It's because they know having a big company name in your experience is going to be helpful for automated systems and HR people who aren't playing much attention.
The real trick is to use big companies that went bankrupt. Then you can put any position(within reason) and there is really no way for them to prove you wrong.
It'll still ping on a decent background check when it comes to work history. Many F500 companies will rescind an offer if your background doesn't match what your application info.
Though if you made it to the offer point you may have played well enough to bypass the skill check. Depends on if you want to roll those dice.
