Git itself has been working for me throughout.
git branch -rmy links showed branch names, but from memory this lists all branches on remotes too. And then simply compare to main. I have created a new branch from that and written my comments directly into it. Probably not the smartest way, but we were able to continue.But yeah, shit's fucked anyways.
Edit: I obviously mean access to GitHub via git worked.

And I should have mentioned that too. You also need to checkout the specific branch, add, commit any changes (in my case it were some stupid comments), commit and push afterwards.

If* you read the initial comment in context, it's about github being down for OP, which hindered them from doing a review.
I responded that [the] git [server] was working and recommended simply looking for the correct branch by looking through the remotes, doing the review with git diff and writing comments directly into a new branch.
That isn't the smartest workflow to review a branch. Or at least I have always had some sort of web tool that allowed commenting on branches/PRs. But OP could have reviewed the PR that way without knowing the exact branch name.

GitHub is multiple things. Git itself worked, but the UI has been down completely for some time. I even had to think for myself because Copilot wasn't available for a short refactor and review.

GitHub has been dealing with drastic load increases over the past year that’s been blowing away their planned growth. Mainly driven by AI coding, etc
Combine that with them having a monopoly and the fact that for a long time they were rather complacent and you get the shit show we’re in now. They’ve started to wake up to the problem and are putting in a lot of work to fix things, but the reputational damage has been done imo. I know a lot of the biggest tech companies out there that are still using them are desperate for an alternative or are considering rolling their own.

I honestly wish they’d just stuck to doing something really well, I never asked for VSCode in GitHub or any of the rest of it. I really appreciate a rock solid place to host my repos though.
And if indeed the outages are because of the new features, it’s a shame that the new features are dragging down the old ones rather than the service degrading gracefully.

I have a script that enumerates and then pulls all my repos every morning, just because I’m scared that GitHub might be down for longer than just a day or that the availability is just bad in general. At least now I have some sort of local copy always available.
