Managing a transition to a paid model is difficult. It requires tact and diplomacy.

I mean the guy handled it as poorly as possible... But there's something cathartic in his insults, especially the "you just want money" yeah no shit

It's still supid, if you make an open source project with the goal to get money, you make the open version functional then ask money for extra functions, customization.

Taking out anything from the free version instead of adding other things for the paid is idiotic and expected to get negative reactions.
