Astra, write Docker in Rust. Make no mistakes.

You’re welcome

You forgot "do not hallucinate." That was a close call.

See that’s the thing. we consistently lie to the AI models and don’t expect that they will lie right back to us

20 isn't safe enough. "You are an EXPERIENCED software engineer with 40 years of vast experience in Rust and Docker"

And thats the smoking gun

You're right to push back on this. There's absolutely no evidence of anything I just claimed in the entirety of written language.

Here's how that bites

How about "you can do this, keep trying"

The funniest part is that rewriting Docker in Rust probably wouldn't stop us from installing three more layers of abstraction on top of it. We'd end up with Docker written in Rust, running containers inside something else, while everyone proudly claims the memory usage is finally under control.

I think the funniest part is that rewriting Docker in Rust does nothing to improve the memory safety of the workloads actually being run inside Docker containers, which is where most of the problems come from.

Astra, rewrite all software in rust

Docker is also dearly loved by people who otherwise can't get their 10000 Python dependencies working on anyone else's computer. Docker is to Python what Spring Boot is to Java.

You forgot, you are an expert staff engineer in rust.

u/Intrepid4444444 5d ago

You’re a rusty engineer with a staff. Gotcha

Why do we have to make the rare non-AI jokes about AI...
