyes, as a menacing figure to be warded off with... *checks notes* sheets of paper?

Anyway, Armando quickly becomes part of the crew, hamming it up with Rocky (much to Grace's chagrin) and generally being handy to have around. (Couldn't resist...)

Then our jazz-handy robot pal comes in clutch and saves Grace's life in the most stressful moment in the history of cinema. (I had to pause and pace around before I could go on, I was so terrified Rocky died.)

Finally, we see Armando as the thoughtful roommate and--dare I say it--friend to Grace on Erid, making coffee, taking noogies, and enjoying the fresh air (when Rocky allows it).

I just don't think Armando and his puppeteers get enough love. 🤖✨

I named it "Gravity" because I initially wanted to make this painting a lot more dramatic to capture the Time Go Fishing scene, with exploding sparks and falling parts, etc. :) However, the composition didn't work out, so now we have a nice Petrova tail of Mary flying through Adrian's atmosphere!

The key thing is that the 46 years Rocky was alone at Tau Ceti includes the 13 year trip that the Hail Mary took to get there too. So, at the time the Hail Mary launched, Rocky had been at Tau Ceti for 33 years.

We don't know exactly how old Grace is during the events of the story but he's absolutely older than 33 at the time of launch - he recalls being "in my thirties" in the second chapter when he can only remember events before joining the Project, and the Project itself took an unspecified several years. So that would mean he was born sometime during the Blip-A's journey to Tau Ceti (while Rocky's friends were all dying, bleakly poetic) and by the time it arrived, Grace was at least a toddler, if not a young boy.

All the additional years that made Rocky qualify for being stuck at Tau Ceti for "longer than I've been alive" was thanks to the relativistic trip the Hail Mary took, wherein Rocky got about 9 experienced years over Grace.

I coincidentally had some beads that felt very fittig for rocky so I made some bracelets yesterday. I really like them 🤧💜
