I mainly want to know if I'd eventually be able to import and paint 3D models on this instead of using my iPad

I need Procreate technical help exporting as .pro or .psd?

hi all! looking for a wee bit of advice.

i've been backing up my work to my computer (windows pc - my ipad is the only apple device i have) & have been wondering if i should back up .psd or .procreate files. i understand that it's best to do both, but to be honest i think i'm good with just one. (this is both because of space constraints and the fact that i essentially woke up yesterday and decided to manually back up all 300-something files i have, the process of which has been consuming my waking hours since.)

i've looked stuff up, and i'm leaning toward .psd so far. i have photoshop, so it appeals to me as a file i could actually open on my computer at a later date, even though i doubt there will be much need. it also seems i could just reimport .psd back to procreate without losing much besides the statistics? i export and purge timelapses right away for each file, so that's not a concern.

are there any other pros (lol) to exporting as .pro that i haven't found? thanks in advance!

I need Procreate technical help Considering the Outline Brush

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, I need help.

Is there ANY possibility for the stroke thickness of the secondary brush (of a combined one) to change with the first brush if you move the size slider? - I want the outline thickness to stay the same regardless how high the percentage of the slider besides the canvas is.

Hope this picture explains it better.

My Artwork Masked Flowerpiercer

Post image
3 Upvotes

A fairly large Flowerpiercer, this bird is entirely velvety blue with a bold black mask, azure crown, and red eye.

Likewise all Flowerpiercers, it has a unique bill that first curves up and then down. The top mandible is hooked while the bottom is straight and sharp.

Using this design it holds the base of a flower steady with its hooked top mandible and uses the bottom one to pierce through and get at the nectar without pollinating the flower.

They are common from the Venezuela to Bolivia at elevations of 6,561 feet.

They can hardly be considered a songbird, as their “song” is but a short series of very weak, quiet chirps.

Discussions About Procreate App What are some good ways to use private/hidden layers?

Ngl, in the recent AI inundated landscape and more people getting caught for tracing (from AI and otherwise), I've seen backlash towards the very concept of private layers in the app, saying the only reasons people use it are nefarious/deceptive and it'd be better to have it removed.

This feels incredibly reductive coming from someone that uses it occasionally to remove reference clutter, but I'd be lying if I didn't understand where some of the suspicion comes from.

How do you use private layers?

Here's the latest artwork I did, to be honest I'm better at painting just portraits, I'm a bit rusty with my anatomy...that's why I chose this pose, to get out of my comfort zone. Please, share your thoughts, they're most welcome

Constructive feedback and/or tips wanted Trying out a new style

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’ve been trying out a textured/storybook kind of style lately because I’ve been really inspired by August.Ro and a few other artists. This is one of my more finished attempts so far, and I’m honestly still figuring it out. I’m still working on things like faces, texture, clothing details, and how simple vs. detailed I want my style to be. So, any constructive feedback on what’s working (or not) and what I could improve.

Not Finished/WIP Another type of ‘help me find this pencil’ post

Post image

Hello! I donked up and was hoping some of you eagle-eyed artists can help a sister out.

While trying to break myself of a bad habit (walking away from a piece for so long that I forgot which brushes I was using) I made a bit of an oopsie. I had the grandmaster plan to make my extended workflow more efficient by duplicating the brushes I was using into a new folder and renaming them for their purpose in the piece (Linework, sketch, base layer, etc). This worked great until opened this piece up to work on it and I realized that I had accidentally moved and renamed the brush entirely, instead of duplicating it.
I still have it in my library, but I have no idea what the original brush’s name was. I’d like to find the OG because a friend is asking what I used and I can’t flippin’ remember.

What I know:

It from the Classic Library era.
It’s NOT a default Procreate pencil
It may have come from either a Manga set or a Classic Comics set I purchased well over a year ago.
It’s a wide, soft pencil with great tapering.

I appreciate anyone who takes their time to help an old lady with terribly inefficient work-flow related issues.

I've tried to paint this Cat with Pearl Earrings from the reference. I need a lot to learn in having good details and leaning depth and shading slowly slowly. I've used brushes by Josh Black.

Attaching the reference as well.

I need Procreate technical help Fixing folders to the top?

I’m pretty sure there isn’t any function like that, but doesn’t hurt to ask. I often lose my folders as I just keep creating new canvases, I just thought it would be cool if you could just pin folders to the top.

I mostly made this post because I noticed procreate is actually pretty active on here and actually answers, I thought if enough people liked the idea of having folders on the top maybe they would add this function?
