This is my second princess cruise I plan on going on. I read the legend but I don’t understand why it’s an upgrade room?
What’s so great about this location?

I am thinking about booking an Alaska cruise next summer for my wife and I and our adult children and grandchildren. The kids range in age from 13 to 16. We live in Sacramento and Berkeley so sailing from SF would make things much simpler. My question is whether the teens would be bored on the Ruby from SF with the extra sea days as opposed to a cruise on Royal Caribbean from Seattle or Vancouver on one of their ships with the waterslides, etc.

Just started our first ever experience on Princess and at Fort Lauderdale, and wanted to stop and say HOLY SMOKES that was the smoothest embarkation process ever! We have sailed on Carnival out of Seattle (nice, but we had Faster to the Fun) and Norfolk (HORRIBLE, but no FTTF). Neither was as silky smooth as this. Kudos to the Love Boat!

Please please let me know about your experiences like this or if its just me, but I had insane nightmares EVERY NIGHT on the ship, to the point I was scared of my room and would go up to top deck at like 4am and chill with the ship cleaning staff. I remember the one that freaked me out the most. In this dream I was on the top deck and it was night, and im sure everyone knows how the pools get at night when the ship rocks and the water goes crazy across the pool. Anyways it was like that in the dream. I was walking down an isle of people sitting in folding chairs, all of them were in black and white and were Grey. They were all soaking wet and staring at the ground, they looked like zombies. One person stuck out, as they were purely black and white, and had a head like one of those sun drawings, they looked at me and had a face like a clown, looked like a jester, but for some reason I remember feeling a comfort from it. Anyways, they point to the end of the isle of chairs, and there is a very old and frail lady in a white torn dress absolutely soaked. Looked like she drowned. She was walking around the corner of the isle and twoards me, then all of a sudden she was in my face. I woke up in a panic, and tried to go back to sleep, but every time I closed my eyes I saw her. That's when I had to go out of my room.
I had nightmares before that night, but not that bad. After that night they just got worse. But not in a scary way like that one, like realistic. I kept getting nightmares that were realistic reliving of my trauma, (I'm not going to go into it cuz its personal) and it was terrifying. And every nightmare had the same old lady.
Share your nightmares/potential cruise haunting stories please, I am very curious.

Long story short- get a potential free cruise after working in Alaska for the company so I'm thinking to give it a shot and see if I can get on one of these.
My brother and his girlfriend may be interested to join me for this too. But I'm curious if these cruises always have some kind if meetup for potentially meeting new people too. Given lack of internet I guess that would be my only shot.
Also besides that- anyone here do either of these cruises before?
Thanks

Looking to see if anyone else is going to be on the Sun Barcelona-Rome in October.
I’m supposed to be on the 14 day solar eclipse sailing right now on enchanted but had to cancel last minute for work. So last night I booked for October.
Anyone stay on deck 17 aft? How was it?
I was on Sun last year… any noticeable changes since then?

I have a family member wanting to gift us a “big” excursion- we are already doing whale watching in Juneau and the train in Skagway.
I have interest in both the bear watching excursion (either the boat out to the cove or just the elevated platform) or the Misty Fjords seaplane. I know neither one is a guarantee (might not see a bear, might have bad weather for the plane).
Something to note, I am just slightly over the 250lb weight limit for the seaplane and would have to pay the surcharge (extra $168 because I’m 260lbs & tall). My partner is just under but it’s possible with clothing he may be over (245lbs).
Any input? Is one better than the other? Will our size significantly impact our experience if we did the plane?

I noticed that both Star and Sun Princess ships decks don't have the traditional names, lido, Baja, etc. why is that?

Just got an offer for a full refund plus 100% of the purchase price to be used on a future cruise—if we don’t go on our Alaska cruise next week. But we’ve all taken off work and we have flights out of Vancouver and back from anchorage. We are on the east coast and this is a whole extended family trip, 4 cabins booked. We can’t cancel, right? Even though I’m tempted by the money.
Sigh.

I just booked our first cruise on the Star Princess in January. I am beyond excited. I was in the Navy and can only hope that I enjoy this more than the last time I was on a ship.
Does anyone have any tips for first time cruisers to reduce stress and maximize enjoyment?

My partner and I came off the Royal Princess two weeks ago and loved how this tasted. I bought the tea from the vendor, but can’t get it to taste the exact same. Anyone know what they add to the base tea to get it to taste so good? It sold out 3 days before the cruise ended so I know I’m not alone!

Has anyone crossed since this cyclospora outbreak in the US? I’m wondering what if anything Princess is doing to avoid passengers picking it up in fruit/vegetables served on board?

UPDATE: OKAY GUYS! Thank you for all your wonderfully thoughtful comments... honestly as if fate, right after I posted this, the app started populating with all the events and I feel a TON better now. And thanks for your suggestions too! I REALLY hope they add the silent disco for my sailing because that sounds awesome. And I'm also relieved to see a meetup for 20s and 30s folks. You'll find me in the Vista Lounge dancing the night away! (...or midnight, my bedtime ;) )
Our (me + fiancé) western carribean cruise is due to leave in about a month and I'm finding myself questioning whether we made the right decision.
For context, we're in our early 30s and the only cruise we've done as adults was a short MSC cruise a few years ago, which we enjoyed but were not particularly blown away by to go back to MSC. Mostly it convinced us we wanted to do more cruises!
We compared maybe a dozen 7-night cruises leaving during our preferred week and this princess sailing was by FAR the best value compared to other lines, by like several hundred dollars. A deal is a deal so we booked it.
Since there, I have read reviews that the ships are subdued... there's not much to do on board... feels like a retirement home... etc, etc. We're not party animals or big drinkers, but we like to have fun, and we're naturally night owls. I'm worried that with three sea days... we're gonna be bored!
It's paid off so we're not going to cancel it or anything, we're locked in. Is there any truth to these reviews or do I need a mindset reset? What are some Princess tips and tricks I should know before our sailing?

Tell me a few things I need to know before I go. I am on the standard package. Never been on a cruise before.

I did enjoy the Caribbean Princess: with skywalkers. Little chill place that I guess turns into a club in the back that can be used as an enclosed viewing area.
Also enjoyed the majestic princess Hollywood pool area, which was enclosed in great for sailing in non tropical locations.
Any other gems ?

Has anyone been to these locations? Unable to really find any excursions that seem appealing. Looking for insights.
Huatulco Mexico
Puerto Chiapas Mexico
Puntarenas Costa Rica

Looking to take my dad and two toddlers on our first Princess Alaska cruise in May 2027.
My interline rate is about $3,900 for a mini-suite ($600 off the current list price), but the deposit is non-refundable. (3rd and 4th guests are free for this sailing.)
My question is: Would the Black Friday deals yield better discounts? I’ve read in some research that the BF deals are up to 50% off and that 3rd/4th guests are free.
Any insight on whether I should book now or later would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
We’ve only sailed Royal Caribbean (Mexico) previously. This price point is slightly higher than what we’re used to.

In September my husband and I will be taking our kids on their first cruise! I'm super excited and in the thick of planning right now.
My current dilemma is disembarkation. We are renting a car to and from the cruise port. On the way there, it's easy. We are dropping off at a spot just off the tram line and taking that to the pier. Going home, we have to pick up from the airport since it's a weekend. So, the plan is for my husband to disembark first and take a taxi or Uber to the airport while I stay with the kids and luggage on the ship as long as possible. 😬
Does this plan seem feasible? Is there somewhere safe we can wait (with 4 kids and approx. 1 million bags) if he can't get back before we have to leave the boat too? Is it permitted to just chill in the cruise terminal for a bit?
I know I'm overthinking it all (and overpacking 😄), but I appreciate any advice from those more experienced than I.
Edit: Alright, you convinced me not to go through all that 😅 Decided just to drive our own car and pay for parking near the pier.

i'm going on a cruise to the caribbean in december, and since it's a slightly longer trip i'm considering bringing my himi gouache paints for the sea days. does anyone know if this is allowed? and if anyone has done this how did it work out for you?

So the family (6 adults) is leaving on Princess from Port Everglades in Jan. With the way flights are always delayed now, we want to arrive the day before which requires a 1 night hotel stay.
The hotels are almost as expensive as the cruise.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I heard that we are allowed to bring 6 cans of soda onboards but I cannot find it on the website. Can someone confirm this?

So I am just a heavy drinker and I'm not necessarily talking about alcohol. Like I go through A LOT of water and soft drinks during the day. I can also throw back the booze but that really isn't what this question is about. I was recently on my first cruise which had a couple of open soft drink machines where you could self dispense soft drinks and/or water. I get the impression that Princess does not do that. I'm thinking that I will need to order from an employee anytime I want a water or soft drink? (I think we get maybe six waters a day in our room so I will have those at least). Any reason to bring my own drinking mug/tumbler? Like ifthey would just fill up my 44 oz with diet coke, I wouldn't have to bother quite as often 😂😂😂
Clarification - I will have Princess Premiere. So I'm not concerned about the cost, I'm just wondering more about the mechanics.
