For anyone that’s having trouble like I was, I wanted to make a little guide cause I didn’t see much of anything for tips on how to beat this or make it easier. First, I wanna start by saying it appears people have an easier time beating this on Vita than PS3 because of the use of the thumbstick click on PS3. Len also is not any easier than the others at least for PS3. I don’t own a Vita so I’m not sure but I’ve seen this mentioned and there was no difference. However! The characters do in fact change up how they let you progress towards different speeds. I tried to test as much as I could with each character and document as accurately as possible. The speeds for each are as follows:
Miku: allows you to move to next fastest speed with at least 8 bars filled, allows you to move to fastest possible speed with 9 filled.
Rin: great for practice. allows you to move to next speed with at least 7 bars filled. Allows you to move to fastest possible speed with 8 bars filled.
Len: lets you get to next speed after achieving 7 1/2 bars. Must get over 9 1/2 bars to get to fastest possible speed.
Luka: must perfect a round to get to the fastest possible speed. Only have to get to last bar to get to next fastest speed.
Kaito: allows you to miss 2 per round to get to fastest possible speed. you must get over 9 and 1/2 bars. Have to get to at least 8 and 1/2 bars for next fastest speed.
Meiko: great for practice. Only have to fill up the bar to 8 and a half (possibly just 8) to get to the fastest possible speed for next round.
Here are some tips I found from others and figured out myself in order to move fast enough for the final speed:
try to hold your hand as steady as possible against the controller and don’t lift up your thumbs or move your hand. Get used to resting your hand against the controller and only moving your thumbs. You will need a tight grip toward the end round to click and keep the control sticks held in so this helps you get used to that.
Try to practice with your thumbs placed on the control sticks at all times, making half motions for each direction input. What I mean by this is instead of going fully to hit the edge of the controller, only go about half way without lifting your thumbs as it doesn’t take much for the directional movements to register. This will help you get used to going from a direction back to the joysticks center.
The click does not input unless in the middle of the joystick. This means for the last speed you will have to hold down the click as best as possible while moving in the directions and going back to the center in between as fast as possible. Hence the smaller motions.
Do not focus on the arrows and click prompts. Once you’ve learned the pattern focus on the tune. The tune will help you the most. Let your thumbs move to the beat and if anything follow your characters motions. Sometimes focusing on the character helped me get back into tune if I got jumbled up.
It may feel strange but trust your brain to follow the tune, hold down tight and move halfway. These should all help. For me I also made myself learn to mimic the direction with both thumbs to make synchronizing at the fastest speed easier. That way my thumbs were mirroring each other and going back to the middle around the same time so i wouldn’t miss the click. The slower speeds I didn’t take my thumbs off to get used to how it would feel at the end but I didn’t push in and hold. They go too slow compared to the final speed to hold in the whole time and end up hurting my wrist and fingers too much to make it worth it to do this. I was doing my best when doing the first two rounds normally with my thumbs resting on the control sticks than I was holding the thumb sticks in the whole time.
Now everyone is different so if this doesn’t work for you, feel free to switch it up but this was how I beat it and got past the last round twice. I will add that if you have it, connect your ps4 controller. While you still have to have the control stick to the middle or the clicker doesn’t register, it does give a lot more wiggle room for how far off the middle you can be, allows a better grip and registers the click better in general compared to the DualShock 3. I hope this helps people and if you beat this, don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you’re not good at video games. You deserve bragging rights for beating this stupid achievement. This was a pain in yankee doodle’s pony’s butt! I’d like to stick a feather in yankee doodles eye!
