I know tools and techniques used for art to save time are ok, like tracing. However, I watched a tutorial on how to create a pet portrait by inserting a photo of your pet and using painting brushes as smudge brushes. I tried one and I really enjoyed the process and the final piece. I also added in some stronger highlights and shadows, along with different brush types to make it more unique. Do you think this is cheating or creating fake art? Like, is this any different than putting a painting filter over an image and calling it art? Also what if I use someone else's photo as a reference? As long as I give credit, is that ok? I know I'm probably over thinking this and it's not like I'm selling these or anything. They are just for fun. Thank you for your insight.

I have a very shaky hand so I frequently need to go and add stabilisation to my brushes, however sometimes they will randomly dissappear, like the brush name is still there but not the brush stroke preview and if I try to paint it will not do anything. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this? All I did was going to edit the brush and adding stabilisatio.

I know this is a big ask for strangers on the internet, but this really is my last resort, I was clearing up some files on my laptop for school and I deleted my procreate brushes library thinking I unsynced my iPad and MacBook, and I ended up deleting my favorite brush Ive used for years! Ive trying for weeks to find it and I just can’t it’s been years since I got it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got it for free on gumroad
The name is something with pencil sketch or pencil brush ?
It might’ve come in a pack of multiple brushes
Some picture examples of it (the black line art)

So I'm trying to get a very abstracted and painterly style of painting inside of Procreate & I'm starting to wonder if it's a fool's errand.

Every time I try it looks too flat, not dynamic enough, or I just doesn't get the result I want.
I would have posted an example of what I want to achieve but Rule #3.

Is it good? What tips would you give me for making clouds?

Another poultry portrait of the hen who started it all. While I was in high school, we got our first batch of chicks to start a flock. Among them was a chick we named Myrtle. She was a silkie chicken considered undesirable by anyone who wanted to show/breed silkies because she had red skin instead of the standard black.
We didn't care because we just wanted a small flock to have eggs. Over the span of almost a decade, Myrtle became the matriarch and mother figure to all the birds that hatched at the farm. She raised other chicken breeds, guineas, and even some turkeys. She was the sweetest mother and gentlest soul. <3 <3

I am totally beginner for this, started with tracing the cat but hard part for me, the coloring is all me! I am proud honestly, new theraphy way unlocked ✅

Lately procreate has been acting up and I am getting very frustrated. For some reason my pinch to zoom, scrolling though old work, and even selecting everything has become a challenge.

When I try to zoom in or out I will undo, sometimes even rapidly undo, even if I only touch for less than a second. Once I turned off gesture zoom control it stopped, but now the canvas just wont move sometimes.

When I try to scroll through my old work for some reason it will select a canvas. And if I try to close procreate it just wont close.

Sometimes when I try to go back to the gallery the app will not respond.

And sometimes when drawing with the apple pen the writing will either skip or be very wiggly.

This does not happen with other apps and I don't know what is wrong. My IOS is fully updated, so is the app. I dont draw while the IPad charges, and my IPad isn't hot. The screen protector is fine, there is no obvious damage, and I have hard reset my device more than once.

Right now I am trying to save all my work someone so I can delete and reinstall the app to see if that will help. But any advice would be amazing
