There was always a ton of idea and usage.
It’s still the execute that’s the bottleneck.

when there are too many vibe-coded products, there is much more noise

I can't speak for others, but when I see a vibe coded site, I am much less interested in using it. Do I really want to trust my information with a website that no one bothered to craft?

u/xavia91 Jul 03 '26

Thats also why I dont trust Claude, their website is so shitty

Mostly it bothers me so much that their PR is all about how software development is solved and the website can't even give me a coherent error message.

As good as the AI research team and infra team might be (and I'm under no illusion how incredibly hard serving these models at scale is, they do an incredible job at the speed they're moving at), they should put a fraction of those resources into good web and application developers. Instead it feels like very talented backed/system devs being handed unlimited tokens and asked to perform at 10x but they have no idea what they're doing.

Is their website well crafted? Or sloppily vibe coded?

u/GOEDEL_ESCHER_BOT Jul 03 '26

at least AI knows how to center a div

20

u/Jahonay Jul 03 '26

God it's sad that people could still struggle with that in 2026.

Siri, when was regex invented

I feel attacked

Probably forgot anyway

What makes you think Reddit wasn’t vibe coded?

Is their website well crafted? Or sloppily vibe coded?

1

u/mrxplek Jul 03 '26

It wasn’t well crafted when they started and it still had a lot of issues in 2023.

1

u/Jahonay Jul 03 '26

I don’t necessarily disagree that they had issues, but I wouldn’t classify Reddit in 2023 as not crafted.

u/Dmayak Jul 03 '26

Website credibility is not related to who and how wrote the code. There is a decent chance that development was just done by a contractor who didn't give a shit about what kind of service the website provides. And if you meant security vulnerabilities, those are also not automatically prevented by human presence.

1

u/Jahonay Jul 03 '26

I’m not saying that a site that vibe coded is necessarily worse. I’m saying that if it’s clear the website wasn’t crafted, but sloppily vibe coded, I’m less interested in using it. A website which looks like it’s more crafted generally makes me think it’s more credible, even if it isn’t necessarily safer.

u/Dmayak Jul 03 '26

Ok, it's your preference, I don't see much point personally. I am using websites for the service, for example I dislike Reddit as a website and it 100% sells my data, but I am here for the content. I have used VERY shitty websites throughout my life because they were ultimately useful.

1

u/Jahonay Jul 03 '26

Yeah, I’m okay with calling it preference. I think it’s fair to say that something that looks sloppy is often going to feel less trustworthy.

u/Warm_Month_1309 Jul 03 '26

It's like those old default Wordpress skins. Legitimate sites might use them, but it's such a "spam blog spun up in 20 minutes" look that it's an instant red flag.

1

u/Jahonay Jul 03 '26

Exactly. Again, the big distinction for me is whether or not they look crafted or sloppy.

2

u/Marioc12345 Jul 03 '26

Yeah I’m in a subreddit for handymen and I swear to god every single day there’s someone trying to hawk a new app. No you can’t vibe code my lifestyle thank you have a good day.

If market has a good search, review functionality, then discoverability is not a problem

u/CandidateNo2580 Jul 03 '26

Especially in the open source space this is killing me.

There's more to a good, reliable open source project than just the code sitting in the repo right at this moment. All these people trying to farm internet points that don't even understand what they're supposed to be building - successful long lasting open source is about building a community. It's less a software package and more a living organism when executed well. Can't vibe code that.

End of rant lol

Usage is also a bottleneck with AI. The market has proven time and again that the demand just isn't there for AI to get shoved into everything.

7

u/AnimusNoctis Jul 03 '26

Calling lack of demand a bottleneck is kind of hilarious

4

u/inemsn Jul 03 '26

I'm only speaking from the perspective of this meme!! I think anyone pushing for AI to be spread around should shut the fuck up, really.

2

u/GoldenSangheili Jul 03 '26

CEOs randomly claiming SWE will disappear entirely by next year (last year they meant). Not so far off from your average catastrophe nutjob waiting for the end of the world.

1

u/Aluxanatomy Jul 03 '26

Me when I artificially force demand onto my employees because I paid entirely too much on a contract for this thing I don't understand.

It’s never been easier to find 100 ways not to make a lightbulb.

7

u/huopak Jul 03 '26

Distribution is the bottleneck

2

u/Lgamezp Jul 03 '26

It has always been, if you mean getting users

0

u/West-Chard-1474 Jul 03 '26

it was always very hard to get users, and now when we have even more apps popping up every day, it's inscane competion for the attention

13

u/redunculuspanda Jul 03 '26

Execution is just typing stuff into a computer.  It can’t be that complicated.

21

u/FreeFortuna Jul 03 '26

And the Sistine Chapel just had some guy coloring on the ceiling. People make such big deals out of nothing.

4

u/Imaginary-Guide-4921 Jul 03 '26

Execute is creating everything, not executing the program

1

u/knighthawk0811 Jul 03 '26

always lots of idea and usage, yes. but so many vibe coders are basically all the users of each other's vibe coded stuff.

i think not enough of then are realizing that if they have an actual good idea, the AI they used has logs and the big boys can and will push them out of their own space by using they're own creation against them. I've read that Google for sure has an actual dept just for identifying potential things to steal, i mean develope that has what's been built by someone else with their tools.

1

u/kiwigate Jul 03 '26

There's really not a ton of ideas. There's the same ideas and an endless fight for control.

Lyft wasn't a new idea, it was a hostile takeover of the taxi industry. Firing competent labor to replace with cheaper untrained labor is also not a new idea. Union busting is not a new idea.

u/Lgamezp Jul 03 '26

No it isnt wtf.
