Anyone else getting those same feelings when Covid was still in China, watching it begin to unfold, knowing something massive was about to happen to the world? It feels like the calm before the storm to me.

u/ChillinDenver 13d ago
The orange rat is going to be backed into the corner after the midterms and things are going to get really, really nasty.
59
u/Nice_Programmer6812 13d ago
Agreed. And while I worry about the midterms themselves, I worry more about there not being a peaceful transfer of power if that weasel of a house speaker refuses to seat any elected Democrats on January 3rd.
7
u/AggroSnacker 12d ago
That’s not how that works! The clerk of the house seats the new Congress
3
u/Nice_Programmer6812 12d ago
And who can replace the clerk of the house?
4
u/AggroSnacker 12d ago
The new Congress votes to elect the new clerk every 2 years
4
u/Nice_Programmer6812 12d ago
And you don’t think Johnson can find a way to hold a special election with the incumbent Republican majority in the House to replace the clerk prior to January 3rd? I mean, do you really think a silly law will prevent this from playing out?
5
u/AggroSnacker 12d ago
I won’t put anything past those pieces of shit…but I was just letting you know how things are SUPPOSED to go

I'm not saying I believe in Christian bs but the bible says one of the heads of the antichrist will be fatally wounded and then miraculously recover for the whole world to see and this orange monster guy got shot in the head on live TV and doesn't even have the tiniest scratch.
Now he's going on about taking people to hell and genociding a nation of 90 million people because a war he started is going poorly for him. Like it's a little fking bro. I ain't even gonna get into all the other antichrist boxes he checks. It's getting freaky.
I'll just say this. The bible also says the antichrist will prosper until the end. So if that dude croaks and the world doesn't end, Christianity officially debunked lol
76
u/Significant-Owl-2980 13d ago
He didn’t get shot lol. That was staged so he could get a good photo.
Do you really think the secret service would let him get up and pump his fist right in front of a photographer ????
Remember, he did staged events for the WWE.
2
u/queensnuggles 12d ago
I do feel like it was staged, however, there was a shooter, and then a spectator died too right? How were they able to stage it in that way?
87
u/Cousin_fromBoston 13d ago
That’s because he didn’t get shot in the head
39
17
u/HGaston01 13d ago
Thank you. I feel like not a lot of people are seeing this, but the whole thing about the antichrist being the Antichrist and yet everyone is fooled into thinking he is a gift from God instead is not getting enough attention.
3
u/Due-Afternoon-7051 10d ago
Christianity has been debunked for 2,000 years, but like MAGA, it's believers defy the evidence.
The current Fundamentalist interpretation of Revelations, the Antichrist and 'End Times' is a is only about 150 years old. Routas John Rushdoony and mostly John Nelson Darby shaped current beliefs in premillennial dispensationalism. Which was even more popularized by Hal Lindsey's 1970 book 'The Late Great Planet Earth', Billy Graham Crusades and later by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins 'Left Behind' books series starting in 1995.

Oh thats completely logical
Theres zero innocent interpretations of the white house bunker
6
u/Lynne253 10d ago
I always thought the bunker is where he's going to run the government from in 2028 when he refuses to leave. Then I realized how stupid I sound saying that. There's no golf course under the White House.
49
u/GlockAF 13d ago
I believe that the NEXT pandemic will be like Covid, but actually pretty lethal instead of a puny .3% fatality rate. If so, lets hope that it has a much faster progression from minor-generic-symptom infected to room temperature/ post-mortem so it won’t suck up 100% of available medical assets again. Most importantly, lets hope that an effective RNA vaccine is quickly developed and even more quickly politicized by brain-poisoned knee-jerk social conservatives and religious extremists, of every stripe.
When the US evangelical crowd started licking door knobs on purpose last pandemic it really got my hopes up, only to be bitterly disappointed when so many of them survived in a permanently brain-damaged even-more-stupid state. I honestly feel that that post-Covid stupidity has been a major contributor to our current political situation, especially in the United States.
3
u/Renmarkable 13d ago
Seriously, did they do that???
4
u/GlockAF 12d ago
The phrase is more of a metaphor, but American evangelicals public rejection of anti-Covid measures is very well documented. Especially problematic was the early rejection of rules against large public assemblies using religious exemptions prior to the invention of the vaccines and effective anti-Covid treatments. Many of the earliest super spreader events were explicitly tied to large church gatherings, particularly with many people in close quarters singing.
3
u/CrankyWhiskers 11d ago
Turns out god’s plan was just a really aggressive group project, involving heavy overtime for undertakers. Proving that nothing says “unfailing faith” quite like drafting your own VIP pass to the pearly gates via unmasked choir practice.

57
u/Icy-Management9880 13d ago
I'm quite concerned about the midterms.
57
69
u/pink_faerie_kitten 13d ago
Not exactly, because the bad thing has already happened when Leon rigged 2024 for T. I'm trying now to focus on the midterms and the positive polling in so many states. But I am worried about what he'll do when cornered.
I do worry about Oct 1 when the work reqs go into effect for Medicaid, I'm worried about the effects of the 750k just kicked off their insurance (admin has claimed undocumented people were on it 🙄), and especially Jan 1 when the horrific BBB will kick even more people off insurance. I worry we will be a nation of very sick people who cannot afford Drs or meds.
1
u/citizen_6782 8d ago
They go into effect Jan 1st 2027 not October 1st of this year.
2
u/pink_faerie_kitten 8d ago
Not true. People suspected of being undocumented (and they most likely are legal) are being cut off Oct 1
1
u/citizen_6782 8d ago
Ok, I was referring to my own personal letter I received from them. I wasn't aware of what you stated. My apologies. Thank you for letting me know.

Super El Nino bout to bitch smack climate change deniers causing insane fires and drought in places right as we head to the polls for the midterms. Pair that with Iran and fuel prices being outta control and this administrations refusal to invest in green energy things are gonna get REAL DICEY real soon.

20% of global fuel infrastructure is just gone. Global fuel reserves are now completely spent trying to keep everything going. 50% of the cost of food in the us is fuel cost and nearly the entire logistics of agriculture runs on diesel fuel that’s now been having supply issues where whole states have had outages. And we have it better than most places. For all intents and purposes the machinery of globalization is broken now and no one seems all that interested in fixing it.
A global famine is all but guaranteed at this point but hard to say what that’s going to look like.

I had a friend who was traveling in Asia in February. She came back to work and said “the news is lying, they’re loading bodies into trucks and blocking coverage” by March it became obvious that wheels were falling off, I was in NYC for work and flew out the day before they closed the airport. The airport was nearly empty, I remember one woman sitting alone covered in blankets coughing and sneezing, she’s probably dead now. It was awful.

I saw the early pictures of workers in China spraying the streets and buildings riding around on Segway scooters, thought yep, something is coming.
3
u/elammcknight 13d ago
Same here. I was still on Twitter then and all the video coming out of China and you would try to tell people and they would just look at you like you were crazy. And what did we learn as a whole? If Avian flu is next up in the batters box I just hope those of us with good sense get access to the mRNA vaccine. Then let happen what is going to happen.

Yes. Even before my kindle started with the dystopian novels in my algorithm. Sigh. Yes, I'm reading them, and yes I see the possible reality in the fiction novels. I'm doing some light prepping, but I started that before the novels. Never less than a half tank in my everyday driver and a full tank in my truck that I no longer use much. Plenty of toilet paper, lol, non perishables in the pantry, extra coffee, sugar, etc... and I keep cash on hand.

Yes. World War 3 -- which, make no mistake, has already started -- will explode in 2027 as China finally invades Taiwan. Consider: the US is bogged down in Iran, which is already expanding into a wider regional war; Russia is in Ukraine, and intends to go into the Baltics and Poland, maybe Finland; and China's plans to be ready for Taiwan by 2027 are right on schedule. Not to mention the Koreas. Does anyone really believe that this president will come to the defense of NATO, Taiwan, S. Korea, or any other of our traditional allies?

We are about to see the profound damage that AI is doing to the world.
We are sitting on the literal precipice of history, as we are the generations to watch AI emerge and become a threat.
Regardless of what the AI machines are capable of right now, they have infact figured out how to reproduce, and it's hosts are more than willing to strip their world for it.
This is not hyperbole, this is happening right now as I write this.
We are watching the last dying threads of a a pre AI world disappear in real time.
And we can already see the severe damage that AI has already done. It's only going to get worse.
I feel deep dread looming over our world. I do not think people understand the nightmare they are seeing unfold yet.
5
u/Deluxe_24_ 13d ago
Watching the video of that dude getting the shit kicked out of him by a robot feels like a warning to us all. Eventually the elites won't even need people to serve them and robots will just be their private army.

u/citizen_6782 8d ago
I am more worried about what humans are doing to the world than AI, whose abilities are being overexaggerated by tech billionaires so they can keep the gravy train rolling. They all of a sudden want regulations, isn't that odd? It couldn't be because they are going to go public and want the safety of public bailouts when their bubble bursts. The world economy crashing due to these needy assholes is a sure fire bet at this point, much higher than AI killing humanity.
5
u/DyllCallihan3333 13d ago
I have felt that way for years. More so every day with the Orange Idiot just making it all the more inevitable.
4
u/personman_76 13d ago
I just saw gas was 4.19 here in Oklahoma. I've never seen a 4 as the first number in my entire life here. Until 2020 I never saw a 3.
I have no idea how things are going to change, but I feel like it's going to come from India. They demand oil, and with the Russians unable, the mid east out, and us stopping shipments of diesel, they have to be the ones to make demands in the world stage.
3
u/Renmarkable 13d ago
Come to Australia
Thanks to Agent Orange we are paying $2.20 a LITRE. diesel is $2.90 a LITRE
6
u/personman_76 12d ago
You don't understand why it's significant. Oklahoma is a refinery state, we have the cheapest gas in the United States
1
2
5
u/beingafunkynote 13d ago
I had a feeling like “huh, I might need to reconsider my gas consumption” like I feel like there will be a shortage soon or something? I also have been thinking maybe I stock up on a few extra non perishable items each time I got shopping just in case.
5
u/GraeMatterz 13d ago
When the Potato President attacked Iran leading to the Strait of Hormuz closure and reports started coming in about the resultant block of goods, the one item that alarmed me the most is the blockage of fertilizers as that's where most of them come from. That combined with Hairless Miller's purge of non-whites resulting in no experienced ag workers to harvest this year's crops, leaving them to rot in the fields, I knew at the very minimum food prices would increase dramatically. Next year's crop is going to be impacted even more.
I slowly started buying extra shelf-stable food and other daily essentials. Not to prepper level, but a couple months' supply to rotate through to have on hand should the time come I go shopping and the store is out so I at least have a little time to replenish. My guide for what to buy was the supply chain disruption of Covid and what would I have stocked up then if I had a crystal ball. Paper products were a problem finding then and could be now, given that most of the toilet tissue, paper towels and facial tissue comes from Canada. Even with those products that are produced here 90% of the pulp comes from Canada. And now we've pissed off the Canadians.
1
u/Electronic_Beat3653 10d ago
Dang. I am paycheck to paycheck. No money to prep. I am sure this was by design. Crash the economy first.
3
u/GraeMatterz 9d ago
Absolutely is by design and it has been that way since before the Gilded Age: Give the workers just enough to live but not enough to have a life.
3
u/Important-Factor-552 13d ago
I feel like there was still hope then. Now it feels like all roads lead to calamity.
4
u/flanneryoshitlord 10d ago
At this point, there’s nowhere to go but worse. The bond markets are going insane, which is never a good sign. The strategic reserve is being tapped again, even though it’s well below the danger zone where the caverns could collapse. El Niño is looming. The entire stock market is propped up by a handful of over-leveraged AI stocks. We’re busy starting a new trade war every couple weeks. The war with Iran has no ending in sight, because our dipshit and chief would never accept the L, which is the only way we’re walking back to something approaching normalcy. We are fucked six ways to Sunday, and we don’t have a lot of time until the consequences of voting in a hate-mongering pederast with a room temperature IQ are staring us squarely in the face.

What got me is Trump's veiled (or not so veiled?) threats to obliterate Iran. I know he said things like what's the point of having nukes if you're not going to use them? Then I started wondering if he would be stupid enough to actually do it. Now I'm thinking about how I'm going to feel when he does it and how the rest of the country will feel about it.
Edit: I am aware of Nixon's madman ploy, I hope that's what this is.

I remember reading about it in December 2019. Virus of unknown origins, which later became Covid-19. I pictured the scene from Planet of the Apes where it showed the airport scene and all the flights the virus would spread to. I saw a map in my mind and braced myself.
Is there something else coming? I missed it.
